Re: Top 20 since the 1990s (P4P)
I'd add Tszyu to the list but like Jaz I really can't pick one to drop exept for Bowe.
That is a cracking list BTW
Re: Top 20 since the 1990s (P4P)
Did you all miss the part where I said I couldn't think of number 20, so just put Bowe there even though he doesn't deserve it
Re: Top 20 since the 1990s (P4P)
Terry Norris deserves at least an honors mention IMO.
Re: Top 20 since the 1990s (P4P)
14 Nelson (Azumah)
It's a good thing you put Azumah there in brackets, else I would have thought you meant Johnny.
Anywaqys, not sure I'.d put Nelson in there, is best his best years were in the 80s, but he did have a couple decent years in the early 90s I suppose
Re: Top 20 since the 1990s (P4P)
Another top names that come to mind;
Tapia & "Too Sharp"

Winky deserves consideration. Carbajal, Chiquita Gonzalez, just listing some names. I feel like I'm forgetting somebody obvious too but six posts and nobody's come up with anything.

Remember him presenting Sports personality awards , sitting ringside to watch Herbie Hide - Michael Muray and giving a great interview plus the bin episode , that was real exposure here what is was like in the states I don't know.
His decline was shocking even y boxing standards
I remember that.
I went to watch Hide -v- Murray & Riddick Bowe was there & he was a really nice guy!
I also remember a ringside interview after the Hide fight & Herbie was poking Riddick in the face, telling him where he's going to hit him when/if they fought in the future!:o
Bowe was so calm & didn't really react at all.:o

THESE ARE NOT IN ORDER
1 Whitaker
2 JC Chavez
3 RJJ
4 R Lopez
5 PAC
6 Holyfield
7 B-Hop
8 Calzaghe
9 MAB
10 Morales
11 Lewis
12 PBF
13 De La Hoya
14 Nelson (Azumah)
15 Mosley
16 JMM
17 Toney

Pretty good list... On side note, PAC defeated 4 boxers in this list...;) That's pretty high considering this is a very elite list...;)

Probably not... that's why PAC either knocked them down, knocked them out or annihilated them coz they're not in their prime anymore... But still very impressive doing these things to elite great boxers... What do you think?
.
Re: Top 20 since the 1990s (P4P)
Thats a sharp list Big H. Always a bit iffy on p4p lists, but I'd stick maybe a Carbajal,Orlando Canizales and maybe a just on the time line Khaosai Galaxy for consideration.Gotta go with Mick on Johnson too.

20 Bowe
A few other candidates worth mentioning.
Michael Nunn
Nigel Benn
Chris Eubank
Terry Norris
Orlando Canizales
Kostya Tszyu
Steve Collins
Johnny Tapia
Mark Johnson
Im not saying any of these names deserve a spot in the top 20, im just mentioning names you haven't mentioned which deserve a mention. And personally i think you could replace Riddick Bowe with any of the names i mentioned there.

never rated Steve Collins... made his name by beating a past prime Eubank and Benn... ducked the young new upcoming fighter Calzaghe BIGTIME.

I think he is a bit underrated Saddo, he did give Mike McCallum a tough fight while being only a novice. And he had close decision losses to good names like Reggie Johnson, Sumbu Kalambay.
I think Steve Collins deserves alot of credit for beating Chris Eubank who was 41-0, with countless title defenses. Yes he wasn't at his 100 percent peak but i still think he was a good fighter and he was coming off one of his best performances against Henry Wharton.
Agreed about the Nigel Benn fights clearly Nigel Benn was shot to pieces, after the brutal war with Gerald McClellan. And a loss to Thulani Malinga.
Lastly about the Joe Calzaghe thing i heard somewhere that Steve Collins, passed out in sparring and had a detatched retina, and thats why he retired ? maybe someone could clarify that ?

no mate i'm about 80% sure that happened when he was going to make a comeback.
he retired before the Calzaghe fight because he said his heart wasn't in it anymore and only wanted to fight Roy Jones or somthing like that.... remember thinking at the time it was a piss poor excuse thats for sure ;)
