Re: Lebedev's KO of Roy is KO of the Year
If it wasn't Jones jr it's just another clubbing accumliative punch out on an overmatched and undertrained fighter. Weekly event.

AHH geez please put the mitts away roy please >
Re: Lebedev's KO of Roy is KO of the Year
roy jones was a my favourite boxer for years and i'm still amazed when i watch his clips especially montages like this one...
in recent years i've had to face the facts and admit to myself that he did not fight the best fighters available and the ones he did fight were often total mismatches. he bravely defended his titles against a part time cop, a bartender and cab driver and looked spectacular doing so. as shown in the clip...
you cannot deny his incredible skills and almost super human agility and speed...but against whom did he choose to display and test his abilities? if you look at the records of the fighters that roy chose to fight on boxrec, at first glace things look pretty solid...but take a look at the fighters that those fighters built their respectable looking records on and you'll see the problem. there's alot of red... alot of red!
he did alot of amazing things inside the ring. things we'll never see anyone do again. he amassed belt like no one else and set the middle to heavy record...but lets be reasonable and look at the whole not just the flash.

Those men don't get to be mandatory challengers for a title unless the sanctioning bodies rank them which means that they were impressive enough to earn title shots. Also alot of the men roy jones defeated were already title holders or won belts after roy beat them. Which is much more impressive than beating men that never fought again.

you may support fighters building and maintaining their records by fighting bums who fought bigger bums to advance their careers; but that doesn't really impress me. it may impress you tho. personal taste i guess... roy could have chosen to fight other fighters if he had really wanted to push himself.
also i think its pretty clear that the sanctioning bodies have taken sacrificed quality for quantity for the sake of making money.

Who other than the the european fighters (benn, collins, eubank, JC, DM) could jones have faced that he wouldn't have received criticism for during his reign?
Re: Lebedev's KO of Roy is KO of the Year
its just sad to watch it! its like there is a huge turn off switch on the side of rjj's head.

thats a pretty good list you've got there. i see you've come around to my side of the argument. haha.
take nothing away from roy... he was a phenomenon. but lets be realistic about the level of competition that he looked so great against. your list is a good example of people he could have chosen to fight if he had wanted to push himself harder.

I think those fighters are only used as an excuse to diminish RJJ, because no one would've honestly picked any of them to stand a chance against Roy. In fact if he fought them there would just be a bunch of excuses. I mean who on their records is so good that it made them such viable opponents since you basically shitted on Roy's resume.
Who did collins/Benn?/eubank?/JC? face that suggests Rjj beating either of them would solidify a higher legacy especially considering that some of the common opponents who were "good" Roy obliterated them?

Since you can't answer the question, I'll take that as you simply can't, and are just yapping away because RJJ just simply didn't appeal to you for whatever reason.
