I agree with you, I don't think this fight ever happens and they will use money and weight to discard it. if you listen to Roach he's already setting it up so it never happens. He says ho hum to Floyds win and he blew it in negotiations by not knocking out Marquez. If Manny wins against Cotto and becomes a welter champ I don't see how they could use weight as an issue though.

I don't agree with Roach saying it won't be equal pay and Mayweather needs them more than they need him i think they need eachother equally now to prove to the fans who is P4P#1. This should be a 50/50 purse and just get on with it for the fans boxers are turning in to bloody Divas and Manny has to get by Cotto first.
I agree with Roaches assessment of the fight and also with his thoughts on Floyd. I also agree that Floyd is not the guy that puts asses in the seats for the most part... It is almost always his opponants. Anybody would be hard pressed to say otherwise... In addition, many of the people that buy the figth on Floyd's part are buying to see him lose, not win.
I do agree that this should be a 50/50 fight, though. Although I have my misgivings with Floyd, Manny's camp needs to see that a 50/50 fight is the only way to make it happen, even 55/45, Floyd would bawk at. Floyd is a truely great boxer but has dilusions of grandeur as far as his drawing power.

Great post, Roach has been pissing me off lately, especially the way everyone seems to think the sun shines out of his arse.
I honestly think Roach gets the pity vote when it comes to the shit talk he gets away with - Because he looks like a frail, old(ish) man with Parkinsons it seems that he gets away with the trash talk.
Sorry, but he's coming across as an arsehole. Wasn't it the other day he said his Cuban prospect could take out Marquez now if he wanted to?
Well, your main charge the Pacman, couldn't take out Marquez so what would it say about him if your prospect could? Stop talkin shit

Pride, I'm interested to know why you still feel that Mayweather isn't a draw when his bouts with Oscar drew 2.4 million and his bout with Hatton drew 900k buys?
If we compare Pacquaio's numbers, they are 1.2 million with Oscar and 825k with Hatton?
Why do you think this is, if it is Floyds opponents that are the draw?
Surely, if Pacquaio was more of a draw the numbers against his opponents who were also draws, should have dwarfed the figures that Mayweather achieved with same opponents?
I know you say people tune in to see Floyd lose but even if this was the case, it still equates to him being a draw regardless of why the fans tune in, right?

Their opponants were not the "P4P champion"... Are you seriously telling me you think it's Mayweather that sold any of the above mentioned fights?
C'mon... Floyd's mouth draws more then his fist do...
I am not a Floyd hater, I'm just saying...
Do I think Floyd is probably one of the most gifted defensive fighters of all time? Yes... But so was Sweet Pea.
Re: Roach rips Floyds performance
Well, yeah this is what I'm sayin.
"Floyds mouth draws more than his fists do" - "They were not fighting the P4P champion"
Regardless of how he gets fans buying - They seem to be buying. I'm not saying people enjoy his style but if they buy because of his big mouth or to see him lose then he is STILL a draw.
We may have to agree to disagree because all I'm seeing is figures show Mayweather fighting the same opponents with better figures.
Again, I'm not saying people bought because of his boxing but whatever their reasons, they bought and in bigger numbers than Pacquaio's fights with same opponents.
I'm assuming his fight with Marquez is going to do more numbers than both of Pacs fight with him too.
I didn't accuse you of being a Floyd hater dood. Was just after a decent discussion ;D

Nah, not even agree to disagree... I guess we agree to a certain extent. I see your point BUT, for instance... Right now, if Floyd were to fight Josh Clottey... Would that be a PPV? He's a top Welter(of course, there'd be no reason for Floyd to fight him right now... But just for instance)Let's be more realistic though... Why would he pick a prime welterweight? ;) How about Tim Bradley, Nate Campbell or Juan Diaz... All top Jr Welters... PPV material? Floyd's the draw, right? Maybe Andre Berto... He holds a welterweight belt... PPV material? Floyd could sell it, right?
Fact is that people bought this fight for the "what if" not for the "what"
Tyson, ODLH... These guys sold fights... These guys were "whats"... Floyd is a very skilled boxer and promoter that cons the public.
I will say that Floyd is amazing at what he does... He is a highly skilled defensive fighter to whom not many in history can be compared... But drawing power is drawing power... Hatton had it... Pac has it... Marquez has it... Cotto has it... Gatti had it...
Floyd is a name that people know... But most of the non-purist general public will never buy one of his fights after seeing one initially... Why would they?
Re: Roach rips Floyds performance
I'm seeing what you mean Pride.
I guess it is difficult to say now how he would sell against a lesser draw because he isn't likely to fight one.
I would have definitely agreed with you up until the Baldomir fight - I don't think that fight did well but since the De La Hoya fight I think they've marketed him very well as being some sort of boxing god which gets people buying whether they like him or not.
Would be interesting to see if he went back to fighting a guy who was a bit of a no-name in the sport, whether the numbers would still be high.

This is true... He has been marketed well. He, on the cover, is a promotional wet dream... 5 weight div world champ... Undefeated in 40 fights... Wins over Corrales, Castillo, ODLH, Marquez, Gatti and Hatton... I mean, I see what you mean as well. His attitude is also provacative...
I would be very interested to see that as well... As I could be totally proven wrong. Love him or hate him, he's boxing royalty.
