Re: David Price vs. Tony Thompson II at Liverpool's Echo Arena on July 6
it will be a totally different fight this time
last time he had no respect, just walked forward and expected to knock him out
Re: David Price vs. Tony Thompson II at Liverpool's Echo Arena on July 6
Well done both fighters - Thompson must be getting a decent payday and Price a short one to get swift redemption. Long way back for Price if he loses again though

I see Price tiptoeing forward this time round.

Think 5 was his longest. Thompson has went longer in his losses lol.

Exactly what I said... with different words.
Yeah... good for Price.

David Price will meet Tony Thompson in a rematch at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on Saturday 6th July. Secret negotiations between Price’s promoter Frank Maloney and the Washington DC southpaw have been going on for two weeks. Contracts for the big 12 round international heavyweight return were finally signed late on Tuesday night. When the pair clashed last month, two-time world title challenger Thompson caused a monumental upset stopping the 6ft 8in scouser in the second round.
Maloney said, “There was a rematch clause in the original contract, but it was still far from easy to make it happens. Because it was such a big win for Thompson there was a lot of interest in him from rival promoters, but we got there and he has signed. There were other options for David also, but he and his trainer Franny Smith were adamant they wanted Thompson again.
“There have been a lot of nasty things said about David since the first Thompson bout, but this proves his fighting heart. Not many fighters have begged me to jump straight back in with someone who has beaten them. The fans in Liverpool have been magnificent to David over the last 12 months and I am sure they will respond and get behind the fight.”
British and Commonwealth champion Price’s loss against Thompson is his only setback in 16 professional battles. And a win will put him firmly back in the world title picture. Maloney will announce a top class undercard in the coming weeks along with details of a Liverpool press conference.
If I were Thompson, i'd concentrate all my big shots on Price's glass ear.

Thompson doesn't strike me as a guy who would go in thinking "all I have to do is hit him" and press the attack. It'll be Prices pace to set and Tony isn't that far removed from knowing his roll and that his last win might have been the very last hoorah.

If you were Frank Maloney and you had invested tens of thousands in to David Price then you would choose a less risky fight. The last thing he wants to do is hear the bell ring for the rematch and see Price freeze.
If he looses the rematch, not only has it been confirmed that he is stopped easy but it will also show he hasnt and cant learn anything.
Re: David Price vs. Tony Thompson II at Liverpool's Echo Arena on July 6
This is the right thing for Price, quick and immediate rematch as it was a freak shot. No point lingering on about it and fighting other poor fighters when deep inside Price wants to avenge Thompson.
Frank Bruno should have done the same thing when he lost to Bonecrusher, it may have changed his whole career. :)

I agree.
This time he has respect. He'll be walking backwards instead. And he knows he's getting knocked out
Re: David Price vs. Tony Thompson II at Liverpool's Echo Arena on July 6
Price needs to stay switched on next time and forget all the hype for now. I'm not a huge fan because just haven't seen him in a good fight where he can show us that he is a proper fighter. I expect him to win comfortably and do what he should have done first time round.
I just hope Thompson comes in fit and motivated which i'm sure he will because he feels he was disrespected first time.
I'm happy to criticise Price for a poor performance last time, he didn't show good punch resistance but after thinking about it, it could be not just that he doesn't take a punch well, I think complacency and not being mentally prepared to take much punishment caused him to not handle the punch when it did land. He can make amends though.
Massive respect to Price for chasing the rematch and getting it, that has made me more of a fan. Would have been better for Thompson to make him go to America for it but then they wouldn't be getting paid well for it so that's fair enough that it's in the UK. No one can knock Price for taking the rematch, it shows bottle what ever the outcome is. I will never forgive Khan for not wanting a rematch with Prescott, that's why I will never be a Khan fan and watch him fight hoping he gets spanked like a ginger stepkid. ;D
