Good stuff ma' dude... What about the rest. :-X
Good stuff surprised to see you picked Roman over Lopez...
To me Lopez is the closest thing to perfection in the ring.
You have a valid point on Calzaghe his natural weight was at SMW.
Also in regards to Wilfred I agree he was hard to hit. Maybe I leaned more towards Pac because of his output but just slightly.
Let's also keep in mind Alexis had his toughest battles against guys used the ring well and JMM is one of the best at it.
All in all good assesments... :)
I'd take Bob but I'm being biased... ;)
No seriously I just think Bob would get the win.
It would be a fan-fucken-tastic fight.
Naz-Tapia would be hard for me... Tapia's best days were at Super Fly and some decent time at Bantam. Naz best days were as a Super Bantam.
Nonetheless I would side with Naz via decision in tough hard fought fight.
Some great matchups Mick
Nunn vs. Ward -
I think I'll disagree with your good self and go with Ward. Ward's technique has looked just clinical and physically he's a big big man. Haven'tseen him extended yet... Best yet to come?
Vitaly vs. Holmes -
I think his one has the poential to be a great fight; but i think maybe Holmes jab is just to consistent and maybe we're talking a finish similar to Lewis v Klitschko??
"Chocolatito" Gonzalez vs. "Finito" Lopez
I get really pissed when I hear fans stick to a fighter because of his aura/reputation/legend....
But although I think this would be a good fight Lopez was a monster... an absolute legend and I think Gonzalez' aggression wouldv'e brought the cynical violence out of Lopez. Ko victory for Lopez.
Valero vs. Escalera -
In a similar situation to Salvador, Valero departed early and we never saw his developed self... So Escalera for me.
Hopkins vs. Saad Muhammad
Hop underestimated because of his personality. Hopkins in a big win.
Wilfred Benitez vs. Pacquiao
Benitez was awesome, but I'll actually take Pac here. I misread initially and thought you had Wilfredo Gomez here (who I think would beat Pac at SBW.) But up here I think Pac was too physical and if he displayed patience could be similar to Benitez vs. SRL.
Izzy vs. Gomez -
Head says Gomez, heart says Israel.Fuck it, I'm going for Izzy ;D
JMM vs. Arguello
I liked Arguello a long time before I liked JMM. But JMM's technique has just come to impress me more as he has aged. He can do it al and I pick him over most, including Pacquiao on a level playing field.
Pavlik vs. Antuofermo -
With Chuck Wepner as guest ref?? I don't think Pavlik grinds Vito down. PTS win for Vito.
Spinks vs. Calzaghe -
Dependent on weight I think. If alzaghe lured him to 168 he wins. At LH Spinks is strong enough and good enough to win.
Pryor vs. Bradley -
Very Early to judge bradley, but at this point Pryor.
I'd love Pryor/Kostya/Chavez triangle.
Nunn vs. Ward – Ward wins because he is a legitamate super middle, Nunn’s best days were behind him at this weight.
Vitali vs. Holmes – Holmes would have a harder time against Wlad because of his jab which was better than Vitali. Holmes wins points in a rough and tough fight.
"Chocolatito" Gonzalez vs. "Finito" Lopez – Lopez KO via left hook
Hopkins vs. Saad Muhammad - Saad points victory at light heavy.
Wilfred Benitez vs. Pacquiao – Are Manny’s best days behind him, what was his best fight at Welterwight? I go with Benitez points.
Izzy vs. Gomez – I love Israel Vasquez
JMM vs. Arguello at lightweight Arguello.
Pavlik vs. Antuofermo – Pavlik points
Spinks vs. Calzaghe – At lightheavy Spinks wins as he was an ATG at the weight.
Pryor vs. Bradley – Pryor too strong at light welter
Nunn vs. Ward = I think Michael Nunn is better P4P, but his best weight wasn't Super Middleweight. So im going with Andre Ward by decision.
Vitaly vs. Holmes = Larry Holmes head to head is one of the best Heavyweight's of all time. To me Vitali Klitschko is just good but is also overrated by many boxing fans. As he ever really had a defining win ? i can't see him dealing with Holmes's speed/technique/jab. Larry Holmes by UD no question.
