I watched the HBO version, how did Watt score it?
He had Khan six rounds up.
I had it like so -
Round 1 - Khan 10-8
Round 2 - Khan 10-9
Round 3 - Even 10-10
Round 4 - Khan 10-9
Round 5 - Khan 10-8 (Point deducted, unjustly)
Round 6 - Maidana 10-9
Round 7 - Maidana 10-9
Round 8 - Khan 10-9
Round 9 - Khan 10-9
Round 10 - Maidana 10-8
Round 11 - Even 10-10 (Maidana coming forward and Khan obviously still in trouble but Maidana hardly landed anything. I think some people forget the rounds should be scored in isolation, IE in scoring the 11th the 10th round should not enter thoughts)
Round 12 - Maidana 10-9
So, if my maths are right I had it 115 - 112 for Khan.

Excellent point ryanman. I also thought the 11th round wasn't at all bad for Khan. Maidana was coming forward, and Khan was moving backwards, but that wasn't the whole story of the round. Khan was the only fight who landed effectively in that round, rocking Maidana with combinations and then getting out of the way again. Maidana looked as exhausted and ready to go as Khan did.
The 12th round was similar too. Khan moved away the whole round, Maidana moved forward but landed nothing, then Amir lit him up in the final few seconds, in fact I thought he was going to floor Maidana.
Interestingly it was a similar story in the first Hopkins Taylor fight. In the championship rounds people only focused on what B Hop was doing with his come forward pressure, but Taylor was firing back with combinations to the body and landed more effectively off the back foot.
People definitely can be guilty of judging the momentum rather the round.
Re: How did you score the Khan vs Maidana fight ?
I wasn't really scoring the fight, because i was enjoying it. When i watch a good action fight for the 1st time i don't bother scoring it, but as i recall.
I seem to remember Marco Maidana sweeping the championship rounds, with a 10-8 round in there somewhere. I also seem to remember him winning 2 rounds before the championship rounds aswell.
But with the point deduction and knockdown against Marcos Maidana, i have no bloody idea how it would work out mathematically at the moment. But i'd say Amir Khan won legitmately by a few points.

Think it was 116-110.
What was Hbo's?

114-111 I think. He gave Amir the 11th. He also gave Maidana a 10-8 round 10, as did all three of the judges. I know one judge gave Amir the 12th round too.

I think i probably had it somewhere in the middle of those 2.
Re: How did you score the Khan vs Maidana fight ?
Round 1 - Khan 10-8
Round 2 - Khan 10-9
Round 3 - Maidana 10-9
Round 4 - Khan 10-9
Round 5 - Khan 10-8 (bullshit though)
Round 6 - Maidana 10-9
Round 7 - Maidana 10-9
Round 8 - Khan 10-9
Round 9 - Khan 10-9
Round 10 - Maidana 10-8
Round 11 - Maidana 10-9
Round 12 - Maidana 10-9
113-112 Khan. This is actually closer than I thought it was originally and suggests that the point deduction was significant. Also if Cortez hadn't of kept jumping in in the 10th Maidana may have been able to force a stoppage or at least force multiple KD's. Khan should have been warned or docked for the excessive holding. If you are going to be firm on an elbow that didn't even land, then you should also be firm on extremely blatant clinching. Cortez is only firm against his least favoured fighter and 'fair' to the other.
Once again poor officiating has made it's mark on what should have just been a fun fight.
Re: How did you score the Khan vs Maidana fight ?
Funny that one judge would have had Maidana winning if it wasn't for the 10-8 round against him where Cortez took that point. Also some of your scorecards reflect that too. But outside of that all I'm hearing is praise for Khan outboxing and outhearting him. Interesting. Still need to catch this damn fight :)

What are you talking about Khan hardly held at all! Come on Miles look at the shellacking he suffered in the 10th round, he took flush punch after flush punch and barely held at all.
In the 11th and 12th rounds he circled and kept away until he got his legs back, what is wrong with that exactly?
And how is blatently throwing an elbow not a foul? Were ther roles reversed you would be arguing for a harsher treatment of the filthy Amir and his fouling elbows, his disgusting low life tactic of throwing a punch when his respectful opponent was trying to touch gloves etc.
Maidana totally deserved to get a point docked. It's boxing, trying to elbow somebody in the face is considered bad sportsmanship.

I'm surprised that you said all that and made no comment about my scorecard. It would have been a draw had the point not been taken away and that isn't quite the fight I originally saw despite being biased in favour of Maidana. I am quite aware most others have it a little wider for Khan though. But not by much.
Some of that holding was ridiculous and I don't just mean clinching, but also the bizarre attempts to put 2 hands around Maidana's head. He was also pushing the head down and hitting a lot. He was warned continually, but that was as far as Cortez would go. It is an ugly thing and I would like more fighters to be penalised for it. As it stands fighters seem to get away with it a lot these days.
If the elbow had actually hit Khan and hurt him in some way then for sure I would be totally for the deduction, but as it stands Khan wasn't even hit with anything. Cortez took a bit of a knock, but a warning would have sufficed. You don't take points for a first low blow, so why take points for an elbow that didn't even hit a fighter? It is ridiculous.

Round 1 Khan 10-8
Round 2 Khan 10-9
Round 3 Maidana 10-9
Round 4 Draw 10-10
Round 5 Khan 10-8 cause of the point off for Maidana
Round 6 Maidana 10-9
Round 7 Maidana 10-9
Round 8 Khan 10-9
Round 9 Khan 10-9
Round 10 Maidana 10-8 Dont care what anyone says Khan got his ass handed to him very lucky to last the round.
Round 11 Draw 10-10
Round 12 Maidana 10-9
So had it Khan 114 Maidana 113
I had Khan by 2, i think.
1: Khan 10-8
2: Khan 10-9
3: Maidana 10-9
4: Maidana 10-9
5: Khan 10-8
6: Maidana 10-9
7: Maidana 10-9
8: Khan 10-9
9: Khan 10-9
10 Maidana 10-8
11: Khan 10-9
12 : 10-10
Basically had the knock down and the deduction winning the fight for Khan.
