Re: Who should Khan fight next?
bilbo. Kahn has done the exact same thing as hatton did moved up a weight and fought a paper champ but the main difference is hatton won a version at his natural weight first. Against KOSTYA TSZYU. Clearly hatton is not at his best up at welter but at least he wasnt running from his natural weight just to claim a world title.

It also took Hatton 39 fights to fight for a world title, Kahn did it nearly in half the time.

Dont get me wrong Kosta was an amzing fighter p4p number 3 atg, but why comparing Hatton to Khan?? In his 22nd fight Hatton was still fighting road sweepers, Khan did good he beat a good Champ.

Kahn won a silver medal at the olympics and has been fast tracked to a world title. Hatton had to go the long route central area champ, wbo,wba intercontinental belts, british belt. Then hatton made the wbu title his own defending it against good and bad opposition. My point is kahn won a world title yes but he would need 39 fights to go in against someone as dangereouse as kostya. By his own admission he said he is not in marquez class the true lightweight world champ. So his easiest route to a title kotelnick. Crappy way to become champ.

So you think any self respecting fighter should refuse to fight for a world title unless they can get a world title shot at a p4p and future hall of famer star then?
Interesting logic you have there my friend.

Yeah but Tyszu hadn't fought in well over a year, ended up quitting in the fight and then immediately retired.
I think it's fair to say Hatton didn't beat a prime version.
More like an old, fading version of a great fighter, a bit like Khan beating Barrera maybe ;)
Re: Who should Khan fight next?
I think Ortiz would be a good fight, just to prove who is the better prospect, although I suppose we can't call Khan a prospect anymore. After that, he can turn his attention to fighting a mandatory.

The funny thing is now I think it's GBP who wouldn't wanna risk Ortiz against Khan. If Ortiz can work his way back up to a world title & Khan still has one, then in about 2 years this could be a real super-fight

Thank you, it seems like people keep on thinking that Kostya was in his prime or something when Hatton fought him. Don't forget Kostya wasn't really active.
Re: Who should Khan fight next?
He should fight Maidana to see who the best WBA lightwelter world champ is but there's zero chance of that happening. Erik Morales next in America or Hatton in Manchester.

Marquez is the lightweight champion, he is engaged with Mayweather.
So what is the difference between a paper champ at 135 and 140? Either way Khan would have been getting a shot at an alphabet holder. ;)

I'm presuming Khan will stay at junior welter now.
By they way is nobody going to give the young Khan any credit for moving up a weight class and fighting for and winning a world title in (virtually) his first fight at the weight?
How many fighters have done that? Marquez, Pacquaio, Floyd.......not bad company methinks.
Hatton looked awful against Collazo and he was no more highly rated than Kotelnik at the time, merely seen as an unknown paper champ.
garbage post and you know it, Mikay got dropped off for being a wind up merchant, for some reason some people like you, maybe it's your age.
I would advise anyone who wants a sensible discussion to avoid this thread.

That's a bit harsh considering Khan dominated Kotelnik from start to finish. Even if you think Maidana beat Kotelnik it was very close.
Agree the Maidina fight wont happen though.
