You are only open if you are getting hit, how many times have Roy JOnes Jr, Mayweather, Whitaker, Hopkins looked open because they've had their hands down, only to be impossible to hit. Ward was so much faster than Miranda he could get away with it, I doubt he would be that open against Dirrell.
it's not the only fight that he's done it, and Ward's not the fastest fighter either, he has good speed but nothing out of this world, Miranda didn't capitalize cause the only right hand he throws is a wicked, but easily telegraphed, overhand right, Green and Dirrell both have good straight right hands, and if Ward doesn't react, well he'll pay
i've seen plenty of Ward's fights and he's hardly as elusive as Jones Jr or Whitaker, and in no way does he have the defensive skill as Hopkins, i'd say put him in with Dirrell later on, but they should get him in against solid world level competition to smooth out the rough edges, i think he has a good future but right now, i'm not so sure that he's ready for the big boys, same thing goes for Dirrell
Re: WBC Orders Ward-Dirrell Eliminator
I just read over on Dan Rapheals chat on ESPN that he doesnt think this fight will happen. He said its too early in there careers and it will be a big money fight if they wait later on to fight.
Just his opinion but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't happen right now either. Makes more sense if they did it down the road.

Not to make excuses but Green did fight Miranda right after his surgery. I believe he had 80% of his colon removed. He needed to make money shortly after and took the fight with Miranda if I am not mistaken.

I don't think theres any need to match these two just yet, although I am all for undefeated contenders meeting each other I think this one can sit in the melting pot a little longer!
I do think this should sit a little bit longer, let these two clean house of this division and have a ridiculous payday for both.

I'm not saying he has Bernard's defensive skills, yet but Bernard wasn't always as good defensively as he became, he was always good, but he became exceptional defensively.

Agreed. And One thing about Ward is he made sure when Miranda hit him with the left he was keeping his feet unplanted. And despite the great performance Ward wasn't even satisfied in himself, he seems to always want to get better so I'd expect him to look even better the next time out.
Re: WBC Orders Ward-Dirrell Eliminator
i think both Ward and Dirrell have good futures ahead of them, just don't want to see the same mistake that was made with Angulo, and have them rushed and then maybe pay for it drastically, i mean we don't know if Angulo will be able to bounce back and become something, but no doubt the loss is gonna take it's toll
Re: WBC Orders Ward-Dirrell Eliminator
The difference is these two have loads of talent Angulo was going to fail from the start, he is too slow, too ordinary. He is basically an even slower version of Margarito with a way lower output.

have you seen what the jr middle division has to offer? :-\ not much, and he makes up for his lack of speed with power and his chin, i've been saying that Angulo was gonna lose soon enough, but IMO he's not the type of fighter to just fold after one loss, Ward does, and on that note i'm off for the night
Re: WBC Orders Ward-Dirrell Eliminator
I think Green is the most dangerous of the three because he has KO power in both hands--someting the others don't have--though they have solid technical skills. To me, Dirrell-Green is the fight I'd like to see.
