Re: Ricky Hatton ready to return
Hatton still has some left to be competitive at 140 but not against the top guys.
His declining punch resistance against the likes of Maidana, Bradley, Khan, etc looks like nothing but bad news to me.
If Lazcano can hurt him, Bradley and Khan have enough pop.
Re: Ricky Hatton ready to return
Jesus, why would he do that to himself. Getting kO'd at Man City's stadium. That's embarassing.

I don't even think it's declining. He's just fought guys who don't let him off the hook when he's hurt. Magee, Tackie, Rios and Phillips all hurt him just as much as Lazcano did. Just nobody ever really mentions it. He's always had an average chin imo. It just got over-rated because Tszyu never hurt him.

You make a good point actually. Collazo hurt him also and almost took him out.

I think Hatton showed a very good chin in the Collazo fight. While Collazo is not a hard puncher, he was tattooing Hatton all night and only managed to hurt him in the 12th round.

If Hatton can look good in this comeback fight against Marquez, which he might very well do, then I want to see a Bradley fight. Or even a Khan fight if they can work something out. Maybe that's a bit optimistic, but that's because I've had a glass of wine.
Your wording is weird here. You want to see a Bradley fight or even a Khan fight? So Khan is higher up on your list?

I see it the other way around. Collazo isn't a hard puncher and he was able to rattle Hatton. If a guy's punches aren't hard you should be able to shake them off and keep coming. Especially considering Ricky made a career of doing just that. Maybe Collazo was the beginning of the end?

I think the Collazo fight was definitely the beginning of the end for Hatton, I've said so on numerous occasions. Regarding your other point, Collazo was the biggest fighter Hatton had ever faced and regardless of whether or not he is a big puncher at 147, he still has some pop and displayed his sharpness and accuracy in the Hatton fight. He peppered Hatton all night long and was only able to hurt him at the end of the fight with a great combination. Given the circumstances, I don't think Hatton displayed a weak chin at all in the Collazo fight, but I do think the punishment he absorbed had a lingering, long-term effect on him as a fighter.
Re: Ricky Hatton ready to return
Unless Hatton's comeback includes Dave Paris it won't be successful. Hatton is done. But with his God Father Paris as the 3rd man in the ring he has a chance.
Re: Ricky Hatton ready to return
I wanted to see Hatton retire, but i dont really blame him for considering a comeback fight to retire on a high.I menetioned that he would fight Marquez months ago after he got smashed by manny.Marquez will be a real test for hatton to see if he has the desire to fight real come forward fighter. And like Miles mentioned, maybe fight Khan and then retire if he loses that.
Re: Ricky Hatton ready to return
Hatton is an overdue fighter. Thanks for the memories. He took out one of my favorite boxer, Tszyu.

No, Khan is not above Bradley or Marquez. A twisted part of me would just like to see Hatton have a domestic showdown and put a beating on Khan. There are hazy recollections of the Khan/Barrera fight in my mind that need sweeping away and Hatton doing it would be nice.
I don't rate Khan all that highly, but as an end of career fight I think it fits the bill for Hatton. It will probably never happen though.
Re: Ricky Hatton ready to return
Hatton is done, as soon as he gets tagged he stands there waving his hands about waiting for the attack to stop while looking for a spot on the canvas to land on.

Same here, was a tough fight to watch, I wanted Tszyu to win but I also wanted Ricky to look as tough as he was and put up a good fight. We all know Tszyu was past his best but Hatton never stopped and with a little help from the ref won a tough fight which threw him into the big money fights. Imagine if he never won that fight? No Floyd Hatton fight, Pac fight, Castillo KO etc...
Re: Ricky Hatton ready to return
Stick a fork in him he's done....
Unfortunatley it will take a beating from someone considered a lesser opponent than the level he's been fighting to convince him.
Maybe Naseem Hamed come come back and fight him.... assuming Naz could lose 4 stone to get down to 140 ;D
