Cotto Pacquiao Margo and even Mayweather(though he's the only one I'd really give a chance to dominate) really don't measure up to what the division had in the mid 90s to early 2000s... Prime Oscar, Mosley, Trinidad, Quartey and Vargas were a notch above for me.
Vargas never fought at welterweight
Yeah, I did actually know that... Just had to group him in there as he fought everyone else I mentioned at some point. Clottey is also huge for 147 and could easily fight at light middle, as Quartey did. He would get his ass whipped by any of those guys as well at either weight, all I was getting at .
Re: Joshua Clottey v Ike Quartey
I think any1 on here would say Clottey loses to just about every Welterweight ever, just based on lack of offense... except Zab Judah, right?
While I agree with you about Ike (whom I've only seen fight once), I also think he has better "luck" with opponents that do not mind taking rounds off, or that lose their cool after a while of not being able to hit him. He beat Cotto on my scorecard! So don't think for a second he couldn't beat a Quartey, Mayorga, Pepino Cuevas, Quintana, b/c of Pacquiao.
I would like to conclude with He's a b*tch for acting like a pu$$y in this last fight. Go out like a man on your face. I just can't understand why someone would take an opportunity for a fight like this and throw 400 punches.

Ike Quartey is better than Miguel Cotto, you need to watch more Ike Quartey fights. He had one of the best jabs of all time, he was very skillful and accurate. He punched pretty hard and was great at fighting at distance.
There's no way on earth Joshua Clottey would ever beat Ike Quartey, this a fighter who outskilled fighters like a prime ODLH, Vernon Forrest, Oba Carr, ETC.
The first Ike Quartey fight you should watch, is his demolition job on Vince Phillips. Thats Ike Quartey at his finest, then watch his fight vs Jung-Oh Park. See how much damage he does with just his jab alone.
Start off with those two fights then i'll recommend so more to you, really treat yourself because Ike Quartey is a joy to watch.
And Joshua Clottey would be put in his place being forced into a defensive shell trust me on this.
Joshua Clottey has always failed at the elite level, his mental game is pretty weak. He was winning the Carlos Baldomir fight but threw it away Andrew Golota style, he quit fighting against Antonio Margarito. Because of a bruised hand no fracture by the way, he stopped fighting against Miguel Cotto in the late rounds.
And let Miguel Cotto steal the fight. Not to mention his other ridiculous antic making a big deal over nothing, and finally the Manny Pacquiao fight need i say more.

Every WW ever?...No In fact IMO Clottey has the ability to beat many of the best over the last 10 years but his lack of Offense is his only real flaw...But it is not as if he does not have some great offense he just fails to use it for some crazy reason.....
With that being said Clottey fared better against Manny then his last 3 opponents did...It was speed and volume that kept him in his shell...Only a fool would open wide up and get pummeled...

Has the ability, as in the physical attributes he could potentially put to use? perhaps. Fact is he WOULDN'T beat any of the better WW's in history because for whatever reason he mentally doesn't want any of it. That's like saying Allen Iverson had the ability to beat anyone in boxing under light heavy, if he ever chose to learn how.
