wlad would NOT beat Cooney or Witherspoon. That is definitely what would happen.

Gentlemen, let's be fair, the Larry Holmes era wasn't great and this era isn't great. That's the bottom line.
Excellent points.
Tim Witherspoon 55(38 KO)-13-1: Height: 6'3 & 1/2; Reach: 78"
Gerry Cooney 28(24 KO)-3: Height: 6'6; Reach: 81"
Witherspoon was a solid boxer and had a solid chin for the most part, but by today's standards he's a small heavyweight and his power was nothing to write home about. Cooney was psychologically weak, he could take a beating physically but mentally he couldn't cope with it. Cooney's big punch was the left hook & when it's left hook vs right cross the cross usually wins because it's a straight line and it gets from A to B faster.
I don't think Wlad has problems with either of those guys. In Holmes' era the guys Wlad might have difficulty with are more likely to be: Earnie Shavers who ALWAYS had the proverbial "Puncher's Chance" providing he threw the bombs early and often & didn't get caught in return & Randy Cobb just because the man although an out of shape bum could wear someone down if they decided they would try to stop him...but then again by today's rules Cobb would have more than just the 1 KO loss on his record as he got his ass kicked a lot.
This.
Nearly every HW era in history had 1 dominant fighter and the majority of the rest sux.
The eras of all of these 'Greats' is comparably as bad as Holmes'
Dempsey
Louis
Marciano
Tyson
Wlad/Vitali
Liston
In fact only Frazier,Foreman and Ali and Lewis,Bowe Holyfield eras were any better.
I'm a big Holmes fan, but even I have to admit his era stunk.
I think the Cooney who fought Holmes was a hell of a HW though.
To think of it though, what era in HW boxing history couldn't be picked apart? Even Ali's era had Ali/Frazier/Foreman, but other than that it was just a long list of interchangable decent to solid guys. Norton gave slick guys fits but he couldn't handle the bombers. Shavers hit like a wrecking ball but his chin/stamina/heart was questionable. I don't see how guys like Quarry and Joe Bugner were any better than a Chris Arreola or Sam Peter lol.
That's alot of insight.
Can we do a straight comparison, say with the early 70's vs other periods?
For instance,
Ali was, well, Ali.
Frazier ground down all but the fastest (Ali) or the strongest (Foreman).
George was a wrecking ball with trouble against movers.
Norton gave everyone trouble but pure punchers.
Quarry was the best counter-attacker, though he gave up these advantages when he faced the fighters listed above. Foreman said that Quarry was the best never to win a title.
Ellis may have been a poor man's Muhammad, but was a fixture for the first half of the decade.
Shavers may have been that one-trick pony, but fighters with questionable chins ended up flat on their backs against the man (is it inconceivable that he might have landed one good overhand right on Wlad?).
Lyle probably would have held the world title in most era's.
Young was slick as snot, and not just Chuvallo thinks so. The decisions he "lost" against Ali and Norton don't look so convincing when watched today.
Patterson was still tinkering around with a good upset on occasion.
Bonavena would never have been drawn into another fighter's rhythm, which is a Klitschko specialty.
There are others, of course. As a whole, these seemed a vanguard for the era.
Is there anybody out there who believes Holmes wouldn't have fit in the group had he been 5 years younger?
Classic deflection tactics. K2 was not the topic. Again i ask why was the linear champ fighting a 10-0 fighter if the opposition out there was good?
A 6-0 LEON SPINKS was a champ LOL. LARRY had to defend against kids! That is just fact.

Come on now seriously?
The Klits would have a field day with Holmes competition, and i certainly don't see either one of them (at there peak!) getting beaten to a decision by a 15-0 Tim fucking Witherspoon. Stop trying to make out a crackhead like Tim (manboobs) witherspoon is even remotely comparable to prime K2. Oh and as for Gerry:
"Let me tell you, I got messed up between my fight with Ken Norton and my fight with Larry Holmes; I got messed up with alcohol. I needed at least a year more experience, with three or four more fights before I fought Holmes. But I couldn’t get any fights. Don King had all the contenders, and unless I signed myself over to him, I couldn’t get a fight."
