Re: my 6 yr old son has headaches when punching bags, pls help, replys much apprecea
hi,to be very honest i havent a clue how long they have coached for, they have several trainers, one trainer which trains the kids the cardio bit, he is only 19, as he is the son of the coach. i dont think in my opinion that the coach is that experienced at coaching after having a conversation on the phone to him last night he had to give boxing up years ago due to headaches hes not that old himself id say plus its the first ever boxing club in my area , my son has 3 mins round and 1 min break, every bag there is an adult bag like the big everlast bags. from what your saying i think i should mention this to them as their clearly willing for the kids to use these adult bags which you say the bags are to heavy and i agree with you, as i seen on the net you can get boxing bags for certain ages, their probably in it for the money, and with my sons concerns the coach said he wont be taking children on under the age of 9, then all of a sudden said to me he can come back in 6 months once ive taken him to the doctors or if he has a doctors note, i dont think il be taking him back to there if everything is ok with my son which im hoping it is i will be travelling to take him to another gym and now i know more info thanks to you guys i got a bit of knowlege and know if that certain gym is right for my son, i will be demanding a scan, lots of people on here said it probably impact but not from boxing itself, if the headaches are caused by impact what could be wrong? i know your not a doctor but have u any idea? i will certainly not go off the doctors symptoms as i know personally myself i have to diagnose myself on the internet if im ill before i go to the doctors their that useless, but my son is important to me and there is nothing more important to me than finding out if there is anything wrong with him hope to god theres not, and i will not leave the doctors room without him arrangeing a scan and will not let him palm me off with any old krap.. thank you very much for your time and good information you and all the other members have provided to me, many many thanks, hayley..

I would definitely recommend that. Kids of that age should really be focusing more on technique than fitness. Doing adult length rounds for an hour in training is just inappropriate in my opinion.
I don't know enough about the medical conditions to really advise you there, I'd just recommend taking him to the local hospital.
At my gym the sometimes get some of us coaching the kids & it's very specific that you never work them in the same way you do teenagers and adults (& most of these kids are about 8-11), so I really think that at 6, he should not be doing what are effectively adult training sessions.

specific is not what i would say about the boxing club my son had trained in, after all the info you guys have gave me, it sounds like my sons gym is a shambles and could have some serious impact on other kids attending there, im glad i found this forum, will contact the coach on monday after the doctors appointment and tell him about all the info i have gathered off professional members on a forum, and i will post and let you all know what he (the coach) and the doctor have said and arranged, thank you all so much....
