Re: Inspired by Scrap (videos)
Hey student have you seen the wobble board video? the wobble board is easily one of my fave's, if your off balance during any boxing movement the board will let you know, its a good way to strengthen and stretch your feet which i value largly for this alone because i think foot training in boxing can be somewhat overlooked to say thats where punching starts.
The wobble board is easy to make i made my own from wood lol, If you think about it its amazing i couldnt say exact figures but i know the brain and neural systems have to send and recieve a hell of a lot of messages just to be able to stand up, so think about what has to happen to be able to stand on the wobble board? to shadow box on it? your effectively training the bodys balance systems? are more messages being sent? who knows, but its very very interesting just to ponder it, taking eyesight completely out of the balance loop with the board helps a lot, now your bringing it all back to feel and muscle memory, perhaps turning the muscles in your body through memory and feel into a part of the balance loop itself or perhaps its allready a part of the loop and its a matter of learning how to better tune in to better focus and feel what needs to be done, depends how you look at how balancing works. shadow boxing on the board helps to bring it back to sport specific training which is almost always safe if you ask me.
relying on the eyes for balance seems to be somthing that gets worse as we get older, or should i say we just get better at it so become desensetised to feel and calculate/judge with the eyes instead? im not sure this is just my opinion but id be interested to see what others think.
Anyway back to the wobble board the benefits are endless and thats without taking the technique benefits it brings into concideration, with stopping bad habits, reaching etc, you should definently give it a try student you wont regret it. to say Scrap gave away a gem or 2 in that video with the wobble board, roller and balls would be an understatement lol, and like you said herb if your not buying it all then at worste its a fun workout almost like a game that will hit your lower half and core from every angle while keeping your mind pre occupied on staying on the board to push a bit further to achieve a goal rather than just grinding through the workout as usual.. i could go on and on but ill just stop here lol.

Yea I saw the video, but unfortunately I couldnt find anything to use for the bottom of the wobble board so I never ended up making one.
reading your post makes me wanna try and make one again. I watched the video but didnt really think that deeply into it. That and the roller looks great to me as well. I called a local lumber yard but they had no logs the size that scrap had suggested using at the time as they had all been cut down into smaller pieces to make firewood.
But most definitely I'm gonna try and figure something out for the wobble board and roller. Looks very beneficial annd fun.
I got two medicine balls that I stand on and shadow box, and even stand on and hit the double end bag. I should try closing my eyes and try shadowboxing on em.

I find sometimes safer student if your totally alone incase of injury try shadow boxing with the lights dimmed right down or a strong light shade or 2 to bloack the lightbulb out a bit, itll work a treat and your not risking punching somthing or falling over somthing lol, its all about feel and thats what your doing learning not to rely on your eyes so much and learn to coordinate through feel and muscle memory.. or listen to your body if you wanna get all philosophical about it lol
