Listen to when he goes back to the corner, he asks Adam Booth "what shot was it"
I clearly remember that from the night.

I never realised this was a point of contention. Definitely a slip... those stupid adverts!
How many times has a fighter slipped in the middle of the ring on those big ol adverts only to have more adverts round the fucking edge too!!
But seriously, Haye slipped, got tagged in a real situation and just took a simple knee.
He may or may not of immediately recalled exactly what had happened but its of no consequence ;)
Has anyone ever missed with an overhand right against Haye?
Legit knockdown in the legal sense, sure he slipped, but no protest from him, so................
We all know Haye is chinny. That is not the question really that we need an answer to. IMO the draining of his body he was doing going into CW fights was ridiculous. At the start of his training camps he weighs around 230lbs, so making 200lbs is losing 30lbs and he is never fat so it is taking a lot out of anyones body to make that kind of weight.
I remember Evander being rocked plenty and struggling like hell in his first fight with Qawi at CW, but when he moved upto HW and stopped having to make weight his chin and even more so his ability recover seemed to improve, this could be the same for Haye, we will have to see. The supposed KD to Barrett CANNOT be counted, whether or not a punch was landed (Hayes head never moved with the shot if you watch carefully and both his feet are sliding forward) he certainly was not hurt and if something did land it was due to his lack of balance that he ended up on the floor.
I don't think for one minute he has a great chin but one thing he has shown is he can get hurt, recover and KO an opponent. That is a decent thing to have. EVERYONE goes down and everyone gets hurt, it's how you react to it that counts and Hayes one defeat taught him a hell of a lot IMO. He put all his eggs in one basket vs Thompson and gassed himself then when he got hurt he had nothing left to recover with, he has not made the same mistake since and his defence is getting much better too. Mormeck is a great example of the fact that Haye is not afraid to take a knee if need be whereas some fighters will stand through a bombardment rather than take a knee and get seriously hurt.
Anyway apparently he is looking awesome in training and has been knocking the fuck out of Tony Thompson in sparring. That's what I like to hear, can't wait to see Audley unconcious now ;D
I know. It was Skel's thread that made me think of it.
I actually think he just felt his legs go at the same time a punch brushed him. Obviously without realising he had stepped on an advertising board he could have assumed he was hurt. Mormeck saw the reaction and jumped on him. Has me wondering if Haye just went down to gather his sense. Sounds odd typing it, but things happen fast in the ring. Like you say, it matters little. We all know he'll go over if either Klit tags him. ;D
ive seen it plenty of times, ok it could be judged as a knockdown, a little harsh but it could
the thing is we are talking about people hurting haye in this thread and whether or not it was a knockdown he wasnt hurt on that occasion
yes he has been hurt before but not then
How is it harsh judging it as a knockdown? He clearly gets knocked down it doesn't matter if he was hurt or not, the fact is he went down, and I dont care what the thread is about you were the first to go off course with..
"barrett never put him down tho"
But he clearly did as shown in the other thread.
remember only finding out about this fight a week before it happened and being amazed that it literally got no airtime in the UK
mormeck dominated early doors, the knockdown was harsh on haye due to getting tangled in the ropes but it still had to be counted as a genuine knockdown. Hayes comeback was immense. He went into that round with a clear plan in mind and it worked to perfection
haye was on his way down barrett caught him and he sat down barrett then hit him whilst down
as i remember it (i could be wrong) it wasnt ruled as a knockdown, the ref didnt count he took a point from barrett
i would happily accept it to this discussion tho if haye had of been hurt because thats what the discussion is about
