I thought I saw an interview with Clapton years ago where he talked about having a written arrangement for the song on a table, with various parts labeled (verse, chorus, etc.) The label "bridge" happened to be at the top of a page, and when Harrison came in, he thought it read Badge. I could be way off, though - I've lost many a brain cell along the way ;D

I was curious so I googled the answer. I had no idea that that individual died that way or before that song came out. Very interesting.

Yeah, I always knew the how, but the timing I didn't know until very recently

I'm pretty sure this is Otis Redding, although I'm going off a memory of my Dad telling me about this bit of trivia, so I may have mixed people up
