Nobody asks Povetkin "Who you want to fight", its a decision that Sauerland makes. They are currently negotiating with 5 or 6 fighters (Holyfield, Dimitrenko, Mormeck, Rahman among them) and the decision on who will Povetkin fight next has to be made soon.
I bet they'll chose Holyfield. It's an easy win that will make some good money for Sauerland.
A Dimitrenko fight could make money in Germany too. The problem is that Dimitrenko is scheduled to defend his European title against Sprott on September 24th. He will have to cancel that fight if he wants a world title fight on December 17th.

This is utterly ludicrous. What has the real deal done to deserve a championship fight? His last bouts (the one he won) were lackluster performances against washed up opposition. I really can't see how come he can have another change at the belts, really.

He's struggled desperately in his last fights against appalling opposition. At least Povetkin isn't a puncher and will probably beat him up gently.

I honestly think Holyfield will put up a pretty good fight against Povetkin. Povetkin really isn't that good.
He'll almost certainly still beat a near 50 Holyfield, but maybe not. Holyfield has a small chance I think.
haha you mean the 46 year old Brian Nielson who hadn't fought in almost 10 years and finally succumbed after a competitive 10 round battle and the 42 year old Botha, coming off a draw against the heralded Pedro Carrion, who Evander managed to come from behind to stop in the 8th?

Sherman Williams was rocking Holyfield, he looked like he was going to get stopped that night. He was behind on all the judges scorecards. Luckily a minor cut from a headbutt meant he was able to pull out at the end of the third round and get a no contest, much like Nate Campbell did when he was getting beat up by Tim Bradley.
I had never heard of Sherman Williams.
None of these fights bode well for Evander when facing arguably the third best fighter in the heavyweight division. Holyfield is doomed, the ridiculous dream will end here with a battered and broken Holyfield saved from himself by the referee.

Sherman Williams is a big fat tough trial horse that has been around for a long time in the heavyweight division. That was a bad showing for Holyfield to say the least, but I expect him to be in better condition if/when he fights Povetkin.
Did you by chance watch Povetkin's last fight ?
Not very impressive.
