Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
Here's what I see, Cotto is overconfident. It's in his words. He may have started training for this fight early but that's basically because of the $1 million per pound penalty. So basically he started early to make sure he comes in at the weight. Not because he is preparing to face Pacquiao. He repeats the same line that Hatton made and that he is too big for Pacquiao. "He's never faced a true natural welterweight".
Pac wins this one.
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
I'm voting Cotto ( ya relax Fenster I'll go hit the button in a minute :p), but who knows. How many times have we been wrong about Pac before?
He's a bit of a freak of nature, doing what's he's done already, so I ain't putting anything past him, in spite of conflicts or what have ya.
Been a Cotto fan for a while. Bit off topic, but I'd like to give Margarito a kick in the nuts with a plaster boot! (It would obv serve no good hitting him in his dumb rock-filled head)

There's no $1 million per pound penalty for this fight, that was only with Oscar. He started camp early, so he can take the weight off safely, which is the smart thing to do.
Overconfident? Cotto says the same thing for every fight. "Fights are won in training camp". "We will be prepared for anything he brings", etc, etc...
The only new stuff is about Manny not facing a true welterweight, which is true.
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
I'm going with Bob Arum's matchmaker on this one. Arum wants a fight where Manny wins and his matchamker (forget the name right now) has a proven history of getting it right, knows the two fighters and where they are in terms of current ability etc., and he advised Arum to make the fight. Top Rank are expecting a Manny win, I'm going with them.
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
i would love for Cotto to pound the shit outta Manny but that wont be the case. Pac by stoppage :(
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
Pacquiao is going to stop Cotto. I hope I'm wrong.

Well, I'm not on here quite as relentlessly now that I've got a job, but when I do post, I make sure I know what I'm talking about, although generally I stay out of threads in Let's Get It On unless I'm very well informed on it, hence why I've mostly stayed out of the Hall of Fame 'gays in the army' thread.
The irony is Bilbo, I often do agree with you when it comes to boxing matters, I see us more like Al Pacino & Robert De Niro in Heat. :p
On this point though, I'll explain why I'm going for Manny. It's not because I think he's unbeatable, it's more down to Cotto. I'm pretty sure he's not the same fighter he was before, I think he's slightly more gunshy & his timing has gone a bit. Moreover, I really do think he'll need to KO Pac to get a win. Cotto being the fighter he is, he will give away at least 4-5 rounds in the fight, plus he is liable to fight dirty. Now whilst he might be able to get away with that in New York against Clottey, Mosley & Judah (I know he KO'd Zab), he won't get any of the benefits against Pacquiao. He will lose some rounds & has to be careful not to lose points 'accidentally' low-blowing & hip-tossing Pac. I think if Pacquiao gets at least 4 rounds he will win the fight, because Cotto will leave some too close as he always does & this time in Vegas with a Mayweather fight on the horizon, he won't get the breaks he did with Clottey in New York.
So yeah Pac has to survive to the bell, which I think he will & he'll be the new champ. If it's close, we'll then have many new posters joining to express their outrage at the decision & how they're never gonna watch boxing again etc etc. Meanwhile the minions of Xadu will all pile in here to make our lives unbearable & ratchet up support for Mayweather ahead of their fight.
Fact.

Ah.. yea there is! You can hear it from Larry Merchant radio interview for that LISTEN NOW: CINTRON ACCUSES MANNY OF “STEROIDS” ON “RING TALK RADIO”

Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
One thing is for sure, I will refrain from posting in this forum after the fight else I be charged of being a 'minion of Xadu'.;D
My mind says Cotto will be too big for Pac just like when my mind said that Hatton and DLH will be too big for Pac.
My heart says, Pac will TKO Cotto in the 3rd round (before the 4th round) if Cotto engages Pac early.
I need to have a bet on this fight. This fight is too big not to make a bet on it.
This is historic for the Philippines and even for the boxing world. Seven titles in different weight categories is historic and I need to be part of this history in my own little way.
Name your bet and it's as good as approved as long as there is no conflict with other bettors. First come, first served.
MY BOLD BET: PAC will win this fight. Pac by TKO if Cotto engages Pac. Pac by UD if Cotto runs.

I'd gladly bet with you but, unfortunately, we agree; though I don't think Pacquiao will stop Cotto before the third round. However there is zero chance Cotto runs from Pacquiao.
I'm willing to bet that Pac doesn't stop Cotto before the 4th round, but you'd have to be insane to take that.
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
pac by decision. different class of fighter.

LOL. That's why I said, " my heart says". Hehehe. I'm still thinking if I will take your bet regarding the " before the 4th round" condition. It's insanity to have that bet so for the moment, I'll be looking for other bettors. For the moment, my bet stands: Pac wins this fight . ;)

Yes Manny has speed, but a few digs to the body will likely change that.
Cotto is leaps and bounds ahead of a weight drained Oscar and a useless Ricky Hatton.
I'm expecting Cotto to dominate and stop Manny.
LOL
that again?
Pacquiao's hand speed will serve him well BUT his FOOT SPEED will be too much for Cotto. There wont be any body to dig againts PAC.
PAC by KO/TKO
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
My heart says Cotto. My head says Pac. If this fight took place before Cotto had faced Margerito...i would pick Cotto to win without hesitation. But since that fight...there are several question marks about Miguel and Pac has gained huge momentum. Things that worry me about Cotto at the moment: 1) how will his body react to coming down to 145. Sure, on paper 2 pounds isn't much...but you never know what losing weight can do to a fighters stamina (and Cotto's stamina is not as great as Pac's). 2) has he truly recovered mentally and physically from the Margerito fight. He showed heart against Clottey...but he also seemed a bit more plodding than usual. While Pac is a fighter with weaknesses...he is relentless and supremely confident. Does Cotto still got what it takes menetally and physically to match that? 3) and this is the biggest question for me. Does Cotto's trainer have the experience to draw up the right game plan and also handle this stage? I will be honest (and it could be me reading too much into 24/7), Cotto seems to be training himself for this fight (and no...i don't mean to agree with Roach). Cotto will be at a physical disadvantage for this fight. Pac is clearly faster and Cotto absolutely cannot depend on the whole "i am bigger and stronger" theory. He will have to fight a technical fight and offset Pac's hand and foot speed advantage. Pac, for all of his improvements, basically still fights one way: jumps in with flurries. Cotto needs to use his great jab and draw Pac in to counter him...and then later in the fight try to assert his power shots. Cotto will also need to have a good start and control the pace of the fight early. If pac gets off to a good start...i don't see Cotto having the legs to make it up later in the fight. Are him and his team up for that? I have no idea. Both fighters love to mix it up...so there is potential for fireworks. But if Cotto doesn't fight smart and instead try to out strength Pac by chasing him and hoping to pin against the ropes...this fight could end early for Miguel. pac certainly has his own issue: too many distractions, over confident after over hyped wins over Oscar and Hatton, etc. So it will be interesting to see how he comes into this fight as well. I hope it's a great fight!
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
Watched the 3rd 24/7. Seems more harmony in Team Pac (between Roach and Pac at least) once they relocated to LA.
I don't think this fight will go the distance. Someone is getting busted up.
Pac by stoppage - 5/6
Cotto by stoppage - 7/2
If my life was on it i'd back Pac. He's too fast. Those odds are telling me to back Cotto though.
Go Cotto!!!