-Gerry Cooney(A self admitted Alcoholic during his fighting days)
You are deflecting the thread as usual with your homo pictures of Wlad.
-Carl Williams never won a world title and lost a quarter of his pro fights! (Mostly to bums). At 16-0 though he did outbox holmes. Credit for that! LOL. If u think williams would break the top 10 of either K2's records then u need help! Williams was unable to outbox Frank 'Dumber than a Doorknob' Bruno ffs! Alexander Zolkin who is a similar type of fighter to K2 Knocked Williams out with ease!
Time to take Mister to school again...
Alexander Zolkin was the first Russian and Soviet boxer to turn pro in USA. He won his first 14 fights before running into Tony Tubbs, who handled him his first pro loss in what some thought was a controversial decision, in 1993. He avenged that loss later, as well as the one to Mike Hunter (on SD). Along the way, he beat some fringe contenders like Art Tucker, Frankie Swindell, Carl "The Truth" Williams and John McClain. In 1995 he tkoed Rocky Pepeli in 3 rounds to earn the NABF belt. He defended it against former Holyfield-challenger Bert Cooper by TKO 9. He made the second one against Tubbs, in the aforementioned revenge. In 1996 he got the shot at the WBO title against titleholder Henry Akinwande who was 30-0-1.
In a brave fight, Zolkin was down once in the fourth round and suffered an inch-long cut on his right eyelid in the sixth, that would take 25 stitches to close. Still he managed to keep his composure and gave Akinwande a tough fight until the doctor stopped it at the end of the 10th round. Disappointed by the loss and angered at what he thought was a premature stoppage, Zolkin quit boxing. He returned in 1999 and went 4-0-1, his last fight being a draw against Cuban hope Elieser Castillo in January 2000. After that he retired for good.
Zolkin was known for his ability to take a lot of punishment and his main assets were his fast jab, his size and reach and good boxing skills. On the downside, he is considered as not much of a finisher and not a big puncher either. Zolkin is seen as somewhat of a precursor to fighters like the Klitschkos. According to an article on eastsideboxing, he was slated to face Riddick Bowe but was replaced with Golota, who was seen as a better draw. Zolkin was a very good fighter but not on the level of K2 though!
-Snipes was completely outboxed by VK victim Orlin norris. However some think Snipes was unlucky vs Larry Holmes (He even dropped him in the 7th!) Snipes lost to bums like Ricky Parky who has a record of 22-20 u fuckin idiot! LOL. He wouldn't even be a B level fighter today let alone outbox K2 like he did holmes!
-Witherspoon was a 15-0 baby when he bust Holmes up! Witherspoon time & time again got SD's and MD's and close decisions against bums! The above mentioned Snipes being one of em! Witherspoon lost to Everett Martin who a very green WK beat up TWICE! He made hard work of VK victim Jose Ribalta winning via a MD too! Tim was a weak minded individual who fell into drugs also! He barely ever kept in shape aswell! He is not even remotely on K2 level. Another VK victim Larry Donald easily beat him too. Prime K2 would outbox Witherspoon 9 times out of 10.
Endowing past fighters with supernatural powers LOL. And Holmes never fought Dokes, Tubbs etc! Why was that? The more u post the more u support my argument! Why if these fighters were good was Holmes not fighting them? He can fight Joe fraziers 10-0 novice son but not these "good" fighters! 'Tubbs' LOL. U do know Tony Tubbs was a convicted steroid cheat don't u? Do u know anything about boxing at all? LOL. Tubbs had to use steroids to fight little Orlin Noriss LOL. And Dokes held a version of the title for about an hour LOL He couldn't even outbox Gerrie Cotzee or Randal Cobb the actor! Dokes, Tubbs etc are nothing compared to K2! Keep digging dumbass...
You are being selective again Witherspoon and Williams lost to Holmes.
Williams lost to Bruno when he was old.
Wiherspoon would have given Wlad problems at his best.
Holmes would have taken Wlad into deep waters and probably drowned him.
