Re: When was Ricky Hatton in his prime!
don't think Warren held him back, what if he'd fought a younger Tszyu 18 months earlier and maybe concede home advantage? he probably would have come up a little short and gone back to fighting euro level and maybe NEVER getting the lucrative fights.
I agree with a lot of the criticism of Warren, but he handled Hatton's career perfectly. He delivered the no.1 guy in his division for him at exactly the right time (aging a little and coming off a long lay off while Ricky was peaking) on home turf with a home ref. That fight MADE him, and therefore Warren MADE him. After leaving Warren it was Hatton's camp which decided that they weren't ready for Floyd, and that's why they waited to get him.
Re: When was Ricky Hatton in his prime!
Ricky was in his prime one second before the bell rang for the Mayweather fight
Re: When was Ricky Hatton in his prime!
Hatton was most probably at his best a year prior to Kostya and whilst beating Kostya. Since then he has blown hot and cold for rounds and arguably fights at a time. You could say that this was due to the level of opposition but I would say its more a question of strategy.
I watch Calzaghe and see something timeless, I watch Hatton and see something that is oftentimes a lot of hard work. With a better mindset he could have been a lot better.
Re: When was Ricky Hatton in his prime!
Some primes are long some are short.
Some are longer some are shorter.
Hattons prime was on 06/04/2005.
IMO.

I'm somewhere between the two myself tbh
completely spot on
I like to think the tszyu he fought in manchester was indeed the hard hitting russian technician who was almost unmovable at the weight. Hatton that night gave britain one of its finest sporting succeses not in the fact he became a world champ but in the manner he had done it in.
The immidiate fight after that he came up against a very average carlos maussa who he blew away but then when america came calling and particularly his decision to move up the weights he found his physical superiority over opponents was no longer their and had to rely on his technical prowess to get through second tier fighters.
The hatton that fought pacquiao was a complete shell of the guy that beat tszyu back in 2005. Thats not an excuse but a common fact
That sounds like an excuse. And another lame one.
Here are the reasons that Hatton lost to Floyd and Manny according to the Hatton groupies.
For Floyd:
-Floyd used elbows
-Joe Cortez referee the fight.
-Hatton fought at 147
-Hatton was past his prime
-Hatton lost his cool when deducted for pts.
-Hatton lost his punch resistance after the tszyu fight
For Manny:
-Hatton was weight drain at 140 because of his lifestyle outside the ring
-Hatton lost his punch resistance after the tszyu fight
-Hatton was past his prime
-It was Floyd Senior's fault
-Hatton was emotional and couldn't concentrate because of Floyd Senior
Since most of the Hatton groupies are British I'll use an simple example so you guys understand. Ricky Hatton is Frank Bruno while Floyd and Manny are Lennox Lewis. You get it now? Do you guys understand that Hatton's talent level is nowhere near that of Floyd's and Manny's?
I agree completely, i have grown tired of Hatton fans coming up with excuses for his defeats to Mayweather and Pacquiao, i wish they would just accept that he was taken to school by Mayweather and destroyed by Manny. There is no shame in him losing to 2 great fighters, so get over it and stop making excuses. He was fairly beaten by better fighters. FACT.
