Re: UFC 127 - who's tuning in?
The Hamil win was pure BS. Bisping trains hard and shows up to fight but he isn't on the same level as the top 5 MWs in the world. I wouldn't pick the guy to last against, Marqaurdt, Okami, Belfort, Franklin, Silva. I don't think he'd beat Shields or Nick Diaz either. Mike is a good well rounded fighter but IMHO he hasn't shown that he has the tool box to fight the top talent. A fight with Stann might be a good next step.

Marqaurdt? He got exposed twice Bisping would be able to beat him. You say Franklin who doesn't even fight at middleweight any more but you don't mention Chael? Shields got beat up by a welterweight in Martin kampman who to be honest isn't all the great. So Bisping beats him. Nick Diaz wont fight a 185 he's to scared of Mayhem let alone Bisping who would crush him in the stand up pick him apart. I don't know what Belfort has after that loss and Okami would be a good fight i couldn't pick that one. Stann would be a step back it would be like fighting Leben again. He wasn't showed the tools? His boxing? He has great movement and his wrestling? You need to watch his fights closer. If Maia can get a title shot then Bisping deserves one. On a whole he is a more complete fighter than the champion with his take down defense and wrestling skills which is lacking by Anderson.

Shame he won. I would love to see him put in with Silva, just to see him slaughtered again.
I missed the prelim fights, did anyone see how Ross Pearson looked? I know he won a UD but I haven't seen if he looked any good. I thought he was unlucky to lose his last fight, but he'd looked pretty solid up to that point and his fights before.
Classless? what a joke. Rivera is classless making youtube videos to mock his opponent when he should have been training. Not only did he do that but i also hear he talked rubbish about Bisping's family? I would have acted exactly the same as him an i give him credit for not kicking off worse at the weigh ins and before/after the fight I'd wouldnt have finished the beating when the ref stepped in thats for sure. Bisping was right Rivera has nothing and he showed that in the fight.
For the fight on a whole i think as its Bisping's 3 straight win he deserves a number one contender fight i mean why not? People say he will get smashed but Anderson's "biggest threat" in Vitor got KO'd by the first clear strike.
Come on man, Bisping regularly talks shit about his opponent. Now Rivera does it to him that means its ok for Bisping to spit at his coaches and throw an illegal knee? Rivera said he was mocking Bisping's fighting style etc to try and force the fight and it worked. None of the stuff I saw him say/do was that extreme, it was just run of the mill shit talk. I haven't heard about him talking about his family, if that's true then yeah that is a classless act too, and that's overstepping the mark. But really I don't see how you can say spitting at the guys corner is justified, or isn't a classless thing to do. He responded to the talking the way any fighter would want to, by going in and stopping Rivera, he should have left it there
Re: UFC 127 - who's tuning in?
Pretty decent event- very controversial too!
Bisping I had begun to warm too. Last night was very bad.

I doubt Bisping has the skills to take Nate down much less keep him there. Nate would ice him standing. I didn't mention Chael b/c he is under suspension but yes Chael would own the guy as well. Shields was weight drained against Kampan and your right didnt' look good but he did beat Henderson who blasted Bisping. I've watched all of Mike's fights and yes I don't think he has the skills to hang with the top tier of the MW div. You mentioned his boxing but even a rather un-polished striker like Jorge was landing looping rights regularly. He may very well get a title shot especially if he notches another win but the Maia analogy doesn't really lend credibility to him earning or deserving the shot. To me when I watch Bisping fight he always seems in trouble at some point in the fight even when he wins. To his credit that shows heart and the ability to adapt but it also shows that even less than elite caliber fighters can find and exploit holes in Mikes game.
As far as the trash talking goes I don't really care what all goes on pre-fight but afterwards show some class.
Re: UFC 127 - who's tuning in?
I can't find a source but there is a lot of message board chatter about the next TUF being Australi vs UK with Bisping and Noke as the coaches...somehow I doubt this.

As soon as Rivera called out Bisping, ole Mikey started talking shit about how Jorge's not on his level and doesn't deserve a fight with him and it'd be a step backwards to fight him.
Then Rivera started making fun of Mike's jab-and-jog style and pillow fists.
Then Bisping starts on about how Rivera's insulting his family and being a racist.
If Rivera was talking racist shit about the Count's family, he was doing it in private. I never saw it, no one I know saw it, Bisping overreacted to minor trash talk.
He shouldn't be in line for a title shot because he's progressively fighting worse competition. If he beats someone like Stann or Wanderlei, then give him a top guy a top guy (Marquardt, Maia, Okami, Sonnen, Belfort). If he beats one of them, then he clearly deserves a title shot. But as it stands now, he's lost to the only top MW he's faced (Hendo and Wanderlei), he's ranked 9 or 10 with no wins over top guys.
He made a video saying that all koalas have chlamydia and then insinuated that bispings girlfriend has it...Rivera deserved what he got.
All the aussies got behind bisping for this fight since we found out his gf is an aussie lol
Re: UFC 127 - who's tuning in?
Bisping is classless, glad hes getting fined.

I'm not condoning what Bisping did- as a matter of fact I have been a primary detractor from Bisping in many instances, but I really do feel that Rivera instigated and fueled this entire situation.

I got no issue with pre-fight trash talking. I really don't pay much attention to it but to me when the fight is over and you've got the victory show some class. If you really think the guy is a dirtbag then just ignore him. You've won for crying out loud do you really need to act like a teenager to feel better about it?
Re: UFC 127 - who's tuning in?
Word has it that now Sonnens suspension is up, then a fight with Bisping and him is on the cards! Mike will struggle with takedown defence, but his BJJ is of a good standard and underated imo. Bisping hangs with Chael in standup without a doubt, it's just the groundwork that will trouble Mike if this fight happens.
I would see this fight being the next big card to hit the UK, alternatively he beats Sonnen stateside then, gets a title shot against Silva in the UK.
