So yes there are some fighters that were left out. But I stand by my choices and it's the closet to accurate list you can possibly get. Anybody that disagrees is free to give there reason why. Anybody that disagrees just to disagree can go fuck themselves.

Great list VD this is why i've always said, your one of the most knowledgable posters i've ever met.
But i have to say i think Ruben
Castillo maybe a little bit overrated being ranked number 1, i haven't seen loads of his fights. I've seen quite a few though and know a bit about him.
But im no expert by any means, but he only made 6 defenses at Bantamweight right ? and when he moved up he was unsuccesful mostly.
His best wins above Bantamweight were against young Ramirez, Chacon. But he failed against Kotey, Lopez, Arguello, Pedroza.
Now i realize this is above his best weightclass, but did he really dominate enough at Bantamweight to be ranked number 1 ?
I presume you mean Olivares ICE ?
Yea my bad total mistype there.
Re: 70 Greatest Mexican Fighters Ever
IMO
Lopez should be #1
Manuel Medina should be above Guty Espadas(Too high)
Christian Mijares is too high at #30
Morales and Barrera should be above Marquez(Too high at #4)
Oscar Larios should be above ALejandro Gonzalez, Raul Garcia, Omar Nino, Edgar Sosa
Damn 70 names that's a good effort.

It took a lot for me not to put Lopez at number 1. I rate him extremely high. But Oliveras and Chavez I think did enough to trump him. Marquez is fine where he's at. His losses prevent him from being higher. But really you can only punish a fighter for being robbed so much. That fact that he didn't get wins he deserved cuz of moronic judging is unfortunately held against him. But I'm not gonna punish him to the extreme. Morales I can make a case for. But I see no way I can rank Barrera ahead of Marquez.
The Espadas listed is the Espadas from the late 70's. The Flyweight champion. Not his son that fought Erik Morales. Medina lost to pretty much only good fighters. But he lost to them way more than he beat them. Espadas I think deserves to be ahead of him
I'm a take care of something right quick. I'll come back and answer Ice and Maui's questions regarding Oliveras and Cuevas
Re: 70 Greatest Mexican Fighters Ever
My man thats a killer list and some serious depth!! Fooking nice. Numbers tend to make me dizzy but off the top Campas has struck me as pretty pumped up. Great numbers but seemed to find the door in more then a few L's. I'd put Larios and Gabe over him.
J.M Lopez was a gem undiscovered mostly. Damn monster but got in his own way. Would put Miquel A. Gonzalez over....J Gonzalez, Raton Jimenez too
Bolio always pissed me off. 53 a bit too high for me....got fat and sold on own power. Awesome list bro, really!

I wish he and Palomino had gotten together.
Talk about a complex fighter. I think I was more than fair in his ranking. If anything a little to fair. Might of placed a little to high. He gets credit for being the youngest welterweight champion ever at 18. I doubt that ever gets broken. Who his team paid off to get a title shot with a 15-6 record and coming off a loss, I have no idea. But he took advantage of his undeserved title opportunity by slaughtering a good fighter in Angel Espada. Cuevas was as one-dimensional as they came. But that one dimension was a demonic left hook. That was literally breaking jaws. Espada and Harold Weston had to eat through straws after facing him. His 11 title defenses I believe it was is a hella impressive. But like you brought up in the Orlando Canizales case it was never an undisputed title he was defending. The welterweight title was already splintered. He was done after the Hearns fight
