Re: Hatton Hints at Comeback....!
I really wanted to see him retire; but given a little time to think about it since he got trainwrecked by Pac, I would like to see him have one or two ast hoorahs; he has been a fave of mine and he's got to be wanting to go out better than his last one.
I'd love to see him and Katsidis go to war; and that's exactly what it would be.
Re: Hatton Hints at Comeback....!
He's definitely going to fight again but it's going to have to be a farewell-type fight against a Lazcano-type feather fisted puncher. Even Katsidis has a big chance of knocking him out because Hatton's punch resistance is nonexistent now. He'll be three or four stones over 140 right now and every time he has to make 140 again will take more and more out of him.
Re: Hatton Hints at Comeback....!
He can't take a decent punch anymore so I would like to see him retire.
Re: Hatton Hints at Comeback....!
hatton has been my favourite fighter for years, but hes had his day, please retire son. i seen an interview on hattonboxing.tv when he was promoting danny butlers fight and his speech aint queit right, nothing major but dirrerent from a few years ago. i fear any of the top ten 140 lb ers will beat him today. MAY I SAY FOR THE RECORD THO, THE HATTON THAT BEAT TYSZU WILL BEAT ANY FIGHT FROM 140 TO 147 TODAY. i think after that fight he could never come like that again. long live hatton tho

Hatton fan myself, bold statement that one (well I bolded it;D) but I think he was at his absolute peak that night, he just would not be denied, his style was awful for Kostya but it shows how old Ricky has got when you compare that fight to the Pac or Lazcano fight.
Regardless of what he decides, the signed glove and pic mount will be on my wall for decades to come.
Re: Hatton Hints at Comeback....!
It would be funny if he fought Bobby Pacquiao to get revenge.
Re: Hatton Hints at Comeback....!
There's always a place for boxers like Hatton. Just put him in with another brawler and it'll be a smash. Like Gatti-Ward.

I agree 100% Hatton showed just how great he really is and that he is one of the Greatest Junior Welterweights of All-Time on that night. There is no way anybody today could have beaten Hatton. Hatton was a machine taking blow after blow and eventually making probably the 2nd Greatest Junior Welterweight of All-Time quit on his stool. I would love to see Hatton fight more, but he's a shot fighter now, but I believe he can still be a force.

Truth is we dont know how bad/good hatton could of been that night because it was over so quickly and the only underlying factor from the night was that hattons reflexes had clearly diminished.
As long as he stays away from the big 3 (floyd-pac-marquez) i see no reason why ricky shouldnt have at least 2-3 fights left in him.
If ricky wants to get back to the top and is prepared to do it the hard way there would still be huge interest both in the UK and across the world. If however hatton is planning one final payday against a complete no-goer like lazcano infront of 80,000 at wembley/manchester id just prefer he`d save everyone the trouble and leave the sport for good.
What we saw was bad enough. He wasn't going to get any better

No doubt. With the ref in his pocket, letting him do whatever he wants Hatton is damn near unbeatable.
Re: Hatton Hints at Comeback....!
There's still one or two big money fights for him but he won't be the attraction. Well from a commerical point he will be, he still sells tickets but I mean from the point of view of the American media.
Imagine he fights Tim Bradley, Juan Diaz or Nate Campbell I'd imagine HBO would very much be seeing him as the big name opponent for one of these guys to put on their resume. Right now I'd say all three fights would be absolute pick ems.
He won't fight Witter. although knowing Zab Judah's uncanny ability to get a big fight I wouldn't be suprised if we saw Hatton vs Judah.
And I'm sure Hatton will happily suffer another embarrassing KO loss and VD sig vid for the millions he'd get fighting Oscar, never rule that one out.
He still has options........
Re: Hatton Hints at Comeback....!
Ricky was clearly outclassed by Manny and I wonder how much of his non performance was down to the obvious weight issues he has,as he clearly looked as though he had had the life sucked out of him...
He has two options in my opinion that both lead to the same thing..
1..Fight at 140 against the lesser fighters in the division and risk losing against fighters who would'nt have lived with him 2/3 yars ago, just because he does'nt want to go out on the back of a big defeat..
2..Fight at 147 where the weight issues don't come in to play as much, but his inability to be able to take their power does..
Its clear that he wants to carry on for at least another couple of fights, but all roads lead to RETIREMENT for me and preferably now!

Who knows maybe he can fight the winner of Kotelnik-Khan and fill up those massive stadiums in the UK. He should be a huge favorite against both.
I think that's precisely what he's doing, waiting for the winner of that fight. Neither is a concussive puncher and it would be for a rtitle.
Re: Hatton Hints at Comeback....!
Did someone say, Erik Morales? heehheh They both want a comeback and most say they should hang it up. Morales, TKO 3rd round. Even an old and small Morales. :P
On the serious side,
Hatton obviously needs a carefully handpicked opponent, one with a relatively good record, who can't hit worth beans. I don't know who that is.
Re: Hatton Hints at Comeback....!
He was always a bad style matchup for Kostya, I think he would have been hell for KT "prime" or not. But I totally disagree that the Hatton of that night somehow beats any 140-147 guy now. Cotto at 147 (and probably 140), and Mayweather at either weight would be too much for him. At 147 Williams, Clottey, Margo all would be too much for him. That's not a knock on him, those are all either great fighters or very good ones who were too big for him and/or like to put plaster in their gloves.
