I like how his chances of getting into the hall of fame all rested on this ONE fight against someone I've never heard of or seen on U.S. television
If only Vic would have known that all of Saddo's was anxiously awaiting him to win and be inducted into the HOF...;D
not so much that, it's just he lost basically everytime he was in a big fight (Mijares aside), Nonito sparked him, Agbeko schooled him, and the Mares whooped him, the fact that he now lost to a nobody IMO just emphasizes on the fact that he falls short from being HOF boundQuote:

Vic' style went against him in the end, his best fight was Arce. He could punch and he was awkward, but this limited him considerably. Mares was an unlucky fight for him, although i believe he lost that fight, he never got the automatic rematch he deserved. Vic is now done and dusted, he won't get a big fight in the USA again. Vic needed to beat Donaire or Mares in a rematch to be a Hall Of Famer, that will never happen now.

True, Vic failed in all 3 super big fights. Agbeko won a clear decision and Donaire KO'd him. The Mares fight deserved another match up, he is too old now. Hall of Fame is thrown around much too easily. No matter what the sport, I've always thought Halls of Fams should be reserved for the truly deserving. Otherwise, it just cheapens it for everybody else. Nothing personal, but if Darchinyan is HOF... then a host of other fighters should be in there too. And I don't think it should be that easy to get in there.

The first guy Vic beat for the world title, Irene Pacheco THAT guy was very good. I remember watching it live on TV and Vic was losing until these damn fireworks went off that delayed the fight for about 10 mins, when the fight resumed Vic got the upperhand and eventually stopped him.
Pacheco has to be up there with Mijares on Vic's resume.
And yes Vic brought a lot of excitement to the little guys, he was/is a jerk and resembles a goose but boy was he effective.
Sure why not. If Barry McGuigan is in then the standards are set pretty low, no?
Its a hard call when there are people in there already who have done either less for the sport or less in the sport, cause there's coaches, promoters, all sorts.
Vic has what I call professional arrogance. Hes the nicest bloke youll ever meet (apparently) out of the ring but is so damn cocky and arrogant when it comes to boxing. Rest assure all of his trainers would of told him not to go for the homerun punch all the time but he doesnt listen. He did for a while but then he goes back to looking for the big left. He could of been a lot better than he was. The guy that beat Mijares would of been more competetive against Mares, Agbeko and Donaire but he fell in love with power. I think hes HOF worthy but he it could of been a stronger case if he had of just listened to his trainers.
My thing with Vic is that his power didn't translate above 115. Below 115, he was knocked people out left and right, but once he got to 118, no one seemed impressed with it. Since the Mijares fight in 2008, he hasn't knocked out one person.
Vic is a strange, awkward boxer that doesn't belong in the hall of fame, but is one of those guys that we'll remember as a good boxer from the lower weight classes of this last decade.
Yep, i agree with that. He never looked like hurting Agbeko or Mares. His best performances were against Mijares and Arce. He never appeared to have a plan B? The majority of top class fighters have another game when things are not going so well. Vic never looked like he could alter his style mid fight?Quote:
