Re: Jermain Taylor v. Allan Green

Re: Jermain Taylor v. Allan Green
Its amazing how people say Taylor is avoiding Froch when Taylor went to Froch with the fight. Where are you getting this from. The fight isn't happening at this time because HBO wouldn't put up the money. Negotiations were going good between the fighters and then HBO nixed it. They don't believe it will produce the draw they are looking for. At least not yet. Froch is not a draw and Taylor is so more blame is on Froch. Allan Green is easily more of a draw even if you think Froch is better. I personally think Froch should be fighting guys like Green, Ward, Direll, etc to get the drawing power to back up his fight demands. American interest is necessary. Boxing is more business than fighting. There are so many people who have to be satisfied in order for a fight to be signed that it is ignorant to just claim two fighters should fight. With Taylor/Green I think it is nice for Green to step it up but I don't think he has picked the right opponent to propel himself to the next level. But he will get his sizable check as a consolation.
Re: Jermain Taylor v. Allan Green
The British have always totally dominated the Super Middleweight division.
Calzaghe, Reid, Benn, Eubank and now Froch.
Dibella has admitted that Lacy was an easier fight than Froch - they know he is a hard bastard and will throw the sink at fragile Taylor.
No Taylor = No income for Dibella !
Re: Jermain Taylor v. Allan Green
Taylor brings in money regardless of who he fights. Froch doesn't. Froch needs the exposure. Froch should travel to the US to fight the Allan Green's/Andre Ward's of the 68' division for less money and build his franchise. He shouldn't follow in the footsteps of Calzaghe and wait until the twilight of his career to do it. Do it now. Prove himself on the world stage.

Yeah, that's a pretty strong list. For some reason, a lot of good/great Europeons @ 168.
Also have Sven Ottke, Markus Beyer, Kessler, Veit, Catley

Yes, because the super middle weight division has existed a really long time and guys like James Toney and Roy Jones Jr don't exist.

There is a difference between being a champion and being a belt holder. Froch won that belt by default. Dam he still hasnt even fought a top ten guy. He did not beat a champ. He doesnt deserve it.

I couldn't agree more. Even Allan Green is better than anyone Froch has fought. Hell, he might even be better than Froch (I don't actually think he is, but Froch certainly hasn't proven otherwise).

well its hard for carl to fight top 10 fighters when they keep on being pussies and not wanting to fight him. Pascal IMO was in the top 10 at 168, carl did the business on him and he wants the big names. They dont want him though

Tom, I respect that you are a fan of Froch's, but if he really wanted to fight top ten fighters - he would fight top ten fighters for less money and in unfriendly environments, like the US or Canada. Has he ever even fought outside of Nottingham? Let alone the UK? Has he ever accepted the raw end of the stick to get a bigger fight?
For a good example, look to Timothy Bradley. No one outside of California had even heard of Tim Bradley. What did Tim Bradley do? He flew to London to fight a top five junior welter weight (Junior Witter) for low pay. Now he is a top contender who everyone is forced to pay attention to at junior welterweight.
With that being said, it looks like the Taylor fight is happening after all, and Froch is actually taking the lower pay and unfriendly environment:
Sky Sports | Boxing | News | Froch close to Taylor bout
Good move Froch. Win or lose, he gains a ton in notoriety.
I may have to eat my words :-X

Froch has fought in America before.
Tim Bradley was the number one contender to Witter's WBC title. It's understandable he travelled.
Carl Froch is the champion, Taylor the challenger, yet Froch is still willing to travel to make the fight.
Taylor has never fought outside the states. He would rather NOT fight the champion than travel.
Froch's crime is clearly being a NON American based fighter.

Froch, the WBC champion, should travel to America to fight these Americans because .. err.. why exactly?
Green and Ward have won NOTHING. Shouldn't THEY be travelling to Britain in the hope of getting a shot at Froch?
It seems like one rule for AMERICAN fighters another for the rest :-\