"Chocolatito" Gonzalez vs. "Finito" Lopez = I've seen alot of Lopez but not a whole lot of Gonzalez, but from what i have seen of Gonzalez. I don't see him really challenging the amazingly skilled Ricardo Lopez, who would bust him up with his amazing counter puching. I see a stoppage win for Lopez in the 10th round.
Valero vs. Escalera = I've only seen Escalera in the Arguello fights, and its been ages since i've seen those fights. From what i can remember he was a very tough fighter, but would he be able to take Valero's awesome power ? i don't know its hard to tell Valero was starting to show real promise in the DeMarco fight, but i didn't see him against enough elite opposition so im going to sit on the fence on this one.
Hopkins vs. Saad Muhammad = As much as i love Matthew Saad Muhammad, i can see B-Hop winning this one on points. Matthew Saad Muhammad was tough as nails and did beat a very good skilled boxer like Eddie Mustafa Muhammad. But i just see B-Hop being too skillful for the exciting slugger Muhammad.
But then again B-Hop was 40+ when he done his best work at Light Heavyweight, so could he hold out against the overly tough Matthew Saad Muhammad ? im going with B-Hop in a tough UD but it wouldn't suprise me in Matthew Saad Muhammad pulled it out.
Wilfred Benitez vs. Pacquiao = This would be a repeat of the JMM fight, except there's no dramatic knockdowns. Benitez is far too good defensively and skilled, and he should win a UD if the judges see it the sameway.
Izzy vs. Gomez = I think Wilfredo Gomez is a level above Vasquez, he wasn't only a power puncher. He had amazing footwork and boxing skills, i see a stoppage win for Gomez in the 8th.
JMM vs. Arguello = Arguello sometimes struggled with movement and boxers, he was clealy outboxed by Vilomar Fernandez, he also had problems with Ruben Castillo until he scored and come from behind KO.
JMM has very good footwork and can box a smart fight for 12 rounds, he should win a decision. But he will have to be extremely cautious of Arguello's power especially that right hand. I can see JMM having some hairy moments and maybe visiting the canvas, but i see him surviving those moments and being able to keep it together to win a decision.
Pavlik vs. Antuofermo = Pavlik would probably win this one on cuts, both tough guys who like to bring it. But as already mentioned Kelly Pavlik can box and has better technical skills like his jab and right hand. I see Kelly Pavlik winning on cuts at about the 9th round.
Spinks vs. Calzaghe = Very easy fight for me to call, Joe Calzaghe wasn't at his best at Light Heayweight, he also gets hit far too much. Michael Spinks has far too much size and power and would KO Calzaghe by the middle rounds, just see Spinks's amazing KO over Marvin Johnson or his stoppage over Yaqui Lopez as proof of his power.
Pryor vs. Bradley = Again a very easy fight to call, Aaron Pryor is just on another level to Timothy Bradley. Aaron Pryor would be far too strong and aggressive for Timothy Bradley. Just see how bad Timothy Bradley looked vs Pacquiao in those early rounds with the pressure. He looked ready to go at any minute, so how would he deal with one of the best Jr Welterweights of all time aswell as one of the most aggressive fighters of all time ? lets also not forget Aaron Pryor's underrated boxing skills, Aaron Pryor by stoppage in the 7th round.
Azumah Nelson V Julio Cesar Chavez?
Who would win Julian Jackson v Nigel Benn at middleweight around the time they were both champions. Both had flaws but both could hit just a bit.
The name alone "The Dark Destroyer" makes me go with BEnn
Nigel Benn was just as stunned vs light punchers like Perez, Galvano. In Julian Jackson's prime he was only ever stopped by the great Mike McCallum, and some would say Julian Jackson was green then.
In a shootout i got to go with the harder puncher in Julian Jackson, i've seen light punchers have even the improved Nigel Benn all over the place like a jelly on a wet maitresse, i've got Julian Jackson by KO in 4.
