He is a moron?? Why is he a moron? This is the same guy who has fought Froch in his backyard Adrian Diaconunu twice and Chad Dawson in his last 5 fights Bute is the one to blame he is happy fighting bums of the week in his backyard.
Re: Looks like Pascal v Hopkins is on 18th December
This fight is in Canada. There is no way Pascal is losing this fight. No doubt there will be a fortnight of Hopkins ranting on about a ''robbery'' either way.
Hopkins has got balls but he is gonna make this one ugly fight, as usual.
Re: Looks like Pascal v Hopkins is on 18th December
I can see the reasoning in taking the fight. Nice earner against a faded Bhop who still a good profile.
After a big win against someone like Chad Dawson most fighters would have gone for a nice easy defence rather than an awkward customer like Hopkins.
I tip my hat to Pascal and also think he will win.
Re: Looks like Pascal v Hopkins is on 18th December
Yep, I just read the news and wanted to come and share it.
The French-language Canadian radio station CKAC sport just had and interview with Yvon Michel and it seem almost official.

He might have made more money fighting Bute in the short term, but I think this could turn out to be a wise business decision on Pascal's part.
Hopkins is less of a threat than Bute and is much more well known in the United States and throughout the boxing world. If Pascal can beat him, his stock will rise exponentially; regardless of age, he'll be the first guy to beat Hopkins since his renaissance. However, if he fought Bute and won, people would call Bute untested and would bring up the ghosts of the first Andrade fight to prove this; if he lost it would be even worse. Bute would benefit more from fighting Pascal than Pascal would for fighting him, and I think I can understand their logic behind fighting what appears to be a quickly fading Hopkins. It's eschewing short-term gain for long-term investment.

I just don't know how Dax can call Pascal for this when Bute is fighting Jesse Brinkley :vd:
Pascal resume is about 500 times stronger than Butes will probably ever be. After fighting Daswon this is a great fight for Pascal like you say give him some nice exposure, let Bute carry on fighting gimps.

I think Bute is a much better fighter than Pascal and I think he'll prove so in the long run, but it just makes more sense for Pascal to fight Hopkins. I'm not even sure if Pascal - Bute would be that much bigger than Pascal - Hopkins anywhere in Canada outside of Montreal. Here in B.C. I would be extremely hard-pressed to find anyone who knows who either guy is. Boxing is essentially dead in this country outside of Montreal and there's just very little interest in the sport outside of isolated areas.
Regarding Bute, I think his career has really been badly effected by the Super 6, the controversial first Andrade fight, and his contract with HBO. I don't know how feasible it would have been business-wise, but I really think he would have been a part of the Super 6 had he not had to rematch Andrade. Hopefully with Kessler and Green dropping out, he'll be able to land a big-ish fight after he pummels Brinkley, but he's not getting any younger. It's too bad, because I feel he's arguably the second best SMW on the planet and he just hasn't had the opportunity to prove it. I see him beating almost everyone in the Super 6 and I could even seen him beating Ward (though I would heavily favor Ward).
Re: Looks like Pascal v Hopkins is on 18th December
Allan Green is dropping out? Is this confirmed?

Oh I would have bute if i had to pick but how the fuck can Dax blame Pascal the man who has faced tough opponent after opponent while Bute has fought fucking no one and next is fighting Jesse Brinkley who was beat by an 80 year old Robin Reid this was about 4 years ago.

As far as who is better opinions vary and I guess my Avatar speaks for who I would back BUT if you read my post correct and did not jump on the who is better issue so quickly you would see that my point was financial AND of worth in the eyes of boxing fans....They are the 2 biggest Canadian fighters going right now perhaps in the last 2 decades.....They are also considered the 2 best in each of thier perspective divisions....
It would be a great fight no matter who won but it would be a big fight in terms of Quality, in terms of money to be made and in terms of what the fans want....A win win win all around
How ,any of those are in boxing right now :-\
As for the Brinkley fight we all know why that is taking place so lets not pretend Bute is cherry picking
Re: Looks like Pascal v Hopkins is on 18th December
I don't mind this fight actually. I never tire of seeing Hopkins lose close, ugly and tedious decisions. Pascal will try and outwork Hopkins like Calzaghe and get mugged somewhat along the way. Won't be a fun fight, but maybe the end of Hopkins and a chance to put to rest that silly talk about going up to HW.

You know, what... Now you say that. If Clazaghe ever made a come back... Pascal would be the man to fight.
I mean, what a fun fight that would be!
