Seriously, i like Hatton and he's been great for Boxing. His performance against Tszyu was great. Hatton had an effective style and decent skills. He struggled with speed and combinations and that's the one thing that stopped him from being elite. He'd struggle at 140 against Bradley, Alexander and Khan, and none of the others are worth coming back for. He should enjoy himself now. He's done so much more than he could have imagined possible, and he's set for life. He's nothing left to prove, and in any case 10 stone would most likely be a pipedream. That leaves him at 147, which is probably tougher than 140. He's the reason i joined the forum and for that i am grateful. He's given me many happy memories, and i doubt i'll ever feel as nervous about watching a fighter ever again.
some great sentiments there mate
Pains me to think of the situation nowadays,
had hatton-khan of happened with both in their prime khan would of eat leather all night and probably been stopped inside 5-6 rounds
Id like ricky to have one more just so the fans can get to say their goodbyes. Not an elite level fighter but just someone who can bang and make ricky look good at doing what he does best (katsidis springs to mind)
I disagree with that. I see Hatton struggling big time no matter what shape he's in. I don't think he's that different from what he was in his prime. He's just been in with speed and he's struggled. He's never been hard to hit and it's a myth that he once had a great chin. He just wasted a lot of time fighting guys who were beneath him talent wise, so on the odd occasion where he was hurt (Magee, Phillips etc) the guys were either not good enough, or too long in the tooth to really finish him off.
Don't get me wrong, he could rattle Khan early because Khan is and probably always will be vulnerable, but i think it's more likely that Khan's speed and combinations have Hatton in a lot of trouble.
That's just my opinion and i can totally see the argument for Hatton ko'ing Khan.
Re: havent had a hatton chat on here for a while
I thought this thread was going to be about some competitive eating competition between him, Naz and Vargas. Since it's just a historical debate, I'll just let myself out.................
Re: havent had a hatton chat on here for a while
I think Hatton is done. He's never been out for this long before and it seems that he has let himself go a fair bit. The Pac fight appears to have knocked him for six, he won't bounce back from it now. The "I'm coming back" and then the silence and apparent lack of comeback makes me realise that he just doesn't have it anymore. If you haven't got the mental self belief then you've lost already.
He had a good career, just a shame about the end. But that's boxing.

You lost me at "Hatton is god", but I'll answer your questions anyway.
1. Not in my opinion. Hatton was a very good 140-pounder at his peak. No more, no less.
2. I'll answer your question with another question. What would have happened had another ref been in the ring with Hatton and Tszyu? You know... one who understood this was a boxing match and not a WWF match.
3. Not if he values his health and the peace of mind of his family members.
I'm not a Hatton hater, but I think justice was served when he ridiculously claimed to be fighting for the world's p4p against Pacquiao, and summarily got his circuit breaker flicked off in the 2nd round.
;)
Re: havent had a hatton chat on here for a while
hatton was an above average brawler with a huge fan base never anything more.
Re: havent had a hatton chat on here for a while
Fight Malignaggi again and then JMM...Retire
Re: havent had a hatton chat on here for a while
I love how people can complain about Cortez and not about Dave Parris. Cortez stopped Hatton from holding and all of a sudden hes a crook? Isnt it obvious that Cortez had watched Hatton fight before and noticed the holding and decided he wasnt going to allow it...why? Coz clinching is actually illegal in boxing hence why you can get point deductions for too much clinching. Then letting that blatant low blow slide when the the rules state a mandatory point deduction or a DQ at the refs discretion yet he did nothing. Yeah I know your all going to say "Jeez Snakey get over it"...im way over it except when people complain about Cortez, Karmas a bitch and that night Hatton got raped by it.

Ok this is really old ground but hey why not.
1. Dont know why ya mention Dave Parris in the same sentance as Cortez, Micky Vann maybe
As far as illegal blows go KT done it first, not once but twice, Ricky simply gave it back ;)
Watched him play footie last night at Old Trafford for SoccerAid, nice penalty, he finished it well, mind you Joe Calzaghe actually scored from open play !!

And what about the endless low blows kostya was nailing ricky with. Parris didnt exactly come raining down on tszyu like this biased ref your painting him out to be.
Hatton beat tszyu fair and square, floyd beat hatton with cortezs assistance. As i keep pointing out yes i still believe the outcome would of been similar and floyd would of still won but who knows

HAHA man ive been over this soooo many times before it isnt funny but someone in a different thread actually managed to get a screen shot of KTs so called "low blows" that he hit Ricky with and it clearly shows him hitting the top of his trucks which would be where his stomach was. Its a poor excuse considering that if you watch it in slow motion you clearly see that they dont hit him in the nuts unless his nuts are in his belly button. Even if that were the case they were accidental (you cant call Kostya a dirty fighter, he was classy in and out of the ring), Hattons was intentional and alot harder as he actually winded the shot up.
Re: havent had a hatton chat on here for a while
My head says Ricky should quit now, but my heart says he deserves a massive Manchester send off.
I just hope its not against Khan, as I couldn't handle my one of my all time favourites being beaten by one of my all time most hated.

LOL I know it's very old ground, but hey WTF  Dave Parris gave Ricky the chance to get himself together after being hit low not once but twice. Regardless what we as spectators may think, the ref deemed them as low blows, therefor Hatton deliberately went for KT's nuts :D

Good shout bud. It would certainly settle the score and finally dispell the myth of 'Hometown Boy' which many labelled Hatton with ;D
Re: havent had a hatton chat on here for a while
Hatton was allright, good fighter, brought something different and exciting to the sport and shit, no matter if you agree with the guy or not it's nice seeing someone stay loyal to thier guy and not jumping ship every two or three months.
