I see it being a carbon copy of Mayweather-Hatton. Mayweather having control for the majority of the fight, but JMM not giving up and keep steaming forward, with Mayweather eventually opening up and dominating in the late rounds, forcing a stoppage.

I think he NEEDS to stop him to make a statement.
If he beats Marquez anything like he beat Gatti then it's 100% certain Marquez was way too small for the weight. He's far too good to get beaten like that by anyone.
I like this fight because they are two great fighters, but Floyd has a serious size advantage. If they were level weights Floyd would still be the favourite yet Marquez is basically giving him 10 pounds.
Still.. you never know
Im not sure if he does stops JMM but i think he needs to so he can make a statement.
Mayweather is the bigger guy but I was thinking of the following and I don't think Mayweather will stop Marquez..
ON PAPER..
It took Mayweather 10 rounds to stop Ricky Hatton. Marquez is 10 times better at defence and countering than Hatton and I believe hits harder and has 10 times the chin.
Pacquiao KO'd Hatton in 2. He knocked Hatton out cold. Pacquiao landed lots of these shots on Marquez, three of them put him on his bum in the first round and he still managed to pull back a draw. I think Pac hits much harder than Mayweather and matches Mayweather for hand speed.
I think Marquez is being very under rated before this fight and I don't believe what I saw on the 24/7 show that showed him being very agressive towards his sparring partners. Marquez is very crafty himself. Something is telling me this isn't going to be the ussual one sided Mayweather punching bag fight everybody thinks it will be.
I will watch this fight, not with excitement, but with a great deal of interest.
Mayweather will use his added weight to his advantage. JMM puts on a brave fight but will loose. I hope he does see the fight out to the decision being made.
Mayweather doesn't really want to face Pacquiao (coming from a PBF fan). PAC is a stylistic nightmare for Floyd. The fact he's a southpaw creates a lot of problems for Floyd. I believe Mayweather is a superior fighter but he's just gonna have problems with a fast southpaw. What does he do?
He goes and dominates the guy that almost beat Pacquiao but is taylor made for his style. Marquez is orthodox and slower than him: perfect. By destroying JMM (a guy that gave PAC fits), he will make a strong statement without having to take the risk against Manny. I might be wrong but I think this is what he's thinking. If I'm correct he'll probably stop Marquez. While in most fights he's lazy, I doubt he will this time.
Floyd will win, I don't really know if it's going to be by UD, KO, or TKO, but he will win. Every advantage is in Floyds favor. Younger, Bigger, stronger, heavier, less wear and tear, faster in hand and foot, and more boxing skills. The only disadvantage Floyd has is ring rust.
Being a fan of both...I say that this may very well be a FOTY caliber bout...but NO...I don't see him blowing out Marquez like he did Hatton.
Hatton & Marquez are miles apart & Marquez is always adjusting, always shifting, always INTELLIGENTLY countering, & can punch on the backfoot. He aint gonna be there to be hit & he sure as shit aint gonna pull his forehead into the buckle.
That being said...I think Floyd'll beat him.
I love both fighters...& I'ma pick Marquez on heart alone...but I still say Floyd wins & that's using the head.
No he won't knock out Marquez...least I hope not.
I still say Marquez will surprise many of you.
I've noticed that when Mayweather fights someone whom he feels physically superior to, he tends to go on attack mode as early as possible. Thus, I predict that Mayweather will try to take out Marquez as soon as the bell rings (I am not saying Mayweather will go at Marquez a la Hatton vs. Manny).
However, this approach could be tricky because Marquez is a counterpuncher and this style that Mayweather will use (in my opinion) may leave him open to counters moreso than ever. Still, I don't think Marquez will carry his power to that weight. Most likely a mid late round ko for Mayweather.
I've been getting a feeling about a Marquez surprise too Wacko.
He's just too damn good to dismiss in this fight as some posters have done - He's just as smart as Floyd is in that ring and if he comes well prepared on the night, then who knows?
Advantage Floyd - but that always leaves room for surprises. Don't count Marquez out
No
Exactly. I'll rep ya when I can good brother.
Totally agree...Marquez's abilities are totally under rated & I think that it says alot that he's the Mexi that's outlasted all the rest.
That muh's a Mexi-can all the way...& I honestly think that he can beat Floyd...but I just don't think he will.
That being said...if he can...now's the time. I think that he's preped well & that he may be able to carry the weight a little better now than against Casa & Diaz.
I'm hoping against hope that he can pull it out...even though Floyd's one of my FOAT's & I wanted to see him retire undefeated...but losing & avenging a loss is even better.
I'd love to see him lose, win, & then fight/stop Pacquiao.
But that's just me! ;D
It would be a huge statement for Mayweather to make!
But I just don't see it happening, although its not beyond the bounds of possibility. I think Floyd will test the waters early to see what Marquez has got at this higher weight. Once he discovers how tough the Mexican is gonna be to beat I think he'll revert to his counter punching, defensive best. This may in fact lead to Marquez getting hammered down the stretch, but I think Marquez' pride & warrior instincts won't let him fall & carry him to the final bell.
this is a good fight ... marquez will win in a split decision ... there will no KO or stoppage ...
