Re: Pacquiao beating Hatton...I just don't see it
Gotta disagree with you albsur, the reason Hatton lost to Mayweather was because he came up against a guy who was simply better than he could be. It was not a 'bigger' guy, just someone who had Hatton figured out & knew how to beat him, most importantly on the inside in 'Hatton's territory'. I do think Pacquiao is the slight favourite, he has the speed & elusiveness that could make him a very tricky opponent & I think that has enough to push him to a points decision. However, we do not know how good Pacquiao is on the inside, he is certainly not as good there as Mayweather, & it will be interesting to see how he copes with Hatton bullying him when he gets there. It wont be as simple as skipping away & at some point he will have to get into the trenches & this is when Hatton can win. People here really underestimate Hatton's power, any man how can make Kostya Tzsyu quit must punch pretty hard, & lets not forget he kinda wobbled PBF in the 1st round of their fight which very few have done (I know he was off balance but still it was impressive) so I certainly don't think Pacquiao will ever have been in with someone who hits as hard as Ricky & it will be interesting to see how he copes.

Nice try Taeth but when Pac was offered his opportunity rankings were taken into consideration. If that moment were today Pac may have never received an opportunity. Pac did not deserve the right to fight MAB at that time any more than Ortiz does within 1 year (providing Ortiz does not lose).
Nice try about what? When Pacquiao was offered the oppertunity he wasn't considered much in north america, it was suppose to be regular defense of his title for Barrera, sure some people knew Pacquiao was special, but in general he wasn't well known at all. The situation is different is because all eyes are on Pacquiao, he has bigger fights against guys nobody would argue him taking Mayweather, mosley, Cotto, right now Hatton, Marquez again. These are all fights boxing needs more than him fight Victor Ortiz. I am arguing that other people deserve the fight more than Ortiz does, and he isn't even a champion, while Pacquiao was the super batamweight champion before he faced Barrera, and he had better fighters on his resume than Ortiz currently does.
All in all Pacquiao is too busy fighting the best fighters in the world at any weight division, and the up and comers either have to knock off the Miguel Cotto's of the world or wait their turn.
Not only PAC a super bantam champ but he's already a 2 division titliest (flyweight and super bantam) at that time when he first faced Barrera... PAC was much much better than an Ortiz at that time...

I admire Hatton's ability to make his opponent off balance due to his footspeed in the early rounds ... He's able to do it to PBF and Collazo but it's only off-balance and not really making any damage to the opponent... Granting Hatton and PAC has the same footspeed then Hatton won't be able to bully and push PAC to the ropes... I think tho PAC has faster feet/movement...
Hatton make Kostya quit 4 years ago equivalent to PAC in the Morales fights but Hatton recent fights were unimpressive that some considered Hatton on a decline while PAC is still seen with vast improvements in every fight up to his last fight...

Only the Lazcano fight showed a fighter looking on the decline, against Malignaggi he was basically not finishing him so he could get the rounds in, and against Mayweather, he just came up against a guy who I doubt Ricky could beat if his mum reffed the match. I do think Pac is the favourite due to his speed & elusiveness, but I think you sell Hatton short & I'm convinced at some stage he will get Pacquiao to the ropes & bully him, it will just depend how Pac handles it.
Re: Pacquiao beating Hatton...I just don't see it
The fight will be stopped due to cuts. This will be the fight were Hatton's face balloons just like it does when he walks around at 180 ;D People always said in the past, that Hatton will be stopped because of his facial damage, I have never said that of him in any other fight but this is the one where Hatton's face will look as though Manny was using a buzz saw, hence the nick name 'HUMAN BUZZ SAW' ;D Malignaggi who hits like a woman managed to mess up Hatton's face, just imagine the damage that the HUMAN BUZZ SAW will inflict :lickish:
Re: Pacquiao beating Hatton...I just don't see it
Pacquiao's speed and southpaw style will be too much for Hatton to overcome imo.
Hatton will make a good fight of it early on but will tire as it wears on from taking alot of Pacquiao combos.
He may last the distance but i don't see it.
Pacquiao by late TKO.

Ortiz is one of the best prospect I've ever seen. He's better than Angulo imo. And I wish him all the best with his future fights. He'd be the perfect guy for Pacquiao to be passing his torch with. Ortiz is very down to earth guy, very humble like Pac. I would hate if someday people will call him overhyped or overrated.
Re: Pacquiao beating Hatton...I just don't see it
mods need to seriously start clamping down on all these hatton/pac threads
Cant we just designate the whole talk about this fight to one official thread and let the boxing world continue without having to here about the same old fight over and over again????

I agree that Ortiz must beat one of the mentioned boxers (Cotto, JMM, or Mosley) Mayweather will not fight Ortiz .... which goes back to my initial comment of a fight within a year if he remains unbeaten. But if that happens and Pac gets KO'd by Ortiz this board will be filled with people questioning PAC's resume of "W's" over already beaten over 30 fighters. A fact that can not be overturned. If facts are weighed rather than beliefs as in Pac's 2nd fight win over JMM. Pac won the fight but the secret lies in boing experts mind and the time that binds that JMM was the true winner. Plus it would be a nice vindication for Mexican (of blood) to regain foothold on superiority in boxing and the filipnos can wait another 200 years to be able to talk crap again vs the lengthy history of Mexican champions.

