Re: Am I Missing Something
yes they're dull bot not their fault - ring walks are best thing about them.
there's no opposition for them lets face it. But yes Wlad is scared of fighting in close and his leaning pisses me off
But you fight to your strengths I guess and if it more or less guarantees the win what do you do :-\

Its a lack of promotion and keeping a flow of young fighters coming in. Boxing is a hard sport and the best fighters are only going to come from the poorer countires where it is a relatively easier way to make money and get themselves out of poverty. Unfortunately for the heavyweight division, the poor countries that produce boxers are generally small men. Unless someone goes and scouts somewhere like Nigeria for a big man that can fight (that would probably be bonkers as they are from Nigeria), then things wont change much.
Good points genetics is moving we are going soft with no hunger.
In regards Wald its also a bit of a reflection on the skill levels of HW's these days that none can work him out.
Still good luck to them both, minimalism is an art too.
Re: Am I Missing Something
They are a bit like sprouts, they are good for you but you don't have to like them.;D
Re: Am I Missing Something
They are both terrible. Bad for boxing and completely pulling the wool over peoples eyes. "Oh you wait Wlad is gonna knock Haye out after dissing him" didn't happen
"Oh you wait Vitali is gonna murder Chisora" didn't happen
They treat their opponents like a joke using all kinds of gamesmanship as though being about a foot taller and two or three stones heavier wasn't enough. They then fight at home in Germany taking 85% of the money and being allowed to push down, wrestle and poke their opponents in the face all night. Wlad is so safety oriented that you would think he was a bantamweight in with a cruiserweight and Vitali while being more aggressive is hardly busy with his punches.
They are deathly dull, robotic and killing the excitement in the shop front division. How people can defend Wlad fighting Mormeck and then go on and on about Haye being a fraud and then point to Vitali and make excuses for him avoiding Valuev is beyond me. Anyone remotely near their size with a half decent punch and average technical ability would expose them.
If Chisora who has very little power can give Vitali kittens, and a back Pedalling blownup cruiserweight in Haye is too much for Wlad to finish, how can people delude themsleves into thinking they could hang with the ATG's? Holmes, Foreman, Ali, Frazier, Shavers,Tyson, could all batter the krap out of either of them.
Re: Am I Missing Something
People say the div would be worse without them
Thats bollox though it would be miles better
The division rubbish because they rule it wih their defensive take no chances at all styles and their gready contracts
Ok provetkin clearly isnt amazing but is one of the better contenders but theres abosolutely no point in him fighting either klit

Why risk a wild swing from Haye when you can outbox him? He would have looked like a chump & would have been criticised..why risk a points win when you're clearly ahead blah blah blah
Re: Am I Missing Something
I often wonder what would have happened if Tyson was refused entry to the UK as there was talk of him not being allowed in when he came over to fight julius francis... as I remember one of the Klits (not sure which one) was willing to step in and fight him in Germany.
I love watching both of them fight no mater who they are against... they just suffer from the Lennox Lewis syndrome (safety over entertaining risks) Still remember Lennox screaming at the camera "Its a Science" after his snooze fest against Tua...and like Lennox they will not be fully appreciated until they are gone.

I had more interest in watching Lennox fights than I do Wladimir's. Whether due to lack of credible opponents, Wlad's style.... whatever. Lennox gave us a little bit of everything. From getting careless against Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman, then getting his revenge against each of them.... to looking absolutely dreadful against Tua.... to turning out the lights on an over-the-hill but still dangerous Mike Tyson. I usually stayed awake for Lennox's fights (well... except for Tua's, during which I fell asleep).

At least Lennox liked to finish it if he could, not sail home safe every time.

Agree 200%.
In some way, I'm exasperated by the lack of a credible opponent who could force Wlad to abandon his "safety first" style. They all talk a load of shit, only to meekly lose either by boring decision or embarrasing TKO. Embarrasing, because it's more their not wanting to be in there, than Wlad wanting to take them out of there. Murphy's Law: The right guy will come along, just in time to hear Wlad announce his retirement.
Re: Am I Missing Something
All you comment's I take on board, but they never have or will have that Wow factor there style
is very effective . Don't get me wrong they are good at what they do!, but boxing need's excitement
and as I said before they don't generate that. HW division is in a sorry state at the moment weather
you like it or not, I wait with baited breath for the Wow factor to return.;D
Re: Am I Missing Something
if the klits went now there would be less quality undoubtably in the division
but there would also be a rush for the belts and a lot more ambition

The Klits make most of Lennox's fights look like the bowe-holyfield trilogy in one fight.
Too boring, too big, too good.
