Think Lewis would of beat him in prime as well Tyson beat a lot of b rate fighters in his prime. Then goes to lose to fucking Douglas then crushed by Holyfeild he never beat the elite really.

i used to hate tyson in the 80s esp. when he beat up one of my favorite boxers Larry The easton Assassin Holmes. I rooted for McNeeley, seldon and all the tomato cans, right up to the 2 Holyfield fights. I even rooted for Botha. But something changed in me after that fight. I started to care about Tyson the human being. You know, feel some sympathy/compassion for him as a man, for everything he went through, and how totally unprepared he was for the stardom/finances/marriage etc. I mean really even I with a relatively stable upbringing compared to that would find it hard at age 20 to be thrust into all that. what a toxic mix for tyson. and he never really got it together until maybe this year or so. I felt horrible to see him standing tough and taking those shots from Lewis, and felt equally bad to see him lose to Williams and McBride.
Call me Mr. Empathy, go ahead.
p.s. and i'm not by any means a big tyson fan, seriously, but this guy was 1 tough mother. what a fucking chin he had, and we didnt find out until the Douglas fight and beyond. I saw him take some monster shots from big strong hitters, and he could dig down and fire back equally monstrous shots, suck it up, and he never quit, ever that i saw, and proved he wasnt one of these guys who when the going gets tough, take a frikkin hike. He took those shots, took 'em hard and kept his dignity and like 1 poster said 'went out on his shield'. Boxing sorely needs another mike tyson. The impact he made---hype or not---is still being felt and mentioned to this day.
p.p.s and i think the mike tyson who rocked larry holmes and mike spinks in 1988 would shred lennox lewis. too much head movement and feinting and speed for the big Lummox. tyson KO lewis round 5. ***OH, AND LET ME GET THIS 1 LAST JAB IN (I PROMISE ITS THE LAST, BLOKES): NO FRIKKIN WAY LEWIS' CHIN WITHSTANDS TYSON'S RAZORBLADE MISSILES. NFW!!!
Mr Empathy I agree, he had nearly a 20 inch neck so could take a hell of a beating. Against Lewis it seemed that's what he wanted.
holy mother, 20 inches?.....too strong for his own good.