Quite honestly, I like Manny, but if Hatton trains properly and looks he has in the past, I really think Manny will get stopped. Can someone please tell me why they think Manny is such a favorite in this fight? Outside of saying something like "because he's P4P #1". Tell me how you envision Manny winning the fight.
Maybe I can Help you. I have predicted exactly what Pac has done so far. If you don't see Pac Beating Hatton, maybe you're not looking enough.
-1st, Hatton has Problems with Lefty, look at the Collazo fight.
-Hatton is Hittable, look at the Collazo & Lazcano fight and of course the PBF fight.
-Hatton was Koed by Floyd. Floyd can't KO Oscar & Just won by SD. Pac TKO DLH in a Dominating performance. Where does Hatton rank in the food chain??? Bottom, right?
-Hatton's Trex Arms will not be effective against Pac, it's just too short to reach Pac. Pac will Pepper hatton with jab, straight left. If hatton slip some of those there's still Pac's right hook & Uppercuts to deal with.
-Hatton has Body shot KO Power. But when does Pac has problems with body shot? Eons ago where Pac was the skinny guy & not even trained by Roach yet. AT recent times MAB was the best Body puncher that Pac fought, I barely remember anything landed on Pac.
-On this fight, Pac will dictate offence. Hatton will be on the defensive most of the time, He'll busy taking punches than throwing one.
If you don't see these visions. Watch the fight as it unfolds. I've done this many times & I'm most of the times I Nailed it.

I'm not sure how that logic works since Pacquiao faced a very worn down and incredibly sub standard De La Hoya, Pacquiao has some great skills but I think a lot of boxers couldv'e beaten Oscar on that night.
I don't think Pacquiao has ever faced a body puncher like Hatton before, it's one of Hatton's things, one of his specialities if you like.
Pacquiao may dictate a lot of the offence with his speed and decent jab, but I don't think I've ever seen a fight where Ricky curls up into a ball and steps back. It's Ricky's dominance in the ring that makes him so pleasing to watch, never in a dull fight.
All that stuff aside, I do agree that Hatton is hittable, and I agree that Pacquiao's speed and jab will be very good for him. If Hatton comes at Manny like he did against Floyd when he got annoyed and frustrated, then I think Pacquiao will slap him around and maybe win on a late TKO or UD. There's also cuts to worry about.
But you can never ever rule out Hatton, so much heart and workrate, killing body punches and determination.
It's such a tough one to call, they're both great fighters. I will however go for Hatton by KO, in lets say, round 6. But, that could be the English in me speaking! ;)

Before the Pac-DLH we already knew that DLH was shopworn. Even before the PBF_DLH, DLH was already shopworn but PBF got only an SD while Pac dominates all seconds of the fight. But DLH in not the LOne HOF in Pac's resume. Pac Dominated both EM & MAB also when MAB & EM was 29 years old. How old was Pac now??? Passed 29 right?
Pac was so dominants on his wins over these 3 HOFamers that the only excuse they can produce was these guys are all shot. Compared to Pac they do but Pac has something to do with it.
No matter how good a Body puncher Ricky is. It will not be effective with Pac. Even Roach already said that Hatton will not land one on Pac. Just watch Pac-MAB1 again & look how MAB keep on missing his Body punches on Pac.
Ricky never step Back. He just eat Flush shot then Hug. Problem with Pac, Pac hits harder than PBF. Once Pac hit Hatton Flush, Hatton will not back up, Hatton will go down instead.
Hatton's a good guy & I root for him against PBF but I know he can't beat PBF. I'm just wishing Hatton will give Pac a Great fight. But I don't see it. I see Pac in a Dominating Performance again.

I disagree with you, of course. Manny Pac has had a great run. He has been really impressive (beating older men). But in this instance, Manny has got greedy. He thought the big pay day with Oscar was good and now he is going to fight Hatton. This is where money will smack him in the face. Hatton is simply too big and too clever for Manny.
Manny is a little guy with padding. You should realise that. Once Hatton lands early you will be doing your gay little prayers. ;)

I agree with you on most points, I just think it's a bit unfair to resoundingly rule out Hatton when Manny is totally unproven at the weight in which Ricky is the best.
Pacquiao has been great at moving up weights in the past and taking his speed and power up with him, but you have to assume that it can't continue forever, and Hatton is a very tough and strong guy.
I'm just saying it'd be better if you'd consider Hatton's strong points as well as Manny's. Saying the whole chain of fighters beating others and so on is a flawed logic, in the sense that Cotto beats Mosely, Margarito beats Cotto and Mosely beats Margarito.
It will certainly be an action packed fight, and I find it very hard to call, with both fighters bringing such great backgrounds and styles to the ring. Manny seems to have the edge in most peoples eyes and I can see why, but I just think it's wrong to rule out Ricky Hatton.
Re: Pacquiao beating Hatton...I just don't see it
To be honest when the fight was being mentioned just after Pacs thrashing of ODLH I thought to myself "Hattons gonna get mauled". But now I've had time to let that fight calm down in my mind, I'm not so sure. In fact I think Hatton is going to be too much for Pac to handle in the way I thought ODLH would be. Difference is that Hatton is far from shot and has only one defeat to a man who would still own everybody upto the 154 weight division!
