Something..... anything.... needs to be done. Society can't afford to continue suffering these unspeakable tragedies that only seem to getting more and more frequent, and more and more horrendous. If the government won't do it, citizens should unite and force meaningful change.
These things will continue and continue ad nauseam as long as guns can be easily available to anyone in the US. But it's almost impossible to get rid of guns there because their forefathers made the mistake of putting that 'right to keep and bear arm' stuff in their constitution and so the Americans hold that right sacred, where almost all other people around the world know they simply are not. Since most of these shootings happen in a school, I think the best solutions is to put as many security guards as needed in each school and let the NRA, the chief pro-gun lobbyist group, to pay for them...
I live in the uk and could not imagine buying a semi automatic in sainsburys or tesco like they do in walmart in america...
Walmart was sold out of AR15s today. Looks like I'll have to build my next one.

More likely Obama won't do anything that can't do anything, feelings are running so high with both Groups that want drastic changes to the gun laws aswell as Groups that protect the Right to Bear Arms, that anything he tries to do will be seen as Knee Jerk Reaction, so he will talk about the devastation of the incident, send condolences and talk about the need for reform without setting anything in stone, so no one party is upset...he is a Polotician so everything will be smoke and Mirrors!Quote:

What needs to be done is the Right to bear Arms should be withdrawn but that will not happen, so the best that can be achieved is a cross the board Reduction in the Calibre and quantity of Guns/ Rifles an individual can be licensed to hold, with a ban on semi- Automatic Assualt Rifles reinstated but that should be a total ban and not for weapons only being manufactured from the enactment of any proposed ban like in 1994, there should be some form of amnesty put in place where weapons should be handed into the local authorities....but unfortunately that won't happen either!
