No matter whether we agree or not, sex outside marriage is illegal in Dubai.
If a woman reported a crime in the UK (or America), and then was also discovered to have broken other laws herself, she would be charged for those offences. I don;t think that being a victim of a crime gives you a 'get out of jail free' card for any bad things you may have done yourself?
I dont get it X, whats funny about that?
Re: British women is raped in Dubai but is locked up herself..
Regarding the soft drugs. We had a guy here not long ago in our city go to court and fight a possession charge. He got caught with a 1/4 ounce of weed and was facing a fine. But yet he fought it and won. As soon as the judge delivered his decision, "Not guilty." the guy pipes up...
"So do i get my shit back now?"

Over our way here in Bali, one of the young cretins who were about smuggle heroin out of there and bring it back onto our streets was given a life sentence.
He fought that in court and so they changed it to death, he gets shot up against a wall later this year I think.
:smilie_whisper: 'shot up' no pun intended that time ...just happened.

That ain't funny.
It's an Islamic country so why are they serving alcohol?
Why let unmarried couple in the country?
Oh yeah. Money.
I've known plenty of 'good' muslims drink.
And Cairo is considered fairly liberal.

It wasn't meant to be funny, Missy ..... I was playing devil's advocate bit ......... but my point that being a victim of a crime does not give you immunity for your own crimes was meant seriously.
The fact that we may not agree that those things should be classified as crimes is not relevant (there are many laws here that I dont think should be classified as a crime, but nevertheless they are.)
The fact that she was being served alcohol is also not relevant (it is an offence for muslims to drink alcohol, but not non-muslims ..... I would think it's a trifle naive to then drink so much that you are slumped semi conscious in a toliet - thats not the way to get much sympathy from an islamic judge) Incidentally, it is Whahhabi muslims who explicitly forbid alcohol, many other forms of Islam do not (you're right about Egypt, but there is also Indonesia and lots of other places - the Koran is a bit unclear on this, its a bit like trying to get definitive predictions from Nostrodamus.)
I'm not condoning or defending any rape that took place.

My brother spent new years there and I have seen how amazing the place is from videos, pics and word of mouth. It has loads of whores, you get treated like a king and the hotels have fucking Lambo's for their guests to drive.

How dare a woman go out, she's clearly a whore, let's rape her.

I don't think it's as simple as that. Any person, male or female, should be very careful when stepping into an environment that they just don't know. Behaviour that is the norm in the UK is dangerous in places like Dubai. That doesn't excuse her being raped, but it does mean that others shouldn't follow suit. Hopefully the media attention wakes a few people up. People should stay away from shitholes like Dubai....and Las Vegas too. I don't care what people say, these are the last places on earth I would want to visit.
