Re: Has Pac improved since the JMM bouts?
floyd would fight going backwards for 6 rounds and let manny walk on to shots especially the straight right lead. From round 7 onwards he'd then up his work rate and start landing the big shots and go on to win by a wide UD. He does it in most fights and I don't see a fight with pacquiao being any different.

Because Manny Pacquiao is special, and Floyd Mayweather Jr hasn't fought anyone as good as Manny Pacquiao. Same goes for Manny Pacquiao, well actually scratch that JMM is special at below Lightweight.
And because the only fighters they can lose to at the moment, is eachother which is why its so intriguing. Shame it won't happen though.

I don't think so. You see I would not be shocked one little bit if floyd domintated pacquiao from abut round 4 onwards. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. too many times I thought 'this'll be the fight where Floyd slips up', and he ends up doing a demolition job.
i'm at the point now where I don't care what happens. I'm that convinced Pac would get schooled. Even with Mayweather's time out of the ring, the fact hes getting older and the fact he has been les mobile in his last few fights.
But as I've said in a previous thread pac would have the best chance of beating Floyd, mainly cuz Floyd could be coming off his peak now.

Coming up with the excuses already even before they start their third negotiation?
Both of them have their own greatness and flaws, so if they do fight, a lot of credit (with no excuses) should go to the victor.
Re: Has Pac improved since the JMM bouts?
The excuses for both fighters will be out there if 1 of them loses, that is a guarantee.
If Pac loses it's because he was worn down from fighting all those bigger guys and that Mayweather was bigger than him.
If Floyd loses, it's because he was so inactive, less mobile and he was going downhill (see hornfinger's post)

That's why I put 'should' in my post. That's just wishful thinking on my part.

I honestly think at 140 or above Pac would be a LOT more difficult for JMM to match up with.
But completely putting the weight issues aside, do you think he has improved enough to be more competitive (or dominant) against JMM? Obviously confidence would play a part as well, which is sky high for Pac right right now..
But skill wise is the real question...
And on the other side, how do you think JMM has progressed since those fights?
Everyone is talking about a JMM fight making the most sense if you overlook the weight differences, but no one has really talked about whether the fighters are still matched so evenly ability wise.
and fine yes, for the people already thinking it,,, I concede I am slightly sucking Pac's nuts by creating another thread about him in an already abundant first page of Pac threads... This is my first and last I promise, and it's a topic i've yet to see discussed..
Dont want to take credit away from JMM but pac reach his prime above the lightweight division. Everybody seem to forget that each time pac fought JMM, he was already suppose to go up in weight. In their last fight, pac granted the fight with JMM before going up in weight.
Besides Morales, JMM had troubled Pac more then anyone in the featherweight division. Most people wouldn't even believe Pac could be successful above the featherweight division back then, but he has hardly lost a round since going above featherweight. Not having to rehydrate and being able to keep his speed and stamina have allowed Pac to renew his arsenal. Attacking from different angles rather then the old Pac who just attacked with speed and power.
In the future, would people consider pac at his greatest below or above lightweight? Some one should make a poll above that.
Re: Has Pac improved since the JMM bouts?
I find it hard to believe that anyone would even have to ask the question. Roach is the first one to say Pacquiao is a completely different fighter since fighting Diaz. He studies film, forms a strategy and works on that game plan in the gym. Before his fight with Diaz he just trained harder to be in better condition. JMM will get destoryed by Pacquiao if they fought today even at 135. JMM can't handle boxers that stay on the outside. Chris John and Floyd Mayweather are perfect examples. Pacquiao no longer just goes into a fight banging away as he did in his last fight with JMM. His new style has prolonged his career. The in and out boxing he now does will frustrate the hell out JMM. If they do meet again and Pacquiao beats the crap out of JMM, people that want Pacquiao to lose, will just say JMM got old. Not that JMM is not old, its just what they will say.
Re: Has Pac improved since the JMM bouts?
yes of course pac has improved , but lets remember one thing , styles make fights.
MAYWEATHER HAS STRUGGLED TO LOOK GOOD AGAINST FIGHTERS PAC WOULD BEAT EASIER , AND MAYWEATHER EASILY BEAT JMM.
Re: Has Pac improved since the JMM bouts?
I too believe that JMM won the 2nd fight. I was surprised with the decision as next guy. I also believe that JMM was at his peak when they fought and Pacquiao was still improving, JMM at his peak is a monster skill wise. But I don't think JMM will win over Pacquiao now. Pacquiao has a lot more skill now added to his speed and power. However, Pacquiao will not accept this fight, there is no gain for him. If he losses, then people say redemption, if he wins, people say JMM got old. No WIN scenario there!

The thing is, when Pacquiao moved up in weight, everybody made up scenarios on how Pacquiao's opponents will fight against him, everybody seems to know what will happen. Because PACQIAOS BOXING SKILLS WAS SERIOUSLY UNDERRATED. Dela Hoya was too intelligent, Cotto is too big and can box, Margarito will smother him etc etc. But all of those guys reacted the same way, they fought less and ate punches.
By bringing up that scenario, you are underrating Manny's boxing skills once again. You can make excuses all you want on how his opponents were weight drained etc. But the fact remains that fighting against Manny changes his opponents strategy in the ring because of how irritatingly fast he is.
Manny is as good as Floyd when it comes to imposing his own tempo inside the ring. I'd give it a 50/50 not a shut out. Manny deserves more respect than that having humiliated thousands of "BOXING EXPERTS" in their analysis.

Yes I'm coming up with excuses and thats why I think floyd will outbox pacquiao and make hime look like just another Floyd Mayweather opponant.
The selective reading powers of the Pac Fan are amusing to say the least.
Re: Has Pac improved since the JMM bouts?
Pac has clearly improved However, I think the improvement is more down to Pac being allowed to fill into a more natural weight. He's coming into these fights with an optimum level of strength and is therefore able to apply himself better. There is less of the boiling down which probably sapped him somewhat towards the end of his spell at the lower weights. Pac is a natural JWW now and I doubt he could make 135 again without looking like a corpse.

In that case, and by that logic then...
It's a shame that none of pacs opponants have been at optimum strength level do to all the catch weights. ;)

Catchweights are a crock of shit. I agree, there is no need for them.
That's one thing that's pissing me off about tomorrows fight. Both guys want to fight for a MW title, then just stick to the weights which are already defined and are effective.
