Re: If Dana White entered boxing what could he do for the sport?
He would always carry the mma banner so I cant see him doing much frankly when head to head with fighters turned promoters in the sport. Simply put he's a good money man but respect is a different animal and don't see him getting it from a Pac etc. I think he'd be what Vince McMahon was to the NFL :-X Ufc is a babe in the woods compared to boxing...its kingpin coming 'over' says it all if it were to happen.

The UFC has only 1 brand they worry about and do not try to compete with anyone else unlike boxing has let's say Arum....Arum and others like him put on shit bouts after shit bouts taking us for all fools....90% of the time we all end up bitching about the quality of cards or even under cards more then not turn out to be better then the main event....
What if White and the UFC entered boxing, signed fighters and put on cards the way they do in the UFC?....Then they made their own title?......I mean shit Pride, COG, WEC etc all inspire to be the UFC and UFC has boughten a few out....In fact fighters strive just to fight in the UFC let alone be a UFC champion....
1 out of every 8 UFC cards are just OK but almost NEVER suck....
(if you are an MMA fan I am speaking of because you hardly ever hear MMA fans bitching about the sports quality).....
UFC 126 PPV portion consisted of....John Jones Vs Ryan Bader, Forrest Griffith Vs Rich Franklin, Anderson Silva Vs Vetor Belfort....
That is boxings equal to.....Floyd Vs Manny, Cotto Vs Berto and JuanMa Vs Gamboa......
The President is an average Joe who does not sugar coat or bullshit, they have no sanctioning fees, the PPV cards are cheaper.....
In short they are business men in the UFC who know how to keep not only fans but fighters happy, have a legit champion because there is only ONE champion.....
I won't keep going on because I do not want to seem like I am a big MMA nut because boxing is the sport I love but personally I would love to see Dana White get involved in boxing.....
Anyone who knows about MMA look at the last 10 UFC PPV cards then look at boxings and there is no comparison......
IMO they would bury King, Arum, GBP, GSP, Warren ect in terms of quality and in terms of the way the champions they have are looked at....
Any thoughts or am I just crazy for thinking so?
Yha more PPV cards that shouldn't be PPV. Just squeezing the working man for every dollar until they catch on. And PPV are less money? Really? LOL What $10?
And Dana would do nothing for Boxing. And in a couple years you will ask what would ARUM do for UFC...why? Cause UFC is headed down the same road that Boxing is and we can say Dana is a young Arum...why?
Dana will never, ever, ever have Silva and GSP fight just like Arum will never let Pac fight Mayweather
They are milking there cows!
Really never ....I am pretty sure over the years...Chuck Liddell fought Tito Ortiz, Randy Coture, Penn faced Pulver, Hughes, GSP. Lesner faced Carwin, Velazquez, Mir, Rua faced Michada, Evans faced Machida, Rampage, Rampage faced Griffin and so on...Everyone of them a top earner for the UFC....They have NOTHING to lose if their guy gets beat because he gets beat by another one of their guys so the money still stays in the UFC and the loser still stays a superstar...
Pay attention Mafia man.....And just for your info.....Manny and Floyd both fight who they want when they want and if Manny told Arum he wanted to fight Godzilla Arum would have zero say in it...The worst he could do is sue if he did not get his promotional cut.....Boxers at the level of Floyd, Manny, Klitschkos etc fight who they want when they want if they choose to......The promoters job is to make the bouts and fighters allow promoters to make bouts they feel is best because that is why they pay them....You are confusing elite with third tier fighters
Over the years over the schmears.....Dance around it all you want but Dana will never put GSP and Silva in the ring
And if you don't think Arums has a major role in why Pac fights other Top Rank fighters and not anyone else then you should hand me the pipe

I don't get the sarcasm. UFC PPV's are doing as well if not better than boxing. It's only the mega fights with cross over appeal that do better for boxing. Certainly the live gates are doing better than boxing. They have done a great job of promoting UFC, the sport, and I look at it as being more violent than boxing. Yet it doesn't appear to get the bad rap that boxing has.
I don't the there is anyone who can do for boxing more than the fighters can. The only way the promoters can help boxing is by somehow getting the sanctioning bodies to come up with a single ranking system.
Sarcasm? I was replying to the post that MMA has more PPV cards and they are cheaper. I replied cheaper? What by $10? As in UFC is not much cheaper...Still $50 at the end of the day. And Dana is milking the crap by having crappy PPV. Some of those PPV cards should have been TV bouts. He has even given some events free from PPV in the past to make up for shittty PPV events he charged for.

Compare the last 10 UFC PPV to the last 10 boxing and you can not say that the boxing ones beat them out......As for the Arum comments I mentioed specifically Manny...Same goes for Floyd, Mosley, Jones Jr, DLH when he fought...Guys like that the promoter bends over to kiss their ass,,,,,,the UFC has not problem putting in their top cash money makers in dangerous fights Silva Vs Belfort was proof one not to mention what history has shown
Re: If Dana White entered boxing what could he do for the sport?
Unfortunately, the only thing that would help boxing would be some type of government intervention. There are simply TOO many sanctioning bodies, too many belts, and quite honestly, too many quality fighters for any type of UFC type of promotion to exist. Plus, the basic fundamentals of UFC and boxing are different. In MMA, the beginning of the spot as a major power is fairly recent, the history is still fairly new. Boxing history goes back more than a century now. The best fighters at the beginning of MMA had a losses on their record, everyone had losses on their record, so promoters had to sell the brutality of the sport and also sell the tough ass personalities of the fighters. That's what were used to in MMA. And that's the way the sport still operates. This is why Dana White is able to put some guy who is 15-9 on TV and make him into the next big thing or at least a feared contender to be taken seriously.
In boxing, we've been trained to not even take someone that seriously once they've got more than 5 losses on their record. We're used to seeing guys go from the Olympics, stay undefeated to create that air of invincibility or at least only have one loss or one draw and then watch them rise or fall once they are ready to prove themselves at the top of the game. THAT'S how the stars are born pretty much in boxing. If a guy was 15-9 that would be a hard sell to the majority of the public in boxing because we're used to MUCH better. Now Dana White (or someone) COULD pay more established fighters to join a league and then make fights between the guys A LA UFC. But keep in mind that UFC Fighters fight more but they get paid SHIT!!! Dana White would need ALOT of startup capital. Anderson Silva, the best MMA fighter in the world, was only guaranteed $200,000 for his fight with Bellfort. In comparison, Pacquiao and Mayweather, the best boxers in the world are both making $20-40 Million dollars a fight. Established or upcoming boxers would not sign with a league like UFC because the contracts would be too long and not pay enough. Remember Dana White got in at the beginning of MMA's TRUE popularity and bought everything up to create a monopoly in which he sets the salaries. In boxing, there's so much money that it would take a VERY rich person to be able to create a true league like UFC.
