Re: Scoring Cotto-Mayweather a week later
Well I guess I'm one of the idiots some of you speak of. I'm a huge Cotto fan but that fight was not remotely close.

floyd could have KO'd him anytime he wanted...in the last 45 seconds of the 12th.
I'm sorry.... did you just

Try not to hurt yourself, ace. "Brain sprain" is an uncommon, but serious issue.

you know cheatofan.... you're a sore loser.
when someone has a difference of opinion from you, you insult them and then you neg rep them.... all cause they don't agree with your ideas and aren't giving in to your bullying and insults.
poor sport.

Awww... you hurt my feelings, kid. Just for the hell of it... look a few posts above this one. Someone else had a different opinion about the fight than me. Did I insult and/or bully him? It's not what you say... it's how you say it. When you make yourself sound biased, ignorant, and disrespectful of the sport while stating an opinion, as you normally do, I'll typically treat you that way.

Re: Scoring Cotto-Mayweather a week later
I've watched it 3 times now and in the words of John McEnroe "You cannot be serious"
I gave Cotto rounds 6, 8 and 9 with 10 possibly even. (I hate scoring even rounds), but in a close round i gave it to Floyd. How you could have Cotto winning the fight at the end of round 6 is staggering! I still had it 117-111 at the finish with a concession that it could've been 116-112. Cotto just didn't land enough.

I had it 117-111 as well. Cotto was competitive and gave a good account of himself. It wasn't an easy fight for Floyd. But his win was pretty clear-cut
And I have no desire to see a rematch

He had him hurt, more due to tiredness but anyone who thinks Floyd let Cotto off the hook is crazy. If Floyd could have stopped him he would have, but he could not do it.
I had it a draw, Cotto was 4-2 up at half way point.
Agree with the KO point. Floyd is a safety first anything to win fighter. It is not in him to disregard safety and go for a KO (much like a Klitchko). If that was the case he would have been hit alot more in this and other fights. I cant agree with the draw. Most of Cottos work was blocked. Has anyone seen the punch stats for this fight. What did they say.

The punch landed flush. He catches him with the same punch in 1st or 2nd round Cotto would still stagger. And a draw is just ridiculous.
Re: Scoring Cotto-Mayweather a week later
Interesting how different people scored the fight. It ranges all the way from 10-2 Floyd (which I find absurdly ridiculous)... to one poster who had it a draw. Personally, I saw it as 7-5 Floyd, although with the closeness of some of the rounds, it could've been 8-4 Floyd. I agree that Floyd won the fight.
I think one point of disagreement is the very first round. I gave it to Cotto... whereas I'm sure many others gave it to Floyd. But I watched it several times. Neither fighter connected effectively. And I gave Cotto the edge because he was the aggresor. With everything else equal, and Cotto being the aggresor, I gave the round to Cotto.
Upon seeing the fight again, I had two rounds even: 3 and 7. I went back to each of those two rounds, and ended up giving Round 3 to Cotto and Round 7 to Floyd. Again, they were close as hell.
As I've maintained throughout... Cotto didn't miss everything he threw (regardless of what Floyd fans would like to believe), and Floyd didn't connect everything HE threw (many punches looked nice, but were blocked.... and defense DOES count for something).
But no complaints. Cotto did a hell of a lot better than most people expected... and there's a lot of fight left in him. I still think the change to Pedro Diaz as his trainer did him a world of good, said so by Cotto himself. Finally somebody to whom Cotto can look up to and respect... and a proven entity in the world of boxing.
I'm really looking forward to Cotto's next fights.
Re: Scoring Cotto-Mayweather a week later
Cotto vs Canello anyone? That would make a great fight.

I'm not a Floyd fan but know what I saw. The night of the fight I was sober and called it 10/2 and rewatching sober 9/3. Now if that's absurd in your view that's fine with me because 7/5 or a draw is absurd in mine.

I reckon Cotto will wreck Canelo, Cotto has a few more fights before the tank is empty and a fight with Canelo is definitely a possibility. If i was handling Canelo and Cotto's people were calling i would lose the connection very quickly. Cotto wins a UD or late stoppage.
Re: Scoring Cotto-Mayweather a week later
If you score the fight by looking at the fighters after the fight, it sure seems like Mayweather won 10-2 or so. Cotto looked horrible and out of it. Mayweather was clowning around and looked like he was getting ready for a 12 round fight rather than somebody who'd just finished a 12 round fight.
