It is early days yet and this could just be a negociation tool to Maidana's people that they need Amir more than he needs them, so Warren will offer peanuts to them.

Con fears Maidana. That's pretty obvious
High risk low reward my arse, this was a chance to silence people like me and all the other doubters. This just makes Khan look a lot worse.
Of course it's high risk, low reward. It's the very example of such a fight.
He should still fight him, but he's not going to put his career on the line to silence a few internet doubters.
Maybe if us fans weren't so quick to write fighters off after a loss, more promoters would take more risks with their champions. Just a thought.
Not suprising really Marcos Rene Maidana is far too much of a risk, but the only argument from people i don't get. Is "Amir Khan is too young/inexperienced, he still has plenty of time".
Im not being funny but he's had a ton of Amateur experience, aswell as 20+ pro fights with a world title under his belt, if he's not ready now to atleast step up.
Then when will he be ready ? sooner or later he's got to take on a puncher, and to be honest Marcos Rene Maidana is nothing special, he's a crude fighter and the only thing he can do is punch.
But atleast he can punch so there is still a danger element there, and he has alot of hype in the USA after his win over Victor Ortiz. And Amir Khan would get alot of credit for beating a genuine puncher, because that would show he has made legit improvements.
I would be very disappointed if Amir Khan side-stepped Marcos Rene Maidana, and to be honest it does make Amir Khan look like a coward if he does indeed avoid him.
Because he did state he would fight him, now Freddie Roach is on about side-stepping him. So if he did indeed avoid him now, it would be obvious Amir Khan only made those comments to not look like a coward.
Which is really a cowards move IMO, Amir Khan vs Paulie Malignaggi is a decent fight. But come on Paulie Malignaggi couldn't even knockout his grandma.
We want to see Amir Khan in with a puncher, no one's got a problem with you fighting someone like Paulie Malignaggi. But if you fight him while in the process of avoiding Marcos Rene Maidana, then that really is a cowards move. Come on Amir Khan just fight and beat one puncher, then you will silence all the doubters.
Exactly, the man has been pulling the wool over everyones eyes for far too long. He makes me sicker and sicker, the more of this shit he pulls.
This guy is the biggest Snake Oil seller in boxing today
I too think Khan takes Maidana but is that fear of getting his chin touched going to make him avoid everyone???
Looks like the Maidana fight is making progress. I hope it goes ahead, if Khan can win that one, he will have earnt my respect as a world champ.
From Frank Warren speaking to skysports news today:
Khan is due to make the second defence of his title against Marcos Maidana of Argentina.
The fight has gone to purse bids and more details will be confirmed next week, with Warren confident Khan can deliver again:
"We couldn't agree terms (for the fight) and we'll see what happens next week with it," he added.
"It's a tough fight for him but he's capable. Over the last 12 months he's turned into a different fighter."
Bump.
Totally worth revisiting. Khan taking on Canelo means it was Roach standing in the way of a Maidana fight.
Way more dangerous....
I've always thought Roach was an Arum middle man but in fairness it was just over a year since the world fell in with Prescott and Roach has always been one of these guys that cant shut up. Lets remember that they had a secret weapon for Floyd.
Oh and I know Khan went to GBP around that time but generally speaking Roach was an Arum lackey.
