Yes but Floyd has been around the game long enough to know that he really is nowhere near the level of Robinson.
If Tommy Hearns was in his prime right now he'd destroy EVERYONE at 147 WITH EASE....Pac couldn't handle him, Shane couldn't handle him, and Floyd sure as hell couldn't handle him.
Let's put Floyd in perspective his biggest wins were Diego Corrales, Gennaro Hernandez, and Jose Luis Castillo....Floyd just recently got a MAJORITY decision vs a washed up De la Hoya.....if Floyd had trouble with OLD Oscar then you know damn well his ass would get destroyed by a PRIME Oscar!!!
I know Floyd is great and all but this type of bull shit make me happy that I will see Shane Mosley whip his ass on Saturday.
Although I hate to disagree with you Lyle, I think Floyd would take a prime Tommy Hearns. But one thing I will say is Tommy would bring out the best in Floyd for sure. I also think the Oscar result would have been the same a few years earlier. Oscar always slowed down on the final stretch and thats what cost him vs Mayweather. It wasn't like Floyd was fighting the version of Oscar that Pac was and don't forget it was at 154lbs which is not Floyds weight at all.
Oh yes and don't forget you will have your new user name decided by me after Floyd beats Shane :)

Every fighter has a confidence in themself and if he can draw into it while making people hate him at the same time and get more buyers to the PPV more power to him. His haters make more threads about him then his fans so and always about the same stuff or comment he makes, give it a rest, Mayweather's done this for the last 7 years its not new news.

Nah, let them do it - I'm sure Floyd loves it, uses it as even more fuel to psyche himself up. When he wins and makes more money from them, he's laughing all the way to the bank.
Then he lines up the next guy and does it all over again. Floyd has never got the credit he deserves and probably never will from some people because they have this love affair with the golden oldies.
It's called evolution folks...a prime Floyd would do just fine against the old guys apart from possibly Hearns because of his long arms and frequent use of the jab. Maybe not win against them all but would not guaranteed for them either.
You'll miss him when he's gone
Re: Mayweather makes Ali claim ahead of Mosley clash
Can I get a so what? Floyd has one opinion, everyone else has another. Fact is, you should appreciate he believes it. If he went around proclaiming other fighters as being better than him then that shows he feels he has limits. I appreciate the guy has that much confidence in himself. In 20 years someone is going to say he's better than Mayweather. And people will get all outraged over that too. Just appreciate the guy has belief in himself.
And don't you all realize Floyd says these things aloud because he knows it gets a reaction which equates into more $$$?
And I agree with whoever stated it above: I think Floyd could beat Hearns.

Blame the times for that. Not Mayweather. Robinson had to fight a lot cuz he spend more money than he made. Plus the money was different back than. You add up all the fights Robinson had in let say 5 years and he still don't come close to making what Mayweather made in the Hatton or De la Hoya fight alone. I have no doubt if Robinson made 20 million a fight there is no way in hell he fights as much as he did.
ALL fighters fought more back then...Why do you think so many past greats..had so many fights...Could not all be the fact they all blew their money...As far as money made 20million for a fight back then would be like 100 million in todays terms the statement about that makes zero sense...Those at the elite level who went broke due to their own spending habits the % is not much higher then today...There were no laws on how much promoters managers were entitled to then... Hell people did not even know until years after they were either dead or long long after they were broke did the public know about it....Also boxing was not as publicized as today...the only fighters who drew in huge crowds were world champions and top 10 fighters....
Robinson 200 career bouts
Basilio 79 bouts did not die broke
Armstrong 180 Became a minister donated money and life to underprivileged kids did not die in poverty
Archie Moore 220 Did not die broke..Was family man comfortable retirement
Many fights for these guys with 75+ records were early on and many were them not willing to retire....Not all were from money issues like Robinson..
More fighters go broke today

I agree with this assessment. Hearns was good but Mayweather is defensive greatness. I have no love for the man or his mouth and want him to get KOd but I can't see Hearns beating him. PBF sure wouldn't stop him but he'd pot shot the hell out of him even with Tommy's long ass arms.

Floyd Jr is not a WW version SRL...Get that straight...Leonard hit harder...Just as fast...SRL also could fight as the aggressor..He often did...Leonard did to top rated ATG opponents that Floyd did to Gatti...They are not even on the same level at WW.......Against Hearns Floyd would have to be the aggressor if he tried to lay and counter punch he would get murdered...
Re: Mayweather makes Ali claim ahead of Mosley clash
People forget how great Hearns was at Welterweight, it took a top 3 atg WW in Leonard to beat him, and it was a back and forth fight.
Mayweather is a great no question, just not a welterweight great, and imo he doesn't beat Hearns.
Re: Mayweather makes Ali claim ahead of Mosley clash
Floyd does not beat Hearns at fukkin all.

Tommy was only 21 and not in his prime when he lost to SRL , in his prime nobody below MW outboxes Tommy , Mayweather is a fantastic fighter ,but name anyone he has fought who comes near to Hearns in speed ability and power ,oh and SIZE .
For me Paul Williams ( who isnt as good as Tommy ) would beat Mayweather.

the same paul williams that was thoroughly outboxed by carlos quintana? Floyd would stay low and expose his low guard all night long...

VD's general point was - the old guys didn't make the money modern stars like Floyd do, hence they fought more.
If those guys could make $20m for one fight a year they wouldn't be having 10. It's common sense.

That's exactly it. I'm surprised the comment went over his head
Re: Mayweather makes Ali claim ahead of Mosley clash
You know what really makes no sense...If you are rich beyond what you could possibly spend logically and you keep on fighting when does it come the time you are no longer fighting for money?...When do you start fighting for legacy? I find it hard to believe Floyd does not care about legacy?
