Pacquiao's best option if no PBF fight?

Sadly, there's really not much out there. Mosely would've been great, but he's already been destroyed by PBF, so Pac really doesn't have the risk to reward ratio in his favor. In other words, if he beats him he doesn't get much credit, but if he loses its now a tremendous loss. Mosely needs to reestablish himself before its worthwhile for Pac to fight him.

Ditto for Williams, which would be the bravest fight, becasue of Paul's Hearns-like advatages. But if you fight tommy hearns at welter you want credit for beating tommy hearns. In other words when SRL met him Hearns was considered unbeatable. But WIlliams is coming off 2 iffy fights. He needs another impressive vicory b/f its worth the risk for Pacman.

Cotto is pointless. There's no gain in his reputation for beating someone he already destroyed.

That leaves JMM and Bradlley. JMM is unfinished business, so that makes sense, though its risky if this is his Ken Norton. Pac doesn't want to loses ahead of a possible PBF showdown in '11.

I would suggest some tune-up and have JMM face Bradley. Whoever wins then gets Pac, and they win convincingly, it could be a big fight.

But I suspect he'll fight Margarito in Mexico. The money good and Margarito but is not the hardhittng puncher he once was, so its just a high-level tuneup. Pac will plaster Margarito and hopefuly by then one of the others will have had an impressive outing that would make for a wothwhile fight.

Personally I think Margarito would be a mistake. There is just not as much people stock behind Margarito as Arum wants to believe. And just to mention Margarito is still banned. It's a slap in the face to the sport to circumvent the rulings.

The thing about Cotto that will drum up interest is the wonder if Cotto is any better with not have to drain himself to make weight.

Forget about Mosley.

Bradley could be a match but I would rather see Pacquiao in there with Berto.

Obviously it will do a little, but he's already accomplished so much and beaten so many great fighters that only a fight with Mayweather or another truly elite P4P fighter (like Paul Williams or a Sergio Martinez) will enhance it further.

No matter what, Pacquiao, unless his reputation is legitimately tarnished, will go down as one of the greatest fighters of all time.

Sergio Martinez at weight in is at least 159 lbs in his last 2 fights so that eliminates him (or Pac will be accused of weight draining him). Imagine what he would have weighted on fight night.

Paul Williams is more of a Middleweight and should stay in that division. I don't think it's fair for Manny to go up one division to face someone who will try to drain himself down one division. He bloated to 163 lbs in his fight against Cintron.

Manny Pacquiao is very good but let us acknowledge the limitations. He isn't Superman. I remember reading an item from a sports writer saying that Pacquio 'bit more than he can chew' when he went up another weight division and this was way back when he fought David Diaz.

I'm not interested in seeing Pacquiao "thrown to the lions", but if he wants to really be able to call himself an 8 weight champion with any legitimacy, he would fight a Williams or a Martinez and not a mediocre, possibly shot (I don't care what some people say, Margarito looked like ass in his last fight), convicted cheater who has been a welterweight for the last half-decade.

While beating Margarito will be an impressive feat based on size alone, he's a less legitimate "champion" than David Diaz and beating him will do little for Pacquaio's already sterling legacy.

Actually, very true. Margarito isn't even a top ten welterweight at this point.

Unquestionably I pick Mosley... If Mayweather won't fight Pac, then Pac should just fight every single one of PBF's opponents, and beat them more convincingly....

4. Paul Williams - Does he currently have a belt @154? very low reward if he doesnt have a belt and isnt considered the lineal champion.
