I did the exact same thing. I should have had more faith in Froch.
everybody always backs the other guy when froch fights
i bet this johnson fight is the first in about 6 that the saddo opinion sides with froch
it will be back against him in the final tho and people will be eating their words again
I thought he'd beat Dirrell, and I backed him against Kessler & Pascal, but I really thought Abraham would win the Super Six. Superb power and an awesome defense I just thought would be too much for the inexperienced American fighters, an overrated Kessler and for Froch. Glad I was wrong though.
do you think he beat dirrell?
Re: Shame thread: When have you been woefully wrong in your boxing predictions
I thought Dela Hoya would kill Mayweather.... Thinking way back, I even thought Gatti would :-X
t wasn't horribly wrong but I was absolutely convinced that Mosley would outbox Cotto.
Oh and I was sure that Haye/ Maccarinelli would be an over-cautious 12 round snoozefest.
;D
Re: Shame thread: When have you been woefully wrong in your boxing predictions
Not really a prediction but I remember bragging about Wladimir Klitschko to my uncle and my cousins when they came to visit from out of town. Unfortunately it was the day he fought Corrie Sanders ;D :owned:

before haye and macrinelli i said to my mate it is like the time millwall got to the FA cup final and played united, they did well getting there and deserved it but once they were there had no chance of winning
i was right

Yeah just. Was one of the worst fights I've ever seen though.

i think that is my least liked fight in history, people are actually happy to say dirrell should have won the fight despite his display
Re: Shame thread: When have you been woefully wrong in your boxing predictions
Whenever I make predictions I always give someone a slight nod to win but always credit the other fighter and giving them a chance so that I never have the opportunity to dine on some crow.
In hindsight, I had WAY TOO much confidence in Jermain Taylor. I thought he wasn't finished after the Pavlik losses and predicted he would make some noise in the Super 6. At least I wasn't completely wrong. He did make noise thudding on the canvas during his fights in the tourney.

Bradley-Alexander is the recent one.
But. I go looking for someone to have sig bet with if I really feel my fighter is gonna win. And so far, I've been really successful with it. 8-0 baby. And it'll be 9-0 if Donaire wins this Jan 19. ;D
didn't know that the fight already happened lol
Oops! Mah bad. ;D
I guess I'm that excited.
Re: Shame thread: When have you been woefully wrong in your boxing predictions
VD's wrong picks will need this thread to have a part 2. Fact.
Re: Shame thread: When have you been woefully wrong in your boxing predictions
I was 100% certain that Margarito was going to knock out Shane Mosley.
Re: Shame thread: When have you been woefully wrong in your boxing predictions
I've been wrong more often than I've been right in major fights but I was pretty certain that ODH would beat Paq. Considering the one sided beat down that insued that was probably my worst pick.
Re: Shame thread: When have you been woefully wrong in your boxing predictions
I picked Abraham to knock out Froch
I thought Valuev might be too big for Haye despite the fact that he's wank
I kept telling anyone that would listen that it was Audley's destiny to knock out Haye - when it became clear he was bricking it on the ring walk but it was too late to backtrack as I was sitting there with my Audley Harrison shirt on...not one of my best moments (though thankfully I think I refrained from posting on here about that fight when I got sucked in and became as delusional as Harrison)
I also though Ward and Dirrell would be too inexperienced to have any success in the Super Six
There's probably more but I can't really remember
Re: Shame thread: When have you been woefully wrong in your boxing predictions
Pac v ODH
Pac v Hatton
Pac v Cotto
Became a Pac Fan.
Re: Shame thread: When have you been woefully wrong in your boxing predictions
Like others I was convinced that Abraham would decapitate Froch. Er... yeah :-X
In further Super Six related idiocy, I was convinced that Ward would be horribly found out because he had no power (not true) and a dodgy chin (even less true). I thought Kessler would stop him in 7 :vd:
I actually believed Kevin Mitchell would take Katsidis over 12. I was live at Upton Park to see how off I was with that :-\
I thought Graham Earl would take Amir Khan to some 'dark places'. Only place he took him was the corner as Amir pummelled the shit outta him.
I BELIEVED Librado Andrade would carry on where he left off in the Bute rematch, although he is my favourite fighter so it was more wishful thinking.
I said Lamont Peterson would beat Tim Bradley, although it was closer than the hometown scorecards.
There's probably many, many more, but I can't remember offhand.
