How often is the guy draped over the ropes and unconscious? No real way for Rock to see that.
And yes, Rock was a dirty fighter.
Everyone could see Jersey was not getting up and Rocky still gave him a left hook for good measure.
His beating of Don Cockell was dirty and brutal.
Don Cockell was no saint himself in that fight. I'm ok with the occasional elbow, shoulder, grinding chin into someone's shoulder, shot on the hip etc.
Bernard Hopkins approves this message.

The ref let a lot of Rocky's illegal blows go.

It's a dirty business, and Rocky was no Saint, but I don't believe he ever had a reputation as a dirty fighter. I'd agree that the last little shot on Walcott was late, but I don't think Marciano would have thrown it if he realized Walcott was unconscious, more like a reflex.

Reflex of a dirty fighter. Over here in the UK particularly after the brutal beating of Don, he had the reputation. Good luck to him if he can get away with it, but he would have been disqualified if Dave Paris was reffing him. :)

Arms, shoulders, hips etc. Greb was a dirty fighter as was Wilde. Norfolk was a thumber. Langford was probably thumbed more then anyone in boxing history. What we consider "dirty" today in many ways was "normal" fighting in past eras.
That punch was remarkable. A counter that looked like a lead. Perfect applied distance by Marciano. Instinctively knew it would get to the mark sooner even if Joe started to throw first.

We expect nothing different from the Nation that thought the Minutemen were "cheating" by shooting from behind trees and rocks ;)
Re: Marciano's KO of Walcott
All I know was that Walcott's legs opted to go on vacation before the end of the first round. I called the second fight round fourteen. The first one was great it brought out the best in both fighters. Rocky aged him.

We also wore bright red as uniforms in the forest so that you could see us better as targets to be shot at. However we are not bitter.

And we Americans are exceedingly glad to hear that you got over it...after burning the White House of course.

Well alright then, just as long as you don't have another go at us, or try collecting those back taxes you think we might owe. ;)
Re: Marciano's KO of Walcott
You saved us in the war all is forgiven, we have been bending over backwards ever since taking it from you guys that everyone hates us as much as they do you lot.
Re: Marciano's KO of Walcott
Of course the freedom haters hate the us. They hate all freedom loving, Tyranist haters. When they can't enslave you with government, they hate you. When socialists/communists freedom haters hate you be proud and happy.
