1)Bute is back on showtime this fall (october or november)(the fight with Mendy is just a quick in between) apparently Kessler is the target and if it falls apart, they consider Pavlik or Froch.
2)Mendy is the mandatory (yes, unfortunately). Interbox absolutely had to face him within 6-7 months despite Mendy shiteness and they have to get rid of that mandatory ASAP.
3) SO what they did was to make a one stone 3 birds: You fight Mendy straight away to get rid of the stupid mandatory defense till mid 2012, you do that in Roumania to get Bute a quick payday and to keep him busy before his autumn showdown with Kessler on showtime and then possibly match him against the winner of the super 6 or the second place of the super 6, so is the plan apparently.
That's just a quick in between and to get rid of the shit mandatory and to allow Bute to fight at least once in his natal Roumania, really.
It's not just a one fight thing though. Bute, Andrade aside, has shown zero desire to fight any decent opposition since he acquired a belt. By the time he actually steps up, he's going to lose because he'll be old and he won't have the experience to deal with an upper-echelon fighter. What a waste of an incredibly talented fighter.

Prior to the super 6, Bute had one if not the best resume of the whole bunch, I've just read that he had to fight Mendy now or be stripped from the IBF (I thought that he had a few months to still do it but apparently it was due) LE GRAND CLUB And Showtime asked Bute to have the belt (i.e to fight Mendy in order not to be stripped) for his next bouts with Kessler and the champion of the super 6. Bute is only 30, he will have time to fight all the top guys before being on the decline.

WTF are you for real???
haha!!
Ward and Dirrell both untested youngsters are the only fighters he had a better resume then, but he was a world champ so he had no excuses.
So he had a better resume than Froch? No, Taylor? No, Kessler No, Abraham very similar if you ask. So lets not get carried away with him having better resumes then most if not all the fighters prior to the super six.
Take the two Andres out they had only just started fighting 12 rounders you could say his resume is on a par with Abraham he other three pissed all over butes resume.
