Re: Green v Briggs. Expected fireworks didn't get a spark
How does the fight get made? I cant think Briggs passed a medical exam, watching that. If Green really was his friend outside the ring, how did he not know about this? Shame on the matchmaker and commission. For you bilbo, "Another black eye for boxing" :fight: I know you love that saying.

It doesn't add up
Maybe they've gone for a reverse headfuck, by making it so unbelievable they actually manage to pull off the fix. We're like "If that was a fix, surely they'd make it more believable" and Green is like  haha motherfuckers.
Or maybe there is something wrong with Briggs. If there is, i hope he's ok.

Actually I can't ever recall using that sentence? I usually put things more eloquently like 'this was a fucking fix man', or 'The Ring are a bunch of fucking cunts'.....

Nerve disorder...are we talking mental or physical? Coz he passed all medicals. I have never heard that story and im surprised if it is such common knowledge why it hasnt turned up in the press in the build up to the fight or after it.
It's widely known and recognized by everyone. Briggs openly talked about it and his retirement was not contested when he announced it years ago. I for one thought Briggs would make a good comeback. He's more cagey than he is elusive, though. I just don't know how Adamek has made it this far thinking about those two fights they had.
Green has "true" Glancing power. I'm pretty sure at this rate he is going to set a record for the most 1round stoppages that leave you scratching your head.
Re: Green v Briggs. Expected fireworks didn't get a spark
Closest thing to wwe i've seen in a long time. Green was mad, but probably just because after practicing that crap over and over before time, briggs's retarded ass still screwed it up.

Paul Briggs back in action | The Daily Telegraph
WORLD-ranked Australian boxer Paul Briggs is eyeing a world title fight next year after overcoming a traumatic health scare which he thought had ended his career.
Briggs, who lost two memorable WBC light heavyweight title fights to Poland's Tomasz Adamek on majority points decision, yesterday resumed boxing sessions for the first time in two months.
The Sydney-based 32-year-old, who hasn't fought since February, today revealed the ordeal he went through when experiencing worrying symptoms throughout this year.
Briggs said all but one of the symptoms resembled a brain tumor and the emotional turmoil while trying to diagnose his problem had also imposed a lot of stress on his family....

Yeah I had heard that he had this medical issue but thought it must of been just rumour when no medicals found it. Obviously its not as apparently there is some things coming out now that Briggs was showing signs of not being well in training.
This is just a fucking shame, I have so much respect for briggs. Everything he has done in his life, everything he has over come to get where he is today. FUCK YOU DANNY GREEN!!!! I was hoping for a completely fit Paul Briggs to walk in there and destroy him but that was me being naive. 4 yrs ago Briggs would of taken Danny out in one round, he challenged Green back then but Green didnt have the balls.
Re: Green v Briggs. Expected fireworks didn't get a spark
Rumours are hitting some aussie boxing forums...apparently info is being leaked from the Briggs camp and they are saying that the signs were there in training. Apparently Briggs had complained of blurred vision :o and was showing extremely low resistance to punches....if this is true thats fucked up!!! I hate Danny Green for dangling 200 000 infront of Paul, he is an absolute cunt!!!

Yep, in rehearsal it went, Paul slips the first jab, the second grazes the top of his head, then Green throws a big left hook that sends Briggs to the canvas.... Unfortunately even with 1000 rehearsals, he forgot about the left hook and went down from the head graze...
I'd be pissed if someone screwed that up as well!

Not only that but AFTER the fight Green got on the mic saying that his son has bigger balls then Briggs and he isn't getting paid a cent and he was gonna fight him in the locker room for a fight the fans enjoyed.
If thats true and Green already knew of Briggs condition AND they were supposed to be friends, it just gives more of a reason to have disdain for Green.

I've already posted a few posts up what's wrong with Briggs. There's a link with the full story. He has a nervous system and adrenal system problem that hasn't been treated. He collapsed in sparring and he's also collapsed numerous times outside of the gym. He shouldn't have been anywhere near the ring. The condition gives him major balance problems. It's a terrible thing to cope with, and Green is a grade A twat for his post fight comments.

Yeah, if that bit of connection to the top of his head caused him so much discomfort, you would HAVE to assume that the signs were there in sparring, and someone should not have let him in the ring... Sure in the doctors room, he was given a clean bill of health. But did the doctor actually throw a jab at him or anything? Clearly he was not ready to have any physical pressure to be put onto his body, and just that one punch took everything out of him to the point he couldn't stand...
Green would have HAD to know that Briggs was not in top shape, and he played a part in choosing an opponent which would be an easy fight for him... So it does make him quite twattish to flip out at him after the fight when clearly he made the decision to get in with him knowing he was not 100% up for it...
Real shame.. Boxing in Australia only gets that many eyes on it 4 or 5 times a year... And the 2 biggest times with Green vs Briggs, and Green vs Jones have ended in very disappointing circumstances...... It's a really tough sell for getting kids here into the sport...
I think most of our local hero's into the future will be imported from other countries and adopted as our own..
Re: Green v Briggs. Expected fireworks didn't get a spark
This is doing the circuit on the internet:
"SO SEVERE were Paul Briggs's neurological problems in the weeks leading up to his fight against Danny Green that he was forgetting at which gymnasium he was training and mistaking strangers' cars for his own. His conditioning was so poor that he took one body shot in sparring and vomited.
Briggs's woeful 29-second performance on Wednesday night was not of a man taking a dive, but one who was so desperate for his $200,000 purse he was willing to risk his life in the ring. Briggs, his people, and much of boxing's circle knew the reality of the situation. This was going to be a farce."

Sad, but true. Briggs was overweight and in poor condition. It is a shame that Paul Briggs will now be remembered for this fight and not his two epic encounters with Thomas Adamek, he lost two close decisions that if they had of gone his way, very few would have argued. What was Green thinking in fighting a guy with known medical issues, inactive for over 3 years and in no shape to compete at the highest level? Danny Green and his people need to have a good look at themselves and fight a genuine top 10 fighter next up. Calling out Mundine who is old, washed up and fighting at 154lb is no way to regain lost credibility.
