You can give the fighter of the decade to the guy who dominated nearly the full decade, or you can give it to the great fighter who was in the twilight of his career, lost to a guy who he shouldn't have lost to in a million years, and finally realized he was way passed his prime and it was time to retire 3 years into the decade.
Yes he beat Vitali, but a cut victory over a guy who came in on 2 weeks notice is hardly something to base a "HW of the decade award on".
Its like saying Joe Louis was the HW of the 50's.
I don't think Wlad is being underrated, it's just a very weak era, and unfortunately he is the only alternative to Lewis.
Re: Ring Magazine fighters of the decade..
saw the jmm/chris john fight and not only was the judges, ref, and scoring, jokes, jmm won that fight going away. how many anyone in their right mind actually think john deserved that decision is beyond me. john ran the whole fight and the only one who made the fight was jmm. this decision was an absolute disgrace for boxing and robbed one of the truly great champions of a victory.
Re: Ring Magazine fighters of the decade..
Tarver at LH is pretty much bull$hit. He lost to Roy the first time, lost every round to B-hop, lost to Johnson, lost twice to Chad Dawson...
Yes he KO'd Roy Jones.
That was ONE FIGHT.

I'd have JMM at Cruiserweight not Haye. I believe his stand as a Cruiser is more then what Haye did...
I threw up in my mouth when I realized PongsaShit made the list... :-X
