I said it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never hurt Rocky Martinez or you will be hurt!!!!!! ;D
Congratulations to the new Champ!!!!! We are waiting for you on the Island...
Congrats to Rocky Martinez, a slow starter but heavy handed finisher, unlucky Cookie, he just seems to fall short at top level.
Congratulations PR for having another world champ!
This is the same guy who drew Luevano right. If it is. I think is great to watch. Not necesarily a great in the level of the fighters from PR mentioned on this thread, but certanly a very good and very entertaining fighter.
PS he should've beat Luevano. He let that one slip away...
Any one have an opinion on Orlando Cruz ? Rewatched him blast out Lianilo Miranda last night, iced him cold.Have only seen him twice but seems very self assured southpaw, very stout...almost a lil chunky ??
Well done to Roman "Rocky" Martinez, obviously I was supporting Cook but when I saw him get knocked down and immediately after the count, star flying back in with punches I thought "why are you doing that to someone who obviously is hard enough to KO you when you've just been knocked down and not recovered!"
......silly move by Cook when he should've bought a few seconds to recover, but well done Rocky, I look forward to watching him in the future, maybe take on Humberto Soto if he successfully defends his title later in the month
I hope that we continue watching Rocky for some long time. He is a really exciting fighter. For those who had not watched previous fights I recommend to make a search and try to see him fighting, if you want to have some fun. He shows lot of heart, and you will see him on the canvas, but returning to destroy his opponents. His fight with Daniel Jimenez was very entertaining, and there are a few more recent fights.
Rugged Louis Collazo still fights. Lou "Honey Boy" Del Valle last fought in July 2008, but appears near the end. Nelson Dieppa, Kermit “El Asesino” Cintron and Carlos “El Indio” Quintana are still factors as are Mario “Principe Ponce” Santiago(19-1-1), Manny Siaca, Cesar Ceda (16-0), undefeated Victor Fonseca (who won the vacant International Boxing Association bantamweight title in 2008), Orlando Cruz (16-0-1), Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr (15-0),and Henry “El Nitro” Bruseles who has won six in a row since losing to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2005. Edgar “El Chamaco” Santana (24-3) shows promise but needs to get his personal life in order.
Carlos Ivan Velasquez (9-0) has potential as well. At the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games, he defeated Marlon Almagro of Venezuela. He the pulled off a monster upset pf highly touted Olympic champion Yuriorkis Gamboa in the semis and won Gold against Dominican Ronald de la Rosa).
Fres “Fast Fres" Oquendo, a great all-around athlete from Chicago via Puerto Rico, has come this close to reaching the top, but each time has been thwarted--whether by highly questionable decisions (against Toney and Holyfield), or late round collapses (Ruiz and Tua). Still, he remains a viable heavyweight
i think that "Wi" Vazquez Jr has a lot of potential, looked good the other night

"WV2" has looked good his last outing vs. Becerra (I believe was his name) he made quite a few rookie mistakes and I think he got hit a bit too much for someone whos suppose to be quicker then his opponent.
I think he stood toe to toe but forgot about the defense aspect of it.
I also think he could have taken his opponent out if he would have pressed more.
His ring antics towards the end did not look good IMO.
The kids just starting off and needs to be a sponge right now absorbing everything in, not dancing around with the hands to the side and moving around like this is a great win for him.
It's def. a step forward but maybe a bit more humble and more of a student and less of a master would help him.
