Re: Mosley 90% the Pacman fight will happen.
to be honest if Mayweather didn't exist I probably wouldn't have a problem with this.
But as long as he's around and the fight ain't happening then just about all major fight fans are going to feel short changed by whatever fights these two go for - that isn't versus each other.
By the way I don't blame Manny for any of it
Re: Mosley 90% the Pacman fight will happen.
Mosley may not be done, but since he last got a mega money, huge fight against Mayweather he's drawn against a very average Mora. He's not - or at least shouldn't be - in a position where he should be able to walk into another mega fight with the top fighter on the planet after his last two outings. Maybe they were deceptive as to how much he's deteriorated as Mora has a very difficult style to look good against and Floyd is capable of making very good fighters look ordinary, but still he hasn't earned this shot since his last mega fight by winning and forcing his way back into ther reckoning. There are other guys like Berto, JMM and the guys at 140 that are options and have been winning lately that are more deserving of a shot IMO. A Berto fight would interest me but I'd rather JMM 3

I sort of agree with the statement in bold. Mora beat Vernon in an ugly fight, he has a tendency to make people look bad. That's his style. Plus Shane should have got the "W" in that fight. And Mayweather is Mayweather, who does look against him? I still say Tim Bradley, once he beats Devon Alexander, is the best option until Marquez proves himself above 135.
Re: Mosley 90% the Pacman fight will happen.
I don't like the fight because i'm a Mosley fan. But......
I think it will be very exciting. Shane is tough as nails and will come forward all night. He's got a small chance, but it will be exciting.

I'd have no problem with this fight if it wasn't for the fact that Mosley was coming off a draw against an at best B level opponent (admittedly I thought he won it easily) & getting outclassed & outfought by Mayweather. I'm not so sure Shane is completely shot, I think the last 2 may have been decieving because of the opp, but he needs to earn a fight against Pacquiao with at least a win.
If not Mayweather (which I haven't completely discounted), it should be Marquez or Berto.
The earning part is it, agreed. Many ways it's his walk into stepping stone status, giving Mora can say he held him to a draw, literally and Mayweather had his way with him. He's riding name and promotional ties firstly, but still brings danger.
Dorsey was high profile, can't remember if it was HBO ppv. Tyson was a sham of a HBO co feature with pudgy Chavez fighting totally over matched Scott walker leading to their meet.
Re: Mosley 90% the Pacman fight will happen.
I consider this fight as a measuring stick to where PAC and PBF is right now in their careers. I dont think this Mosely is any different from the Mosely that losed to PBF.
Re: Mosley 90% the Pacman fight will happen.
mosley is way past his prime but i still believe he's going to be a danger to pacquiao for one thing. pacquiao's is going to be there to get hit and besides, he leaves himself open all night. still, unless mosley finds the fountain of youth, it's going to be pacquiao by decision.
Re: Mosley 90% the Pacman fight will happen.
I'd rather see him fight Berto, even if Berto is unproven he has an undefeated record and was set to face Mosley a while ago. Mayweather dominated Mosley far too much (aside from the 2nd round) for this to appeal, as he's clearly past his best.
I know undefeated records stand for little if you haven't fought complete quality, but who knows where Berto will stand in the future, and it'd at least make a chance for Pac to fight an up and coming fighter.

Nah, unless shane kayos him early, Pac will stop shane with too many punches. I can't ever remember seeing shane cover up from a punch, he always uses head and body movement which he clearly doesn't have anymore. Pac will stop him, and they will use that to say he's greater than PBF. Nasim was about to stop shane in the PBF fight. If floyd would have thrown more he could have stopped shane because he was too tired to do anything.
Re: Mosley 90% the Pacman fight will happen.
this is what i cannot understand. andre berto is out there. he's a defending champion, undefeated, fast and very powerful. sure he's untested but at least he's a fresh body who probably hasn't hit his physical prime yet.
then there is marquez. sure he's 37 years old but he can still fight. besides, he just beat a young, strong fighter in katsidis very impressively last saturday night. and out of all of pacquiao's opponents with the exception of the first morales fight, he's the one who's done more damage to pacquiao by outboxing him thoroughly and winning a big majority of the rounds.
but now pacquiao has chosen shane mosley as his next opponent? excuse me but isn't this cherry picking at it's finest? mostly WAS a great fight but his time is over. he can't move like he once could. why is pacquiao going after this guy?
okay, if pacquiao is afraid to fight marquez a third time because marquez has his number, why not go after a younger guy like andre berto? other websites are pissed off at pacquiao and bob arum for taking such a nice "easy" fight against a once great fighter but one who is too old and washed up.
many boxing fans are starting to call manny pacquiao, duckquiao and i think he definitely deserves this.

I'll explain it. Mosley and Marquez are big names; Berto isn't. Moreover, Berto is too green. Berto couldn't sell any tickets if his life depended on it. In Berto's only step up in competition against Collazo, he barely scraped by. Berto needs a big fight (or two) to get into the limelight and make it worth it for a Pacquiao or Mayweather to fight him.
Pacquiao wants to fight at 147 because at this point his team feels that is where he's most effective. Nothing wrong with that. If Pacquiao fought Marquez at 147, people would say that it is unfair to Marquez because Marquez was ineffective the one time he ventured above 135. In my opinion, its not that Marquez is ineffective above 135, its that he is unproven above 135. In a perfect world, Marquez would fight Mosley and the winner would fight Pacquiao. Is the money that different for Mosley and Marquez that fighting Pacquiao is more worth it than fighting eachother?
Will someone explain to me why Timothy Bradley isn't the best candidate out there? He meets every criticism put on Pacquiao recently: He's black, he's young/in his prime, he's been on HBO a bunch, and he'll be at his most recognized after he beats Alexander in January, and to top it off, he's proved effective at 140 and 147.
Re: Mosley 90% the Pacman fight will happen.
Everything Rantcatrat said is true, I feel the Berto fight would be worth the financial sacrifice though, for at the end of the legacy to show on his record, or Bradley as you said. Either way, it's about time he faced someone a lot younger, as he probably only has a few fights left.
Re: Mosley 90% the Pacman fight will happen.
Regardless of who PAC fights outside of PBF, there is always something negative to be said about him. So I say PAC fights whoever is the biggest draw. I'm pretty sure since PAC says he is still fighting for 3 more years eventually he is going to be fighting Berto or anyone else who is young and capable of beating PAC, their time will come.

IMO Tim Bradley will not have the power to bother PAC, nor the defense to keep PAC off him. Berto, Mosely and Martinez are the scary ones IMO.

I can see the argument for Marquez having to prove himself at 147. If he just jumped up there and was soundly beaten by Pac then the detractors would be able to say "well Marquez is ineffective above 135." So I agree with your point about an ideal situation being Marquez having a "box-off" with Mosley to fight Pacquiao. Personally I don't see Marquez as being ineffective above 135 so I wouldn't have a problem with him signing to fight Pacquiao at 147, but there would be less criticisms leveled at Manny if Marquez fought and won at that weight beforehand.
In the meantime, both Berto and Bradley are good potential opponents. Bradley still has business at 140 after Alexander which may stop this fight happening early next year, though he wouldn't turn down the opportunity if it came his way to take Pacquiao before the Maidana-Khan winner.
