Re: Scharfer wants to make Khan Katsidis in July
Katsidis would be a tough fight for Khan. I don't think having to move up weight would make a difference either as he's a big guy.
That being said, Khan would be better off fighting someone like Maidana who is part of the same division.
I personally think Kats is better than Maidana but Kats having to move up will take some credit of Khan's win where Maidana is natural at the weight and he has alot of hype surrounding him just now.
Re: Scharfer wants to make Khan Katsidis in July
Khan V Katsidis would be enormous financial value for both fighters. Katsidis is known in England and has probably built a following there himself. I also believe Khan has more to lose than the little K man if this fight takes place. My bet is it won't!
Re: Scharfer wants to make Khan Katsidis in July
Katsidis would want a ton of dough to srop his WBO interim slot and move up in weight to fight a bigger faster guy. If it's going to be in England in July much easier to make the Prescott fight, it would sell out an arena and Khan Promotions would only have to pay him buttons compared to a Katsidis purse. The telly would want it too.
Re: Scharfer wants to make Khan Katsidis in July
I like Kats a lot, but with his inability to deal with quick jabs and his short arms, I give him next to no shot. Can't blame Khan's handlers for doing this, it would be another good name on his resume.

Apart from the hardcore Khan critics on this forum who insist he must avenge this loss I really think most would rather see Khan take on Katsidis.
It's a great fight, Katsidis is 2-0 against British fighters and has already twice fought on HBO. He's a big name and the average fightfan would much rather see Khan vs Kats I imagine.
I actually think Katsidis will be back in the UK soon regardless. If he doesn't fight Amir then John Murray must be an attractive opportunity.
I reckon Kats probably makes more far money fighting overseas than he does in Towoomba which is why he is is always fighting either over her or in the US.
I can see him fighting Khan or Murray before the year is out.
Re: Scharfer wants to make Khan Katsidis in July
Khan will show some real balls if he takes this fight. Katsidis has no quit in him and he stalks HARD! It will be an interesting fight. It will be either the end or coming out party for Khan's career IMO.
Re: Scharfer wants to make Khan Katsidis in July
I can see Katisidis doing his best Captain Kirk impersonation right now, waking in the middle of the night screaming KHAAAAAAAAAAN
Re: Scharfer wants to make Khan Katsidis in July
kinda fight that could go either way. could be a barn burner, could be a bore fest with khan just smacking him around, cutting him up..?

Exactly. Almost nobody, myself included, gives a shit about Khan fighting Prescott. Khan has improved dramatically, while Prescotts has been exposed. I doubt Khan would have any trouble with him at this point. He'd probably knock him out by the halfway point of the fight.
Re: Scharfer wants to make Khan Katsidis in July
A fighter should always try to avenge his losses though, people respect Lewis more for doing that. Prescott has shown himself to be a very limited fighter since, but he still holds that trump card. I think a Katsidis fight would be quite fun too and if it's to happen as soon as July then it's all good.

The thing is it was worth Lewis avenging his losses because they meant something.
Rahman had his world title belts and so obviously he wanted them back, and the rematch with McCall was for another vacant world title. Thus both fighters were at the very top of the heavyweight division.
Prescott has since been exposed twice by at best gatekeepers, and as such didn't make it to the top of the lightweight pile.
Khan has rebounded however and is now in the premiership, whilst Prescott is in the lower leagues.
It makes no sense to move down in opposition level when there are so many more exciting and challenging fights available to him.
I (and the rest of the non Khan hating boxing world) want him to face the real big guns, Katsidis, Maidana, Alexander, Bradely, J M Marquez.
Prescott is a step down and therefore not worth rematching.
Look at Wladimr. He rematched Lamon Brewster because Brewster won his world title belt and then defended it 3 times, i.e he reached the top.
But the Corrie Sanders loss was never avanged because Sanders didn't get to the top afterwards and there would have been no point.

That's true. Good points.
There would be no harm in a Prescott rematch though, I mean it's a step above the likes of Salita and Fagan and it does have some kind of meaning. If there is no one else on such short notice then I think it would be a decent matchup and a chance to put the demons to rest so to speak. But on the whole it would be good to see Khan step up and fight some bigger names. All the guys you listed are good, but to get them on such short notice and possibly in the UK? Maybe more likely down the road.

It would annoy me if Amir took a really poor opponent when Prescott would be better. But if, as he says he plans to, he fights one of the guys above or alongside him in the rankings I would much rather that.
I'd like to see him fight John Murray more than Prescott.
It's a shame Kev lost as that would have been a great matchup too. But hopefully he can bounce back like Amir did and get back in the mix.
The biggest problem with Prescott for me is that aside from the Khan win he has looked not only mediocre, but really really dull as well. He's not an interesting or exciting fighter to watch and if they did rematch I don't see it being a particularly entertaining fight.
I think Amir just gets behind his jab and stays on his bike, boxing to a decision.
And in a weird way, it would answer no questions about his chin at all. The only question answered would be can Amir run away for 12 rounds and not get hit against a much much slower opponent. Do we care...really?
Do you think Wladimir answered the questions about his chin in beating Brewster easily in a rematch? Nope not one bit, he just made sure he never got close to being hit :)

Thats a sig bet I would take. :)
My bet is Khan's people will want nothing to do with Katsidis.
I may even enter a sig bet on Katsidis ko'g Khan.
Ok, if I win you are Fester for a month and I'll be Mortica.
If you win I'll be Mortica and you can be Fester.

Boxing safe and winning a decision won't answer questions about Khan's chin, but it's only natural to want to avenge a defeat, especially if you think it was a freak result. If someone beats me at something the first thing I want to do is to try again and get it right next time out. Prescott has dug himself into a hole with his recent showings and yes, he doesn't look particularly good, but to get redemption you have to get back in there with the man that beat you. That's one of the things I love about Mosley, he put it all on the line to fight Wright and Forrest again. He didn't need to do that and failed both times, but it's the fact that he was willing to do it that I admire. Khan/Prescott 2 has less significance now, but it has more significance than any of Khans other fights except for Malignaggi (I still refuse to class the Barrera fight as a win).
