To some yes. But to the majority of fans a guy is judged and remembered mainly on his quality of work, rightly or wrongly as some may see it. We all know and have our own beefs, indescretions with certain fighters but I watch the fights, not court cases. The sport is filled with ex cons, con men, and superstars and journeymen doing jail time.

Injecting yourself to have a physical advantage is completely wrong. Some of his (Mosley) fights were illusions when I look back now because he was cheating. I don't care if Ali had came out that he was cheating then he would no longer be the Greatest in my book. God bless boxing for having the ex cons, journeymen and the people who have been superstars with hard work and dedication.

Mosley did not accomplish what he did because of steroids. It was because from even before he could walk he spent all day, every day in the gym. Before he could walk, he sat in a basket and watched his father train fighters. At 5,6 years old, he was hitting the bags and learning how to move around. Check the record he had at age 12.
What effcts steroids have on boxing is debatable. Shane, a guy that had boxing bred into him as much as is possible, was still only 'real good', well below guys like Billy graham and fritzie Zivic, much less the guys like Napoles and Armstrong and Robinson.
You ought to give it a rest and think on it. Think on what it takes to be an amateur champion on the level of Shane mosley, or the effort it takes to learn the moves he made during his lightweight reign. Steroids don't teach you skill, and boxing is a skill spot.

I get that and thats the distinction. Wrongs and a mans passed-present is completley his own to pay for in a personal life. Done so within your occupation and souly to benefit achievment is the different thing. Clearly or not so clearly as it may be. The list is ever growing on ban violations and you ponder if a sport that cannot manage its own house, enforce rules let alone appoint competent officials can or will really do anything about it. We can put a big fat asterisk next to all the names but fact is they'll continue to fight, so the discussion will go on.

Well if he was never tested for a fight for it then i really don't give a shit. As for steriods might as well make them legal because everyone already using them anyhow. I mean shit they use trt in mma makes for better fighters might as well be at your best you can be and put on the show everyone wants to see and pay money for. I mean if there is a drug that can make you faster and stronger should use it in all sports makes for a better watch and not like it matters much because most people are using anyhow.

Exactly. Everyone who wins a significant fight is now suspected of Peds. Testing is becoming a lot bigger deal then it ever has been before. One would think that the pro boxers and the staff, promoters etc etc just might know something to be fact that we as fans have long suspected.
I actually think its boxing's dirty little secret that all the big players know to be true. My cynical old ass
almost thinks that the entire on again off again Brook/Alexander fight had more to do with conflicting chemical cycles then it did injury. I'm at the point now that I believe everybody is cheating thus making it an even playing field.

The thing about steroids and boxing is this...Sugar ray Robinson, Ezzard charles, Harry greb, Jack dempsey, Ray leonard,Marvin hagler...We know those guys didn't use steroids. name one guy in the "steroids" era as good as any of them.
James Toney was a great fighter because a great trainer- bill miller-took the time to teach him about fighting. In boxing, skill and intellect are the trump card.

To me Mosley was never that skillfull, his style was based on being quick, throwing lots of punches and taking lots of punches.

He didnt one day just say, right, iv been a clean riteous boxer all my life and now all of a sudden I want to cheat,against De Le Hoya. The kind of person who wants to cheat will have always wanted to cheat and justbecause he didnt get caught before doesnt mean he didnt do it before. You have to assume all fights he didnt have random testing that he was cheating because hes already proved he is a cheater.

Its laughable we have threads in here about kicking steroids out of the sport but then you all want to give Mosley a pass. Not to mention Jones jr, Toney and Holyfield. Dont let me see any of you ever complain about someone caught cheating again. You cant pick and choose who you dont like. If they are guilty they are guilty. I dont understand why the second De La Hoya fight result was not ever reversed seeing as that is the fight we know 100% he couldnt win without them.
