Re: Quite surprising predictions on the RJJ Hopkins fights
Sounds odd here but the only way I can see Jones jr winning is if Hopkins allows it....you know, gets him hurt and pisses around, trys to 'punish' him...gets arrogant ( a stretch I know :-X) and plays too cute looking for perfect set up.He hurts him,he needs to end it right then and there! He has blown chances in past,a hurt and Imo a there to be tko'd Taylor in first fight comes to mind.Roy needs the ropes now,get him ring center and turn him into head shots, legs will follow.
Physically Jones is far past it,never really had the boxing 101 fundamentals to fall back on after reflex, legs and speed deminished.....but he is cagey smart,a true proven professional and heavily doubted....very bad combination.

-Joe Calzaghe, Unanimous decision over both Hopkins and Jones.
"I like both of them, but if I would have to bet I'd pick Roy because of his slickness and speed. Bernard is crafty but I think Roy is going to be sharper and quicker in this one. Roy in a decision."
- Winky Wright, Decision loss to Hopkins
"Jones has more speed and more power than Bernard. Jones by decision."
- Glen Johnson, Jones KO 9th Round
"Roy will outbox Hopkins and win eight rounds to four."
- James Toney, Decision loss to Jones
"Roy Jones will outbox Bernard. Roy in a decision."
- Buddy McGirt, Former World Champion
These predictions must have been from 2002.;D
Bingo.
Im still hopeing Roy wins though ,so do the majority of the crowd at the weigh in by the sounds of it.
I really think, he will end up farting around and get caught doing it, he cant help himself and he's too slow now to get out of trouble.

I think these guys must have been in a deep sleep for the last 5 years.
Well you have to figure..
One is on Cocaine...One has been around the sport 1 time in 3 years....Another one has been hoping Chad Dawson will return his calls for yet another title fight and oblivious to anything besides his part time announcing job for warriors boxing...The other one is barely able to form complete sentences and figures MMA will improve his dain bramage....The last one has had the most successful run of ruining a fighters momentum in boxing history

I think Glenn Johnson may be angling for a rematch of his own and the way he's been fighting I would favor him over Hopkins!

:cwm13: going back for a hall of famer the likes of Jones jr makes cents....going back for a Johnson although a hell of a nice guy and deserved of a biggie...is another thing altogether.
Hopkins may be long in the tooth but he is lightyears away from being Yusef Mack

It's true that Glenn 's tactics won't work on a seasoned vet like B-Hop who won't tire himself out or open himself up for big bombs, but the pressure Glenn piles on wouldn't be welcomed by B-Hop.
Glenn doesn't have many options left to fight neither does Hopkins, they'll both be on winning streaks and I think it would be a far more entertaining fight than this charade with RJJ

No one thought Green would do that.
But Jones got caught with a good punch and a quick stoppage too.
Sure as hell wasn't a clean KO. It was similiar to the Calzaghe vs. Manfredo stoppage, where Jones was covering up blockin everything but not throwing back.
Hopkins isn't going to fight Johnson. There is no money in it.
Jones is going to surprise a lot of people tonight.
He's not coming to lay down.

I don't think anyone ever thought Jones was coming to lay down...You can come to fight all you want but if the tools are not there they are not there....
If Jones does have the win hopefully he knows enough to run away with it and stay away
Re: Quite surprising predictions on the RJJ Hopkins fights
If Roy was wearing concrete slippers what chance would you give him, that's the chance I give him tonight, he's looked really bad lately, his last real win was against Lacy who had faded to C- status already when he fought him. B-Hop has shown he still has the athleticism and the caginess. If Jones wins this the fix is in and ODLH himself bet the lot on Jones.
Re: Quite surprising predictions on the RJJ Hopkins fights
Honestly...i think the main reason for these predictions is because most these guys don't personally like Hopkins all that much. The really sad thing for me is...if Hopkins wins via KO...it will in some way tarnish Roy's earlier win over him. I know Roy is completely shot now...but still...you don't want to get KOed by a guy you easily beat years ago with a broken hand. To see how Jones career has nose dived the way it has in the past few years is a really sad thing to witness. This is the same guy who in his prime was probably the most physically gifted boxer to ever live. But like almost ALL fighters...he has fought way past when he should have hung them up.
Re: Quite surprising predictions on the RJJ Hopkins fights
I think Hopkins will win but I'm just not too sure how effective he'll be if Jones fights off the ropes and counters him like he did to Lacey

Agreed. Hopkins can be arrogant and disrespectful, people want him to learn a bit of humilty. Not sure if Jones can do that now though. Fingers crossed.
