Re: Can Guerrero beat Floyd?
*i would say "no", but truth is, May has had 6 fights in 6 years... he had alot of trouble with Cotto in his last fight and as a matter of fact, Cotto was teeing off on May towards the end... Does May think Guerrero is a threat, i don't think so.. and that might bode well for Guerrero... all this inactivity has to catch up eventually... if u ask me, is there's a time May might lose, it's now.
Re: Can Guerrero beat Floyd?
I don' think anythings out of the question. He doesn't have to have Floyd moving and boxing to make him use those legs and put his theory to test. Hes put the weight on with ease and his stability and punch have appeared to benefit. Its going to be a very physical match and he will be in Floyds chest until Floyd changes the tune.
Re: Can Guerrero beat Floyd?
No. Not unless Floyd gets REALLY old over night.
Re: Can Guerrero beat Floyd?
The unusual thing about this thread is that every single person agreed with me lol.
Guerrero has one chance, become a big puncher before the fight, look for one punch to trouble Mayweather.
I don't see the pressure working on Floyd as he needs that to win, he's used to being pressured because he ain't gonna come forward.

Re: Can Guerrero beat Floyd?
It's that one time of the year again where the marketing effort pulls off and we all think that perhaps Floyd's opponent actually has a chance to win so we should all therefore decide to tune in. It's also that time of that time of year where he fights an opponent who's had little or no experience at welterweight. After the suprise called Cotto and the Showtime deal don't expect Floyd's opponents to have even the slightest chance of winning.

He needs to fight him like he did Berto. Crowd him. Smother him. Hold and hit him. He needs to make it dirty. I think Guerrero has a point when he says Mayweather is losing his legs. There's truth to that. Factor in the incarceration/inactivity and it's unrealistic to think Mayweather is gonna have an easy time with Guerrero
Guerrero is not going to be allowed to fight Floyd the way he did Berto.
Exactly. I'm amazed they didn't dig Joe "Break, don't punch don't punch" Cortez up for this fight.

He doesn't have a choice. It's the only chance he has. Make it dirty. If he gets DQ than so be it. A DQ loss definitely won't hurt him
Re: Can Guerrero beat Floyd?
Can Guerrero beat Floyd? Sure. It’s professional boxing… anything can happen. Father Time could suddenly rise up and drop a brick on Floyd’s head, making him old overnight. Floyd could also get injured in mid-fight.
Will Guerrero beat Floyd? Highly unlikely. For a number of reasons. Number one… you think Mayweather has spent all these years carefully cultivating that “0”, only to give it up now? Against Robert fucking Guerrero? No disrespect to the young warrior, but Floyd has fought a "Who’s Who" of fighters over the years and has emerged victorious. Some say he’s ducked some opponents… others say he’s too inactive. Both may be right. But one thing for sure is that Floyd Mayweather is one smart, savvy boxer. He hasn’t come all this way undefeated only to fall to someone to whom he’s at least an 8/1 favorite.
Second… Guerrero is barely into his 3rd fight ever as a welterweight. Floyd has been campaigning there for quite some time, and has even fought at light middle. Size advantage: Floyd. Third… Floyd knows he’s not facing a big puncher. Guerrero has only 18 knockouts in his 31 wins, and his last TKO win was in his first fight as a lightweight, coming from even further down the size ladder than that. And it was 3 years ago, against Roberto Arrieta. So one less thing to worry about for Floyd.
Fourth… Floyd may be older, but he’s definitely not shop-worn. The only blood drawn from Floyd in recent years came in his fight against Cotto. Well…. that’s if you discount the headbutt given to him by dumb fuck Victor Ortiz.
Will Floyd retire undefeated? Maybe. We all know he loves the idea. He’s driven by it… and he always trains hard for his fights. But even Floyd, if he keeps fighting long enough… could conceivably lose. IMO, he’s going to try and push the envelope just a little bit, trying to guess when that exact “right time” is.

Big difference.
Not really. Floyd's fighting another guy who hasn't settled into welterweight. Same shit different smell. Two fights at 147 for Guerrero, twice as many as Ortiz had. Hatton had none and Marquez was forced up from lightweight to a 144 catchweight that Floyd ignored. Thats four of his last 6 fights. Mayweather tried to break the mould with Cotto but got a moderate shock which will see him back to his good ol' self fighting the same ol' bullshit fights till the end of his Showtime deal. The guy is more predictable than my next beer hence the "reunion" with his father to try and spice up the plot. Hands down corniest and lowest cunt in boxing, Floyd deliberately mouthed off at his dad in front of millions of viewers just so he could sell a few more tickets then and now. The saddest thing is he's also the most shameful waste of talent in the history of the sport. If only he had the same blind, ignorant and unbased confidence of his fans :(
Re: Can Guerrero beat Floyd?
I think it could be interesting with Guererros pressure and punches in bunches with Mayweather not using his legs as much and standing his ground a little more in his last couple of fights.
On the flip side, Guerrero isn't that hard to hit, and Floyd is very accurate and IMO seems to hit very hard. Given this, I say that Mayweather pastes Guererro from the inside with uppercuts and big straight rights from the outside and stops him inside 9.
