Agree Belakbox, Cotto's time has come and gone. He may hang around top 3-5 for a while longer, but a convincing top dog is a thing of the past.

I say another fight with Mosley. Margarito doesn't deserve anymore big paydays or even a boxing license again.
I hope we don't look too much into this Cotto situation. Cotto fought the way he did because of the cut. He would've pressed the action a lot more often if he could see out of his left side. He was just cautious of the right hand because he was getting tagged with it and because of the cut he couldn't see it coming.
Had Cotto fought with no cut, it would've been much different IMO.
I agree. The cut was clearly a huge factor in how the fight developed. Cotto couldn't see and so was on the backfoot trying to stay out of range of the Clottey right. All things considered he deserves a lot of credit for seeing it through. He could have just stopped after the seventh and took a clear points win. But instead he gave the fans a fight and gutted it through.
The cut tarnished Cotto's performance here. I don't think he can be called past his best on what we saw. That's a little rash. It wasn't a razzle dazzle display but one where he needed to grind out the result. All fighters have these affairs on occasion. Floyd: Castillo 1 is one such fight. Cotto can and probably will perform better.
Cut is not a big deal here. I seen worst than that.

If you guys do remember. Juan Manuel Marquez have a cut and he don't run on PAC. Remember PAC can destroy anyone face and Juan Manuel Marquez did not run.
Cotto don't need to run. If Cotto didn't run he might won convincingly. But I have Clottey winning this one by micro edge.
Clottey deserves a rematch more than Margarito & I'd rather see it. Margarito should have to fight his way back up from club fighters to get at these guys
Mosley or Berto
I would hesitate before writing Cotto off. I have little doubt that he was fighting a guy with loaded gloves in Margarito although obviously it can't be proven, still the idea that he just all of a sudden decided to load his gloves after the biggest fight of his life is nonsensical. In addition to this Clottey is the quintessential impossible to look good against guy and he was fighting under bad circumstances.
He would find Mosley and Berto much easier to hit as he did with Mosley in the first fight. I would favor Cotto over Mosley again.
How well would Mosley do against Clottey?
Either immediate rematch with Clottey(for respect) or a fight with PAC. PAC and Cotto's fanbase alone (Which Clottey does not have) and their exciting styles will make this fight compelling.
Their fanbases are big, but I think Pacquiao against the PBF/JMM winner is the best fight out there, especially finance-wise. Cotto should either give Clottey a rematch which would definitely raise him in my estimation or he should fight Mosley again. I always think in close fights like this that the guy who wins should give him a rematch regardless of whether I thought he won. Same applied in PBF/Castillo, Berto/Collazo & Calzaghe/Hopkins.
I think the real question here is What's next for Clottey?
exactly, and if you rewatch the fight, it started out as 2 cuts then from Clottey banging on it, he ripped the bit of flesh that was seperating it and turned it into a huge gash, the thing was nasty looking, one of the worst cuts this year, i'd go so far to say that it was just as bad or worse than the Barrera gash, maybe not in size, but in how it took away from Cotto's ability to see out of the eye, don't see why Cotto's getting so much flack for moving back, he was boxing on the back foot, and yet would still whack Clottey with those big left hooks like he did in the 10th, it was a good fight, just as good or better than i expected it to be, instead of bitching about the decision (which i believe Cotto deserved the knod) we should be congratulating both for stepping up and taking on one of the most dangerous opponents available, they put it all on the line and should both get props for it, other fighters should take the same example
