Kevin Mitchell is another one who is good aswell, he's only 24 i want him to step it up soon not really sure what level he is at.
Re: Amir Khan calls out the big names.
Mitchell was meant to be fighting Roman Martinez for the WBO title around this time.
Like all other fights this year it seems to have disappeared for the time being

Shame would of been a good measuring stick for him, to be honest i've seen a few of Roman Martinez's fights. And i don't think he's that good to be honest, he's a solid fighter but he's very beatable and i'd give Kevin Mitchell a decent chance.

I thought Junior Witter was the 2nd best British boxer right now.

I think MItchell will beat him. But it'll definitely be a tremendous punch-up. Probably an up-and-downer.
Look like it's still on for September.
Re: Amir Khan calls out the big names.
I just don't see Khan ever having the ability to beat JMM, Pac or PBF. Yes, he has great handspeed, but those guys are up there with some of the ATGs. They can't just be beaten by speed. Although by the time Khan hits his peak those guys will either be in their 40s or approaching it.
They need to avoid talk of him fighting welters right now, or they'll get themselves into the trap of talking a division ahead like at 135. If he beats Kotelnik, & its a big if, then he can focus on 140, which looks like it could become a stacked division. Fighting Maidana would get him a lot more credit amongst the boxing community, & then there's the possibility of some BIG fights with the likes of Alvarado, Bradley, Devon Alexander, Valero if he moves up & Ortiz if he can come back from the Maidana defeat, which I think he will.
Talking about Top 5 guys at WW is just stupid right now.
EDIT: I think Martinez beats Mitchell, because Mitchell can't resist the temptation to mix it & Martinez doesn't hit like Carl Johanneson

Not really sure what you meant by your last comment, so when you reply explain that to me mate. Because i don't think Roman Martinez is really a big puncher, 13 KO's out of 22 wins is only a fair KO record.

It would about as much as Calzaghe beating Hopkins.
Still no mention of a re-match with the guy who knocked him out....because he was just lucky and Khan's past all that, he's improved so much etc, etc.
Re: Amir Khan calls out the big names.
After that virtuoso performance against Barrera don't we have to say that he's improved?

I'm not going by his boxrec, I'm going on the fights of his I've seen. When he catches someone they feel it, if you watch his fights you'll see he's got some pretty good power, however, he doesn't always throw in the most effective manner & I think some of those decisions are where they've tried to get him to work on his boxing in what are basically warm-up bouts. Most of his fights against better opponents he takes them out. I'm not saying he's Valero, but he has more power than anyone Mitchell has faced & I don't think Mitchell will take em well.
Re: Amir Khan calls out the big names.
Well technically I think he has improved. :-\

Well i've seen a few of his fights and i agree he probably has more power, than his record suggests but i think Kevin Mitchell. Has a pretty solid punch resistance. I've seen him take big punches without really looking bothered, and i don't think Roman Martinez hits really that hard.
He's been taken 12 rounds by guys like Francisco Lorenzo, Daniel Jimenez, in which he did struggle. And remember this is probably the best opponent Roman Martinez has fought and vice a versa for Kevin Mitchell.

It proved he has a solid forehead. As long as he keeps getting punched there and not his chin he'll do fine.

I'd say Johanneson, although Brit class, is an above average puncher at SF. Martinez looked in trouble against Cook and couldn't get rid of Estrada.
I think Mitchell is much tougher than Cook and hits harder.. so slightly favour him.
